going to catch them here in Detroit and I'd love to know whether it will be
worth it to show up for the opening band or not. :)

I would think that the upcoming release will be their first on a real label instead of self produced.

They are a Baltimore based band and in my opinion, I dont like them. Definitely not prog more like punk thrash.

I almost forgot the second part of that last post. I'll be writing to that guy from Eternity-X later today, telling him that neither me nor any of my friends will be purchasing his cd's or attending his concerts, until he leaves the band or retracts his statements in writing. The way he acted is uncalled for, and I refuse to support musicians that treat their fans this way.

I'm hoping some more of you will do the same. I know that M-Bone and Dr. Mosh feel the same way. How about you? Let's see some action on this one.

First of all, why is everyone trashing a guy for trying to sell a CD he doesn't like. I love all of Savatage's music and wouldn't sell anything I have from them ever (invested probably about 400-450 dollars in the band) but Dead Winter Dead is their weakest album in my opinion. I mean a majority of the music is slow ballads and nothing but. They are all very moving but they should've thrown in a little more EOT type stuff.

Eternity X are assholes- they never reply to their e-mails, trash other bands, etc. Don't waste your time.

Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't care for the new Flotsam And Jetsam. While I do like some of it, it does sound a tad generic and the progression they showed on Drift and Cuatro is just gone.

And finally, Damn The Machine: MIA.

Since Fates is playing in DC on Friday August 9th, I was wondering if any of the Baltimore/Columbia MD jammers would be interested in meeting somewhere and then carpooling down to the club which is south of DC. I dont care either if Fates ends up playing in Baltimore later. This looks like a great prog show and I would go to both shows. So if you are interested in a Ytse Trek to the DC Fates show then let me know via private email.

Uh, there IS no way up for Marillion. All there is left is commercial success, and that's not exactly what the fans OR the band have in mind. They have been trying to tour the US as a support act. But NO ONE wants them to open for them, for one simple reason: They're TOO fucking GOOD. I'm not saying this because I'm a fan. This is actually something their keyboardist said on the Marillion list. Mind you, he wasn't telling us how good they are, he was telling us about the replies they got.

    > Peter Renfro has been trying to get Marillion to play ProgDay for the > past two years. I don't know why they declined. Maybe they demanded > too much money.

No fucking way. They don't want to make money off a US tour. All they want is to break even. Bringing all their equipment and stuff to the US for a festival is just too expensive. Here's something you should know about Marillion. During every tour, they do gigs at BIG concert halls to make a lot of money. They use this money so they can do gigs in countries where they definately LOSE money.

Another example. Glasgow was originally left out of this year's tour schedule (something they had no say over). So what do they do ? They do a special fanclub (warming up) gig in Glasgow, BEFORE the tour :-)

Ok, one more. Marillion was originally going to do *four* concerts in Holland. *One* of them was supposed to be a fanclub concert. Usually, the fanclub gets to buy all the tickets and then sell them to the fan club members... For some reason the tickets for this gig went on sale just like with the other gigs. Result: No fanclub concert.

What does Marillion do ? They arrange a FIFTH concert, especially for the fanclub. The tickets for the regular gigs costed $24. The tickets for the fanclub gig were only $14 (my train ticket costed more!).

Also, this ended up being the tour's longest gig so far, and probably the most beautiful one too... Words can not describe how special that band is.

Most of you probably know this, but Mike Portnoy and Mark Zonder (FW) are both HUGE Marillion fans. _____

Drain has been getting quite a bit of airplay up here. All I'll say is, when I go to Ozzfest, I'll be off somewhere buying t-shirts or taking a piss while they're on stage (same with 3/4 of the bands...it's a really shitty lineup, but Ozzie, Sabbath and Type O are worth the price of the ticket).

I'm also going to see Alice Cooper with Dokken, Warrant, and Slaughter. Woohoo! All hail 80s rock! ;-)

Surprisingly, these Warner books are more accurate than any Cherry Lane songbook. Anyways, here are most of the lyrical errors; the more blatant ones, but some are good for a laugh. (Remember the misinterpreted lyrics on the FAQ? Here's some to add to it, I think). PMU: ..everyday says future to post... ..Others fly and I fall again... TTT: ..And at the end of this day sights an anxious relief for the fortunate lies still in his head... ..I can see much clearer now, I blind... Surrounded: ..Dreams are shaking, set silence waking up tired eyes... Metropolis: ..Death is the first chance eternal... ..The both of you will be confirmed... ..I was told there's no miracle for each day that I tried... ..There must be the third and last death... ..Metropolis watches and thoughtfully ... (smiles was omitted) UAGM: ..bathing your soul in zero tears... If anyone's curious...no, they didn't print the vocal outro to PMU. They simply put "With background vocal", and yes, it's 10 bars. Awake has very few...3 minor errors in the lyrics and only one minor notation error in 6:00, excluding tab errors, which no one should care about. Despite that, as I said, these are the most accurate books I've ever seen published, as far as typos go, and the accuracy is approaching 100%. Last I heard, I&W is out of print from Warner, except what may be in warehouses around the country. Awake is still in print, and the more accurate of the two.

    >Actually, I don't think copyrights issues were the reason that they left >"The Big Medley" out of the version, because they left LTL out too in the I&W book! > What company published your book? I have the I&W book and LTL is right there in the back! Every bar of it.

About PMU: >Well, the song tells something very similar to Hamlet's indecision >of killing or not King Christopher for mudering Hamlet's father. I have > Something like that...Check the FAQ out to be sure.
