Seriously though, congrats. I had to quit smoking along with my GF when she
got pregnant, so we're over a year smoke-free now. To be honest, I hardly
miss it anymore. If only quitting fast food were so easy...

I know someone out there has to know about this stuff...

I'm looking into getting a portable DAT for myself, plus Core
Sound mics. I'm willing to spend up to $1000 for everything,
so what is a good model portable DAT to get along with the
    Stealth Cardioid Microphones?

Please email me privately. Thank you.

    Bogie

P.S. Also, if someone has any info on good CD-R programs
(to mix audio) please write me.

I'm going to get Signals (assuming someone tells me the sound quality is
finally good), ESL and ATWAS (for the missing tracks on the originals),
and ASOH (because I've never had the CD of it).

Other than that, Mercury can blow me.

    Hello,
Have you ever been so bored that your head aches from straining for
remotely intelligent thoughts? God I hate work. Even a little Miles
    can't perk my sprits any.
Oh, so you want some musical content, eh? Here it is: in light of my
increased financial well-being, I have decided that instead of paying
off my numerous creditors, I would invest in "underground recordings".
So my tape trading exploits should get a wee more widespread in coming
weeks. Any takers? Some of the stuff I have is standard, but I have more
coming in! Whenever that KTS shipment gets here, I'll be flying
    high...:)

    >I heard a new Megadeth song on 98 Rock in Baltimore yesterday.

God, NYC radio sucks. Haven't heard this yet. Then again, I doubt public
radio WBGO would play it, and that's the only station I'll listen to. :)
            On Joe Holmes
    >then Ozzy better hold on to this fucker,

Because Ozzy holds on to guitarists oh so well... ;)

    >BABY SNAKES, another local band, will open for QR in Rapid City, SD

Thank God I don't live out there. If this band is half as cheesy as
their name, I never want to hear of them again. :P

    >The Purple Oz Fest Tag Team Concert

Great post! :) But not fair inviting people who didn't actually play
together on albums (Satch and Kirk; does Kirk even play on albums? :P).
And you forgot that Satch played with Mick Jagger, so there's a whole
Stones connection to be made too. :)

    >Even if a CD could only last 20-40 years,

Actually, this was the part I was pretty sure of. The material that they
are made out of (with the exception of the gold discs) has a shelf life
of 50 years. DVDs are made of a different material to last longer from
my understanding. But I wasn't sure about audio cassettes. I heard the
actual tape can last a while, but the magnetics degrade. Even faster
with VHS. Being more of a videophile than an audiophile, I was curious
about the magnetic audio vs. magnetic video specifics. And after reading
what I just wrote, I feel pretty damn anal retentive. :)
And I just got a message from Brandon asking, so I thought I'd post to
the list. The Spawn movie (same as the comic book, and the HBO cartoon)
WAS due the same week as MKII (August 8), now MKII was pushed back for a
Thanksgiving release. I'm so ticked. First Alien 4, now this. Starship
Troopers was pushed back too. Why do they advertise a release date, only
to change it? Finish the freakin' movie before you promote it jerks!
For any movie information, ask me. Though I'm not omniscient (I know, I
know; I just seem to be), I know just about any release date that is
scheduled, and can find out about details if you want them (don't know
much on indies though, just studio). Don't ask me Star Wars stuff
though. I want no details till the movie starts, so I never ask my
friends if they even know any. I want to go in cold.
I'm better with the movies than music because my friends in that
industry actually stuck to their jobs, and actually care about their
industry. The ones in music bailed. They said it was too hell-bent on
commercial success and were sick of talent being passed over. My friend
that worked (well, interned) for Atlantic reviewed demos for a while
then gave up when his recommendations were ignored. Not only did they
not pay him, they ignored him too!
And Swifty, keep off the sticks! Good luck and keep it up!

    NOW PLAYING: Sketches of Spain...

I was half-listening to the radio the other night when the word "Lifeson" caught my attention, and I began listening in earnest. Seems that the band has recorded nearly every show they've played, and some live album (whether it's the one due next or one after that, I'm not sure) is gonna be chock full of old-time live goodness. :)

The DJ also said that the band is raring to get back into the studio, and might be recording again in the fall. Alex said something like, "As long as we get a vacation every 20 years, we should be ok." :)

Just a point of correction. Yes, the NMS sucks, but part of the reason for that is that one of the list managers (Jimmy) is a big-time weasel. I'll leave it at that, but try www.asof.com for your Rush info.

Korg's problem is that he thinks he's smoking wool, but he's actually trying to smoke steel wool. Kids, don't try this at home.

We all know how fun it is to watch MP play those drums. He spins cymbals, he stands up, he spits, he twirls his sticks, etc.. Anyway, I have come up with a new "behavior" for Mike.

    Punching cymbals.

Oh sure, sonically not as effective as hitting them with a stick, but it sure would look cool. He could stand up, grit his teeth, and make that "I'm gonna kick some ass" grimace while he pulverizes one of those Sabians with the butt of his hand. (while still holding the stick, of course) Just a thought.

Also, I think that Eternity-X just wants people to *think* that they think rap is crap, just to hide the fact that they stole the idea for their band name from Run DMC's DJ. ;) Ytsejammers know the truth.

Any Boston area jammers going to the Ozzfest tomorrow at GreatWoods? Binky and I are lookin' for a ride. Sure, there's always the commuter Rail, but then again, there's also crack cocaine, and I ain't takin' that, yo.

I guess that's all for now. Back into read-subject-and-delete mode.... ;)

Sorry to burst your bubble, but MP does do the punching cymbals trick, and you are absolutely correct that it's VERY cool. To be specific, he does it during the Mirror, during the cymbal chokes (right before the verse, "Hypocrite.....").

Now before someone jumps at me and says, "You DICK, he does it with the stick, yadda, yadda, loser, fuckface, yadda, yadda" I have seen him do it with the hand, I am almost positive. And the multitude of beers had nothing to do with it.

He also punches those cymbals after particular songs. One example is after the drum solo in the Live in Tokyo video. Or was it in the middle? Its before he leans over the set and points toi the crowd.......before they go back into Ytse Jam.

    later,

    Hi, there.

I'd like to ask you some help. Could you please tell me more about this tribute to Queen called "Dragon Attack"? I have heard that some DT components have contributed to it. Is this true? Could you please tell me which famous artists play which tracks?? I'd be very grateful to anyone that could help me deciding in buying this album or saving my money...

    Any opinions about this album??

    Thank you in advance, Roger...

Everyone's a critic. ;) The reason I speeled it that way was to reiterate the media constant and nagging diliberation at publishing the nomenclature of said artistic performers with inverted (consanant) "r" and (vowel) "e" which in turn cause great disparagement on the electronical, simulated, interlinked computer network that is undulated in tribulation to said virtuosic performers henceforth refered to as "The Ytse-jam." Thanks Korg...I must admit I have been neglecting my duties to induct any new jammers to my FATES WARNING "IGoD" .sig. I must have been slippin' in between tracking down all the SYMPHONY X I could find and deciding how to get to Texas to see the HELSTAR / NEW EDEN reunion shows.

I also have an old post by Elliot Kim that describes my .sig in a rather touching way..thanks Elliot!! This one goes all the way back to the ".Sig Wars" ...remember them....they rocked!

Way before Blind Melon, the suicide note guy (how's he doin' anyway?), Paternity-ExLax (morons), the MTV petition for QUEENSRYCHE's "Anybody Listening", and any other milestones in the Jam's colorful history....I joined around #600 I think (back when it was on Arastar.com and the DT chat room was on EFnet!)...bring back the .sig wars..we all need a laugh!! Its way too serious now :-(

Anyway this was a really cool post by Elliot concerning the .sig...........

    cheers,
