Big Swift thanks go to everyone who has given me words of support in my
latest attempt to duck taxes (cigarette taxes, that is :).

Visuals are very important, I agree. As long as my boy Roy Jones Jr.
punches Montell Griffith's cymbals in the rematch. I like hockey and
boxing better than NBA hoops. It's a personal problem :)

And my earlier question about the survey card that was includedinside
the Awake CD never did get answered. Any info, anyone?

It's just you, dude! But it gave me an excuse to pop the ol' CD into the
player and have a good jam. Thanks! :) BTW, several of you know that
I'm getting married soon (to Ken McWatters/Dionyzus), and since we are
both DT fans, we both bought copies of all DT's stuff (and both had some
of them signed). What to do, what to do! ;)

On another note, Ken wants me to announce to the world (or just you all)
that Fates Warning will play Houston, TX on August 1 at The Abyss. He
got the info from the TicketBastard site (www.ticketmaster.com), in case
you care. :) Only 2 shows were listed -- the one in Houston and one in
California. Ryan, where *DO* you get your info?!?

    Hey all,
I was just thinking about all of the CD's that I have to pick up
to be happy and "up to date"
            My must get list is:
    1. Faith No More.. Need I say more?? How is this? Is it okay or does
it rock?? I don't want to pick up an album that sucks and add it to my
collection or other disappointments that I have decided to buy by
recommendations from fellow jammers (i.e. Marillion) don't flame me, I
really don't need it right now : )
    2. Megadeth... I wasn't really into these guys for a long time but I
pulled out a couple of the CD's the other day and realized that I missed
all the teeth gritting stuff. (I've been listening to Rush lately, it
rules, but there really isn't much teeth gritting involved, unless Neil
    is doing a drum solo : )
    3. Dream Theater (sigh) I can't wait!! Ahhhhh!! Soon I hope (sigh)

Does anyone know of any more CD's that I should have that are new? I
figured that I would go blow $40 on CD's in the next couple of days. :
) There goes my college account (all of it) : ) (sigh)

TOP TWENTY REASONS WHY CHOCOLATE IS BETTER THAN SEX:

    1) You can GET chocolate.
    2) "If you love me you'll swallow that" has real meaning with
    chocolate.
    3) Chocolate satisfies even when it has gone soft.
    4) You can safely have chocolate while you are driving.
    5) You can make chocolate last as long as you want it to.
    6) You can have chocolate even in front of your mother.
    7) If you bite the nuts too hard the chocolate won't mind.
    8) Two people of the same sex can have chocolate without being
    called nasty names.
    9) The word "commitment" doesn't scare off chocolate.
    10) You can have chocolate on top of your workbench/desk during
working hours without upsetting your co-workers.
    11) You can ask a stranger for chocolate without getting your face
    slapped.
    12) You don't get hairs in your mouth with chocolate.
    13) With chocolate there's no need to fake it.
    14) Chocolate doesn't make you pregnant.
    15) You can have chocolate at any time of the month.
    16) Good chocolate is easy to find.
    17) You can have as many kinds of chocolate as you can handle.

COOL! So I wasn't just getting too much second hand pot smoke from
the crowd :). The riff in question is the sorta slower riff that
occurs right before the chorus of Powerslave ("Tell me why I have to
be a powerslave"). That rocks. I certainly wasn't expecting ot hear
a Maiden riff thrown in a song.

Tonight, at the Megadeth show at Mesa Amphitheater, Dave Mustaine said
(something like) "This next song is called 'Use the Man'. Now don't you
    forget it!"

Then a guy behind me 'n Eckie screamed: "Yeah, 'You da Man', Dave!!"

;)~ BTW Megadeth kicked ass, in case ya didn't know. Anyone out there
record it off the radio? If so, I'd like to talk about a tape trade of
    some sort :)

Fav new song? "She-Wolf" Heavy, melodic, angry, fast, difficult. Jus' my
    style ;)~

bassist is the guy that used to play with Infectious Grooves. I've
heard them and dig them, but never listened to them enough to know
the band members much. Is this true?

Fuckin' _A_ did Megadeth put on a GREAT show!!!

They didn't even need fuckin' fireworks for this one! The new shit
sounded fantastic! And I'm gonna rip out that main riff from "Almost
Honest" when I'm done with this note...>:D. It was truly an ass kicker,
lemme say. I'll let Vince fill in the further details, for those of you
    who couldn't make the show....

Heh, the kick ass bands play the "secret" shows in the Southwest 'cuz we
have the rowdiest fuckin' fans in the world! Plus, they know that DT
never tours here anyways, so SOMEBODY has to make up for it! >;)

    You the man Vince!

We spotted 4 or 5 other people wearin' DT t-shirts at the show, one of
whom was also wearin' a black hat and decided to wear his newly-purchased
Deth shirt over it. If it's one thing that those shirts do for you man,
they start conversations! The first day I wore my I&W shirt, I ran into
about 3 people who stopped me in my day to ask me 'bout 'em. There were
a couple people who were interested in the band after seein' Vince's
    Awake shirt...pretty cool shit!

Oh, and not ONE single cuss word in the entire show! Congrat's Dave!
You're the cleanest metal band in the world, officially! :D

Menza's a fuckin' animal on those drums, Friedman just kicks ass up and
down the spectrum of thrash guitar, Mustaine's an AWESOME song writer and
performer, and Ellefson is the MAN! I think you're right Vince,
everytime I see/hear this band live, I think a little less of Metallica....

To whoever heard new 'Deth material on Baltimore Rock, it was prolly
Trust...I think that's one of the slowest songs on the album...seriously....

All of the new shit has a groove that I just can't shake...BUY THIS NEW
CD, IF YOU HAVE ANY *HINT* OF A THRASHER IN YOUR BLOOD!!!

I've been thinkin' of moving back to CA after my undergraduate study at
AS Fuck-U, but the music out here in AZ just kicks TOO much ass! I don't
think I could leave this music scene!

    But that's just MY opinion.

    :)

I think this is extremely classy on the part of Joe. He doesn't snag the

    >(who's name escapes me) beforehand. The coolest thing about the whole song

Ozzy said in an interview that as long as he's got Joe, he doesn't need
another guitarist. Joe did study with Randy, and Randy did a hell of a job,
as per usual. I loved the show last summer when Ozzy came through town here
and Joe was just amazing. Only thing I disagree with is the Diary
statement...I believe it should be Blizzard. That album was a landmark for
both Ozzy and rock music in general. Diary was rushed, Ozzy admitted it.
Joe is a great player, no doubt about it...but no one will ever come close
    to Randy's caliber.

    Greetings ye 'jamanoids...

    Lars Hellsten remarked:

    >Hahaha! I got my fucking cable modem today! Woohoo, 10 meg/sec Internet
    >access from my house baby!!! That's all for now, just felt the urge to
    >stop in and claim my superiority to all you 28.8k/33.6/56k/ISDN/T1 lamers. :)

Piss off. :) Picking up a cable modem wouldn't do me much good I expect,
since I'm still stuck with a 486DX4-100 with a slow hard drive and slow
video card; it'd probably cough a few times and then explode trying to
    handle that transfer rate.

On a somewhat related note, I dropped by a local used computer store and
discovered a low end system (286, 40 meg hard drive, 1 meg RAM, VGA
monitor) for $45. How much did I pay for a nearly identical system back in
'91? About $1500 or thereabouts. Technology sucks...

    Brian Wherry says:

    >Also, I think that Eternity-X just wants people to *think* that they
    >think rap is crap, just to hide the fact that they stole the idea for
    >their band name from Run DMC's DJ. ;) Ytsejammers know the truth.

Curiosity compels me to wonder how they got "Eternity-X" from Jam-Master
Jay. Or are you thinking of Terminator-X, the DJ for another rap group (I
think it was Public Enemy)? :)

    And then Carlo D'Angelo remarked:

    >Thanks Korg...I must admit I have been neglecting my duties to induct

If you do manage to make it down there, Carlo, let us know how the show
went. Helstar kicks. Has Rivera made up his mind on whether to front New
Eden or return to Helstar full time?

Speaking of cool prog metal, has anybody picked up Cauldron Born's new disc
"Born of the Cauldron"? I've been hearing some pretty cool things about
this group (and they're from nearby Norcross, GA -- wow! Finding a prog
metal band from *this* area is about as likely as extracting sunbeams from
    cucumbers).

    Cheers,

Hey, I just got word that a new band is getting together that will
include Joey Daub, from Believer. The music is described as
"progressive rock with movie soundtrack-type stuff." No word about a
band name or anything else, but this sounds like it could be VERY
    p[romising :).

    >Oh, and not ONE single cuss word in the entire show! Congrat's Dave!
    >You're the cleanest metal band in the world, officially! :D

Actually Dave did say one cuss word. Right before "FFF" Dave said, "This
song is dedicated to the death of Timothy McVeigh, the cunt."

    >I think you're right Vince,

No Metallica vs. Megadeth threads please!!! NOT AGAIN!!! Thanks for
    agreeing w/ me, tho :)

    Hi everyone,

I've posted a review and pictures from last nights megadeth
    concert in Mesa. Check out:
    http://www.smartt.com/~jsmeets/stranger/launch.htm

First impressions, way too short, what happened to the
encores...but I tell ya, the band was INCREDIBLY tight and
    sounded awesome.
