    Hey everyone,

Someone was asking about this video(When 2 become one by the Spice
Girls). It's the funnest Spice Girls' vid yet. They're all hanging
around some city that looks like NYC, but, for some reason the
temperature changes depending on which body part the camera is
on(example: the rap chick is wearing this short shirt, but she is
wearing a long coat, and heavy pants, oh yeah, and gloves). And WTF is
up with the ending? They show some goat or something, sorry I haven't
seen it in the passed two minutes, and its just standing in the middle
of Broadway with cars speeding by nearing the time barrier. It just
doesn't make sense but that's also true for any good porn movie! ;)

About that trader's list that someone is making(sorry my computer is not
obeying my commands so I can't get your email address) a piece of advice
don't(maybe I should use caps lock) DON'T MAKE A BAD TRADER LIST. Make
the good and mixed trader list, I say this not just because of my own
"failure" with the list I had going for a little while. But because the
bad trader will also have an accuse("I went on vacation to India, with
all my boots and someone stole them" or another good one "but I *AM*").
These are some of the concocked accuses I actually heard, its just a
pain in the neck to keep up these accuses. What I suggest is that when
you make up the lists keep the bad trader list, but don't put anyone in
there(I know that sounds stupid but listen). Put everyone who has been
troublesome in the "mixed" list, this way you're not saying that they're
"bad" but you're saying just watch out to everyone this. I say this
because there almost always going to be someone to say that the "bad"
trader is "good." Also, depending on who you talk to the time for
someone to offically rip you off is from 3 months to a year...

If you(the reader) thinks I'm(the writer) referring to you(Re: moron)
I'm(Re: dumbass) really referring to someone else(yo momma ;)

    Hey all,
Just received PT #16 and TDOW #156. I was supposed to get PT #60
but Mike mailed it and I never got it. A second one was sent and the
same thing happened. I gave him my work address and this time they
got here. This was 8 days after telling him the second attempt
failed. I think that's pretty good turn around.

Well, I'm off to go happy listening.....

I don't think anyone actually *hated* him as a person or

            better way of putting it......

            Well, I don't have Whitewolf's personal E-mail address, so I
had to put this on the 'Jam -- I don't think anyone will mind....

I know I'm personally wishing Whitewolf well and all the best
in his recovery......and I'm almost positive that a lot of
others are wishing the same for him, and are looking forward
to his return to health and to the 'Jam...

A suggestion for TechRat....if you can, print out copies of
the 'Jam and bring them to him as reading material during
his stay at the hospital. I remember when I got into a bad
accident a few years back that the well-wishes and the 'Jam
made my stay at the hospital much easier.......

                                            Best wishes,

                                                    Al

I had to check out the rumors for myself, and indeed, their little list of upcoming releases had "DREAM THEATRE" slated for a July release. (God, now that I think of it, I can't remember if the label said "EastWest" or "MCA." Wouldn't that be a kick in the head?)

Anyway, when I asked, the guy said, "Oh, yeah, I remember seeing that in there." "You've *heard* of them?" I asked. "Oh, sure. That cover album they did, the Seasons one? That's some great stuff!"

I was absolutely shocked. Am I really in a chain music store, talking to someone who's heard of DT?? As it turns out, we got on the topics of Rush, Fates, and Megadeth (which I didn't have the cash for). Looks like I may have to go back to that place again. :)

In the meantime, I've been buying CD's (new and used) like they're going out of style, so expect a lot of reviews from me soon. On this list are: ELP's Brain Salad Surgery FNM's Album of the Year Ozric's (I can't remember the title) Guitar Magazine: The Guitars the Rule the World (Finally I found this one!) Animal Logic (featuring Stanley Clarke and Stewart Copeland - Thanks Adam!)

My understanding is that Vivian Campbell was as into Rory Gallagher as Gary Moore, perhaps more so, though I wouldn't deny the Moore influence there. In any event, I think you certainly could argue that some of the tunes on the last coupla Gary Moore records are radio-oriented, but the majority of what's on there doesn't sound like it, to my ears. I still prefer "Wild Frontier," for what it's worth.

I checked into that in the exact same dictionary, which is a few years old now. I'm guilty of using it in the modern sense, rather than the traditional, employing it in terms of what it generally connotes, rather than its denotation, which would put me among the 34 percent who are not offended by the contemporary usage.

    Things to share:

#1 Strangely enough, I have become quite enamoured with CD shopping at the big ol' Circuit City, even though I usually despise the mega-metropolis shopping venue. Yesterday whist browing, I came across many treasures: DT-Live @ the Marquis (Import 1993), DT-Silent Man Single (Import), the whole collection of Rush - 20 bit Mercury remasters for $8.99, and, of course the new Megadeth.

Into my collection went "Crypic Writings," "Power Windows," and "Grace Under pressure." "Cryptic Writings" brought me much joy, even with the high expectations I set for it after the glowing reviews here on YTSE. The Rush sounds great, I can't compare it to the previous CD release, but compared to circa 1984 cassettes, they are incredible. There does however seem to be some distortion in "Manhattan Project" but I nit-pick.

They wanted $16 for "Live at the Marquis" and $10 for "Silent Man." They are still sitting there, waiting for my DT Rarities/Money ratio to become lower.

#2 A sad tale: I lent a buddy my "DT-Awake", "Ozzy Osbourne-Ozzmosis", "Queensryce-Promised Land" and "Metallica-Load" He was cranking one of them when his wife wandered home. She took one listen and blew a gasket. Screaming, "I don't want this shit in my house," she broke all of my CDs into pieces. Can you believe it??? Some people... Sigh... Another trip to Circuit City, I guess.

#3 <Pontification mode on> Why are CD's still so outrageously priced.? We all know you can burn 1000 cd's for $500 (or less). To whom does all my hard earned cash go? Another sigh... <off>

    Hey Jammer-folx:

I subscribe to "Goldmine" magazine, and a dealer has a self-titled CD by a band called "Visionary" advertised. The hype reads thusly: "Imagine Queensryche, Dream Theater, and Metallica rolled into one. That is what you get from this hot release." Has anyone heard of these guys to verify this? The dude only wants $13.99 for it, so it might be worth a shot if I get some positive reviews. I hope this guy's right... 3 of my ALL-TIME favorite bands wrapped up into one! However, I've been burned before with bands like Altura (I know a lot of you guys dig 'em, but I thought they were pretty bad). They were hyped as a cross between DT, QR, and Shadow Gallery. IMHO, they weren't even in the same league as any of them. Anywho, any help on "Visionary" would be greatly appreciated.

On the killer CD front: I think the new Megadeth rules! Heavy and catchy, but not as poppy as I've heard in the past from 'em. I really like this a lot. Also, I just received Angra's "Holy Land" and "Angels Cry". All I can say is "WOW!!!!!!!!!" And, last but not least, the new Bruce Dickinson kix ass too!

That's all for now, gang.... Later! Matt T.

I've still got one of Mike Portnoy's discarded tuna and corn pizzas stuffed in the freezer. Make me an offer...

    BTW, welcome to the jam!

"I get my best acoustics from the toilet!" - Mike Portnoy

Officially, the new Dream Theater album was secretly stocked in stores last night, but you didn't hear it from me... :P It's a double album, and 50 randomly assorted ones contain a lock of James' recently departed hair and a bonus CD similar to the Christmas CD, with the band playing Metropolis on household appliances. Mike plays the toilet, Sorry, but John P's playing a Hoover vacuum cleaner, Derek S. plays the inflatable blonde (not with), and James plugs his ears and cowers in the corner. John Myung was last seen driving reindeer through Scandanavia bearing gifts of joy to children across the land. Reports also state that he has put on a little weight and appears quite jolly about it, patting his paunch and chuckling to himself.

That's your Dream Theater news for the week! KorgX3 a.k.a. Pastor of Muppets ibanez@cyberghighway.net "Yay, yay, ormschperdinki du! Yay bork schperduggin dieder, Bork, Bork Bork!" ---Some Swede Muppet
