A while back Tony wrote: >> I went to strawberries to look around for some cool cd's and I was talking with the guy behind the counter. He was writing up the upcoming release board. I asked him if he had run across any Dream Theater release. He said he had. He had this paper which gave the release dates of a ton of bands up until November. Well I'm very pleased to say that Dream Theater's new album said july next to it. There wasn't a name of the album. The guy told me and my friend to expect the album early august!

And now the response from the resident ex-Strawberries manager: Those lists are always off. We had one artist...can't think of who it was right now, but we kept seeing pushed to the next month...month after month this happened. The list has a few actual dates and then lists some releases with just the month next to them. Those releases NEVER come out when the 'Berry says. Trust me. Do you think it's an accident that they filed chapter 11? :)

well i dont know...my copy is in hi fi stereo, and still the sound is not as good as LiT...my guess is that Lit was you know..edited and remastered before release...and the ppv was a *live* broadcast..but still..having a Hi Fi stereo copy of the PPv and Lit..lit sounds better

Hi! It's me Keiji from Japan.

Well,I'd like to tell you about Dannish band Royal Hunt. They're doing Sympho-Metal music. The main person is Andre Anderson (Keybord). If Yngwie was keyboard player, it would be Andre. Very prog-sympnonic-metal. Their new album titled "PARADOX" (their 4th effort) was released 2days ago. It's concept album. There're a lot of concept albums are flooding these days, but this is the real one.

It's very hard to get their albums outside of Japan so far,but their new deal are finally confirmed. They deal with Magna Carta for outside of Japan. So you'll get it @ your local music stores easily. So give them a try.

    SPOILER ALERT....

    Okay, folks...

Last night's concert absolutely kicked butt. For the sake of those who don't want spoilers, I'll try not to post a whole setlist... but they did play most of the radio songs as well as about 5 to 6 from the new album.

Good mix of songs altogether, some from O:M, Empire and Promised Land. "Bridge" absolutely kicked ass... they all got out their acoustic Carvin 12 and 6-string guitars... Eddie grabbed a 5-string bass for ONLY this song that night... and it just plain rocked. He needs to use that more. :)

Geoff was wearing suit jacket, slacks, and some multi-colored shirt.... and dancing shoes. Kinda struck me as funny. Man, that guy sang with every ounce of his being... very powerful.

I wasn't a real serious QR fan before the concert, but I think I'm gonna buy Empire and PL as soon as possible now. It was *THAT* good.

Any other Jammers make it to that show? Mike Estok ("Michelob" on IRC) and I didn't see too many DT T-shirts last night (only one, in fact)...

    Wow. I was impressed.

    Ahoy,

Just picked up the new Bruce Dickinson "Accident of Birth" along with Dokken's newest "Shadowlife" (not to mention Cryptic Writings.... HELL YES). I'm having a bit o' trouble getting into the new Dokken unfortunately. It's just so slow sounding throughout the majority of the album to be Dokken. Their previous album "Dysfuntional" rocked! I don't know, maybe I just need to give it more listens... I will in due time. Now this new Bruce kicks some ass! I thought the previous release "Skunkworks" was pretty not good. There were a couple of songs that I really liked on that album, but other that those, the album was very alternative sounding (with the obvious exception of Bruce's voice). If you haven't picked up "Accident of Birth", go out and get it - you will enjoy! It's heavy, it's got great riffs, great solos, great lyrics, Adrian Smith, and if you might have noticed, it sounds a lot like Maiden in parts! Get it! · • Colonel Mustard • ·

Well, it's incredible, but my video is crap, crap, crap! I simply can't stand watching it, but the audio is good.

    > It's even better than Live in Tokyo... but you might be watching it in

Well, I simply can't believe it! Mine is horrible. I even stopped watching this show after 30 or 40 minutes.

    > NTSC when it's supposed to be PAL?? I dunno what format you use in South > America...

Well, there's no problem here. Just a bit of inutile information for all you jammers: these formats determine only the color system (at least, NTSC and PAL). While PAL has automatic tint control, NTSC doesn't. But you may be asking yourself: "but isn't some PAL 13241234 lines while my NTSC is only 525 lines?". This is often described by a letter together with the color system. So, for instance, here in Brazil, we use PAL-M, and this M means: 525 lines and 30 frames per second. The video system used in the USA is NTSC-M also. But since my video is multisystem, there's no problem with the color system (it can read both NTSC or PAL tapes).

But thank you for the information... Just a bunch of useless information here, Roger...

Lay your butt on your chair and wait. It won't be ready to be selling really soon. The band has only 4 tracks finished (or almost finished).

In other words: we'll have to wait a lot.

Hey man, chill...some people have lousy, little, or no access to the Web. At least this guy is posting about the band that this mailing list is supposed to be about. Your point is taken, just remember those that aren't Caught In the Web. Since I'm probably not helping the 'Jam by whining about your whining, does anyone know how the new equipment the guys are using on this album is going: Starclassics drums, Yamaha basses, the Mesa/Boogie Heartbreaker Petrucci was talking about?

I wouldn't count on Electra releasing anything to "whet our appetites" this July, with an album due out in September. A single with a b-side might be possible, but I still don't think it would be thrown at us in July either. Maybe Strawberries is promoting our favorite cover band, Dream TheatRE?

Heh, but I got my DT fix for a while...Precious Things is now sharing rotation with Cryptic Writings...this is my FAVORITE of all of Mike Bahr's work! You really outdid yourself on this one man...soundboard quality on almost (if not more?) half the CD, a live recording of ACoS in all it's completed, Sherinianesque glory, Raise the Knife, and (my fave) an instrumental medley with Damage Inc. thrown in there somewhere...

this disc kicks ASS!!! And they're good performances too...You don't have James' voice cracking everywhere like he did in the PPV Awake tour in Japan video...did he have a cold when he did that show by any chance?

    Oh, and the video compilation...

GOOOD selection of videos, but what the HELL is goin' on with Tori Amos' "Caught in a light sneeze" vid? My god, I think the producer just said, "Well, let's use every special visual effect in the book, that'll be cool!" I think the wierdest video I've seen before that was the Unforgiven vid, and that doesn't even hold a candle to this one! But the music kicks ass. The Galactic Cowboys vid and the Lie copies were awesome, but the one video Vince and I wanted to see the most, was the worst reproduction....

We saw a blank, blue screen for about 90% of The Silent Man. It cut out right before Petrucci's solo too...it was a heart breaker. Other than that, it was a great compilation musically (what channel did you guys swipe the Megadeth ToC video off of?) but if I was just a little bit drunk or high...I think my brain would've exploded just watching those videos. Oh, did I forget to mention how wierd the Plantera video is too?

    >;)

The Bahr family rules. I guess those two items were worth the um, "adventures" Vince and I went through last night in that FORD! (What did I tell ya man, Found On Road Dead! >;) ) It was pretty cool though, talking about electric cars and good ol' rock 'n roll with the tow truck operator, while his heater's exhaust was blowin' at my sandal-wearin' feet, and his cup o' water kept splashin' me...okay, maybe it wasn't so cool....

I'm giving one last reminder of the Rush bootleg compilation double-cassette I've created. I made a post regarding this subject earlier in the month informing everyone that I was going to send out my remaining copies. Since then, I decided to hold off for about a month to go ahead and improve upon the quality since the last issue. I've gotten ahold of some better shows recently and have been dubbing on a better unit in support of higher sound quality. I don't want to clutter the 'jam too much regarding this subject, but if you would like further information, please visit my web page:

    http://members.aol.com/Xanadu0378/index.html

This will give you detailed info concerning the nature of the tapes, the track list, dates, and ordering info.

One last mention. I'm still keeping the total numbered run of these tapes to 100. The improved quality tapes will still be under the same name, "Universal Panacea". I still have about 20 unpaid for. After that, you'll just have to hope for higher generation tapes floating around and they won't have the fancy tape-liner. :)

ya know, i was thinking.... wouldn't it be nice for us to make some kind of 'ytse- get well card' for Whitewolf? I figure we could all send emails to techrat, and he could print 'em out on a card, with a big majesty symbol on the cover... or maybe the flaming heart(more appropriate, me thinx)... anybody up for it?

Well yes.... but I like really like crazy stuff like that. I love Stravinsky, and Zappa's orchetsra stuff, I'm starting to get into 'Trane, etc... but Altura still sounds forced to me. The crazy parts are cool, but they don't do anything for the song... that's the magic; playing really angular out-of-the-way stuff, and use it to bring the song to another level. Altura seems to only want to recreate the instrumental part from Metropolis in every song. And yet, I do listen to that CD quite often, but mostly for the cool riffs and hooks its filled with...

    walking with giant steps, Ernie
