You all will have to forgive me if this is a repeat question but I am a new
subscriber to this list. Who has heard the new Einstein CD and what do they
think about it? I am a huge Mover fan and I was wondering how I can get a
hold of this disc. I heard from web pages that they opened for DT in NY for
a couple of nights. Still I am having trouble trying to find links to the
Einstein page or whatever label they're on. If any jammers have a clue, I
would be most interested.
I've been reading a few of the digests before writing in here just to see if
I recognize any names, and yes, those of you with the DT sites all ring a
bell here.
About me, i'm a drummer from Wisconsin(der hey) and a long time DT fanatic
along with any number of other prog-rock bands. At the moment I am on a
concert binge, Rush was just here, OZZZZZZZZZZZ fest just came through and
Queensryche is along in a few weeks. As for now, Milwaukee gears up for
Summerfest, a 10 day music marathon. ( Actually a lot of it is an
alternative marathon but its easy still to find some jems down there)
Thats the straight dope from Milllerwau........Milwaukee.
Don't forget about that Einstein question!!!!!!!!11

A while back I sent a package to Sweden to a jammer that traded with
me. I was curious to see whether or not the package got there, so I
e-mailed 2 or 3 times with no response. Mika, if you got the package, e
mail me and let me know! I sent it 3 weeks ago.
If any jammers know who Mika is, drop em a line! Thanks, J

A while back I showed some interest in putting the fix boot on CD. I
abandoned the project and left it alone. Someone had stated that they
had seen the CD in a store, I just wanted everyone to know that it

Its an audience DAT recording , i give it 7 out of 10 for sound
quality , couple of drop outs during Take Away My Pain but not bad
for a non- soundboard tape.

Me2. "Surfing With The Alien" did a lot more for me than "Passion & Warfare" for about the first six months. But then...
> My only gripe is: doesn't it really suck that Steve has seen fit to put > vocals down on Fire Garden?
I'm not sure that whatever Steve Vai "sees fit" to do with his musical genius is not really for me to determine as "a good move" or "completely unnecessary." But personally I like his voice and simultaneously hope he doesn't do any singing on his next album. An artist is entitled to make whatever changes within his art that he "sees fit" to make, and shouldn't have to ask anyone's permission to do so. Just as The Artist himself. (aka PRINCE)
> He also uses a couple of runs on Fire Garden that are just lifted and > transposed from Passion and Warfare, which I found disappointing.
Could be part of his style. Even Petrucci isn't immune to repeating himself. (DREAM THEATER CONTENT DREAM THEATER CONTENT)

Wear sunglasses. The green bolts of lightning that fill the skies above him when he walks around outside can really hurt your eyes.

YOU HAVE. I KNOW IT :)
You're right, here...they've presented a few images over the years, and the band's "look," prior to "Operation: Mindcrime" is somewhat embarassing. But they played a pretty aggressive and experimental brand of metal prior to that point. "Roads to Madness" off of "The Warning" is my own personal favorite from the Queensryche canon, and, at 10 minutes, with the elaborate arrangement, I think we could safely call it "progressive."
>> - Fates Warning. > > More prog than prog. Good band, but like coffee, it's an aquired taste. >Go get "Parallels" or "Inside Out" and judge them for yourself. > Personal fav songs of theirs : "Kyrie Eleison" (The Spector Within, 1985), >"Eye to Eye" (Parallels, 1991), and "Monument" (Inside Out, 1994). I actually agree with the above assessment, but to many people, Fates Warning is really just a knock-off of Queensryche. I certainly don't agree, but I've heard the argument made. In any event, I like "Parallels" best, by far, with the last two fighting "Night on Brocken" for second place.

Don't know if this has been posted or not, but EMI USA has officially closed its doors. What this means is QR no longer has a record company backing it and also means no more tour promotion. So I suppose as screwed as DT's label is, it could be worse. Take the time.

Holy burning planets, Batman!! I just found the last Warrior Soul release "Odds and Ends" at a crappy little metal store in the middle of a Yuppie Cleveland mall and I must say it is a CRIME that the title track to "Last Decade Dead Century" never made it past demo and got put on the albu!! This tune is abso-fucking-lutely fantastic!!! Truly one of the greatest tunes I've heard from this band <oh, that hypnotic bassline>, which I just got into as a result of taking a chance picking up their first CD from the $5 bin at Record Exchange. G3 is skipping The Gorge here in Washington. The tour is also skipping Vancouver, British Columbia. So no G3 this time. :( :( :( But I guess I can listen to the disc from the first tour and turn it up to high volumes and pretend I'm standing next to an inebriated girl who keeps saying, "This isn't from one of his albums, is it?"
> Vai was next, and although his set was enjoyable, too many times whammy > bar wanking substituted real notes. (IMHO) Mike, Mike and Phil were > awesome.
I remember when Adrian Legg performed at the G3 here in Seattle. IMHO without that B-string he wouldn't have had any real technique. In fact, he relied WAY to heavily on those six strings. Guitarists should stick to playing the wooden parts of their guitars instead of the metal things attached to them.
> Satch came on last. He ruled. Stu did a bass solo and it was way > slick.
Stu's bass solo should have been on the G3 disc! Seriamente! Maybe it'll be on the next one...

Much like having three opera vocalists singing different things at once, when three or more guitarists start wailing at the same time it's usually a big ball of atonal chaos. Just be thankful they didn't invite DT up onstage to sing "Silent Night." :)

Also, two more days until the QR show at Irvine Meadows. I'll be there with a former Jammer (Dave Fernquist) so stop on by and say hey! I'm an old fart with Brown hair, beard and glasses and I'll probably be wearing one of my Marijuana shirts.
