There is a cool clip of Megadeth playing the X-Treme Games theme song at
http://espn.sportszone.com/xgames/summerx97/musicpoll.html
They have both video and audio files. I downloaded an .avi file that was
about 2.5 megs. It is good :)

"It's on Me" on the new Flotsam & Jetsam disc is in Twisted Sister's
font. Groovin huh?
Speaking of old school tunes, I missed Ratt tonight in New Orleans. Dang
it. That sucks.....
I too tried to find the new Divine Regale today and after calling
several stores and explaining that it's not spelled Devine Regal I gave
up. I'll go looking for it eventually.
Um..i'm running away now, wait a second...one more thing...could someone
send me the tracklist to the new Enchant "time lost" CD? If so thanks...

It might be the only CD with the new songs, but it's not the only place
you can get them. If you've absolutely GOT to have them, don't buy this
CD! Set up a trade with someone who has a Fix tape instead. It will save
you much money, and you will have committed a sin that will have
sentenced you to a lesser degree of hell :)

Hey all... I just wanted to comment on a Rush Boot I just picked up, it is
called Rush Hour. It is really early, 1974. Previously the majority of
the Rush stuff I had heard was Exit, Presto, Moving Pics, Hemisphres, and
their newer stuff. This thing is a concert between their 1st and 2nd
albums and it sounds like they are playing to a crowd of like 15 people.
Oh and whoever said they sound like Led Zep, you are right. Geddy sounds
like he really wants to be Robert Plant. But some of the songs are pretty
cool (Fly By Night and Working Man).
Hey Dr. Mosh you going to hit the Lakewood Fates Warning concert? I think
I might hit that one unless a huge group is going to Corona... Email me...

Hey, don't know if this was mentioned, but I found a JP "Rock Discipline"
Book and CD at my local music store. It's supposed to be pretty much the
audio and score for the video, but since I haven't seen that, I don't know
what they cut out. Pretty neat, tho, even for a keyboardist like me.
I'm kinda glad that FW sin't touring in the Bay Area yet. With me leaving
for England for 5 weeks next monday, missing Drain STH and Enchant will be
enough sorrow. Missing a fates show might push me over the edge. ;)

Hello,
Does anyone in New Jersey know a place to get those damn double CD
cases? I have no place to put my Lords of Sound disc!
Bafu said:
>How the $@%#!&? did he do those wacky drill-noises live?
I assume you mean the "lizard-down-the-throat" technique as Joe called
in in one interview. It's accomplished by playing a note with the whammy
bar depressed (but not suicidal :) ) and simultaneously releasing the
bar and sliding up the neck so the pitch is maintained. Impossible as
fuck to do, but he can do it every time. I'm only sorry I wasn't closer
to see those legato runs...
On KWS:
>lord knows he's heard it to his face more than once.
I hope Swifty doesn't mind me quoting a private message to the Jam, but
he made a great point. The best blues music comes with age and
experience. Once Kenny Wayne has both, I agree he'll be a much better
musician and far less of a clone. For now he adds to the genre something
it needs: a fresh young face to attract younger listeners and players.
>He's not exactly the frontman.
I think this was part of the problem with the act for me. I couldn't pay
attention to any of the players as they didn't interest me all that much
until Kenny Wayne soloed. The downside of Vai's act is that ALL the
players interest me too much... :)
On improvisation:
>That free aspect is part of the reason I love Dream Theater's shows so
>much.
Agreed! I appreciate the fact that Steve didn't just play the songs as
on the album. I was just a bit disappointed that it wasn't as impromptu
as I had thought. I can be naive at times :P. But this is the exact
aspect of a live show that makes DT awesome: CiA9ITG, the Awake Heavy
Jam, the covers medleys; these are what make DT so good each time you
see them. Then they'll pull out a song like Scarred that you never
thought you'd hear and is far better live...
DT is probably the best live ACT out there. The best live PERFORMANCE
was Queensryche on the PL tour, IMHO. Best live SHOW would be last
fall's G3. The differences are subtle and can probably only be
understood through deep hypnosis and a good deal of Southern
Comfort...:)
>The only reason people might not think that of Petrucci is because he
>SPEAKS to his fans and lets them know he's human
And that there are some songs where he doesn't wank at all. Doing Purple
Rain at a clinic is cool as shit. I can see Vai doing this too, just not
for any albums or at a live show. He just wants to push the envelope,
which is fine by me. But I'd love another song like Sisters.
And to the guy looking for a Rush album to buy: anything but the first
and last albums (Rush and Test for Echo). The high point being smack in
the middle: Permanent Waves. This or A Farewell To Kings should be right
up your alley.
Thanks to MMO for the info on the karaoke option on stereos. Quite
informative! That HDCD stuff was beyond me, but thanks Tim...
>2. Marallion - Made Again
All right, I imagine Itchy will be all over this, but I thought I'd go
to the Jam. I *really* like the song Easter on the Uncovered boot. Is
this representative of Marillion? If so, and I like this song, what CD
should I pick up? (In other words, which CD is Easter on?) I saw some of
their CDs at the Princeton Record Exchange, but they were all over $16.
I only pay that much for boots and imports (or Bahr discs :) ).
Also, can someone recommend a My Dying Bride album? I remember the talk
about them being good, but wasn't in the frame of mind for goth-metal at
the time.

Hey
1)for Brazillians: I have to think that you all Brazillian DT fans knows that they will play here in Monsters Of Rock concert at August 30 (I think , but I'm not sure about), at the same night that Angra, Manowar, Dio, Priest, Whitesnake, and type o negative will play. I would like to know if this date is correct. Please let me know. 2)I heard at ytsejam channel Drusillius saying that some cd stores, are saying that new DT will be released at July.Is this really true?Or these stores are just making fun with our pain?:=) 3)Last week i wrote something that, I guess, offended Helloween/Michael Kiske fans.Sorry so.But I have some problems with this new Helloween, basicaly because something I read in Angra FAQ.Michael Weitak said in an interview that the guys from Angra would be better playing soccer instead of playing metal. This thing pissed me off.Made me angry. I can't hear these new Helloween cds. But I have to say, both Keeper's are classics!!! (But I'm sure that they are good because Kai Hansen was playing with them) 4)Cds I'm looking for: Enchant:Wounded Magellan:Test Of Wills Symphony X:Tragedy Wings of destiny Anything from Cynic Anything from Death Anything from Renaissance Anything from Triumph
Its not easy to find out them.

I do believe that I will be doing the following:
-cancelling my subscription to Rolling Stone (yes, I subscribe to it)
-absolutely ignoring ANY album reviews in the mag.....
The most recent issue of RS (the one with our lovable Spice Girls on the cover - that should have been a sign already) has a review of Faith No More's "Album of the Year". Now granted, I'm not a die-hard FNM fan, but I enjoyed the album and think it's great. But the reviewer proceeded to put this uninformed, biased spiel on how bad the album is (1.5/4 stars) and had the nerve to say (I'm paraphrasing here, but it's close) "And now FNM's new work is a combination of <something> and ugh (or some other bad sound spelled out) prog rock keyboard sound........"
The rest of the review goes on to spit out retarded opinions based on nothing substantial music-wise......easily, the most retarded thing I have ever read describing an album....I'm sure there has been more, but this is one that I recognized, having heard the album......
what a crock - I should really try and become an album reviewer, just so true music fans don't get their intelligence insulted.......

Partha asked about the "no thanks" section in "The Spectre Within" 's liner notes. I have no idea what the Anthrax bit was about, but as far as the "Night On Brocken" art problem - that I know. There are three versions of the NOB art: The first, which must have been an unmitigated disaster, was the "witch burning at the stake" album cover. I have this on vinyl, and it is pretty bad. I guess there was a second one, more cartoonish in nature. I seem to remember seeing this about 8 or 9 years ago. The last one is the simple full moon cover. I think that if a band has to make three different album covers to one album, that qualifies as a "no thanks" situation!

Hello, See that address in my sig? Traders can start using it. I compiled the list, and its up for distribution. I'm still tinkering with it a bit though. All I ask is that if you request it once, HOLD ON TO IT! Save me a little work, please. Of course, there will be updates, I'm sure. But I will only be doing updates on a monthly basis, so at least keep it for a month... Just so you all know, I changed the rules a bit. Since only five good traders had their names submitted more than once, I decided just to go with a *one-submission* policy. If your name is sent in once, it goes on the list. Otherwise we'd all be asking five people to trade with us. Next, do not mail bomb the people on the list asking for trades. This list should be for use if there is a question over someone you have initiated trade talks with (criminy, I feel like Steinbrenner saying that...). If I find out that this list is being misused on a large scale, I won't maintain it. If you just want to know if your name made it on there, you can ask for it for that reason too. Also, the mixed response section now includes a condition that if you completed the trade, but felt the *service or materials* were unsatisfactory. This does not mean that if you thought the recording was poor quality, just the time frame the materials were sent in and the manner in which they were sent (i.e., not the type of tape you requested, no cases sent when requested, poor mailing packaging). I decided to add a section for reputable CD distributors. So far, I have only put KTS (closing, I know) and Knights of the Round on there. Feel free to make submissions, but ONLY if you have used that distributor in the last year, and ONLY if you have the web address for the dealer. No non-web distributors will be allowed. -- ______________________________________________________________ "Luminous beings are we, not this crude flesh..." -Yoda, the Jedi Master ______________________________________________________________ Andrew Forcier a.k.a.
