    Hi all:

I have been taking a bit of a break from the jam lately, because I've
been so disappointed at the posts recently. Anyway, I cannot remember
who posted the in depth analysis of the new Queensryche songs, but if
anyone out there knows about the new album's songs, or has heard them,
can you e-mail me? I'd like a listing of the tracks and a critique, if
possible. I must've accidentally deleted the critique that this person
    whom I can't remember posted.

The reason being, I think I heard the last half of one of their new
songs on Oklahoma City's KATT, something about "Paris" in it that I
    remember. I thought it
was totally cool, and if indeed this was new queensryche, then I'm
tremendously looking forward to the new release!

    Thanks,
    Jon

For anyone who's interested, I just put together the new Ytsejam
"Most Frequent Poster" and "Domain" lists. Be sure to check out
the www-pages people mentioned on the list, last month (they are
linked to the names). Just like last month, the list now has the
amount of lines posted per person *plus* the percentage of space
they used up. If you're not yet on the Ytsejam Birthday Calendar
drop off your birthday at the bottom of the Calendar-page. Also,
check out the "Most Frequent Poster" list for "Voices". Only two
digests with *one* poster on each ! Point your www-browser to :

    >The black album was the most successful album in Metallica's history,
    >and all the albums leading up to it (if I'm not mistaken) show a
    >remarkable sales increase.

This is true, TBA is their highest seller. it's also the most blatantly
commercial radio friendly album just about any metal band has ever done.
This record was made to sell as many units as possible and has nothing
to do with musical integrity what so ever.

    >Therefore, it would stand to reason that the band is actually enjoying
    >Load since it is not trying to follow-up a flop.

One of the great things about LOAD (besides that it kicks ass) is that
it was not recorded to please the band wagon jumpers that bought TBA
    and wanted TBA II.

    >That, plus the fact that over the summer Metallica was having
    >HUGE problems with Elektra, according to Metal Edge, leads me to believe
    >that their contract was renegotiated so that Elektra wouldn't loose a
    >cash-cow like Metallica.

Metallica wasn't looking for more money, they were looking for ownership of
their songs. As it stood, Elektra owned the rights to their catalog, which
meant if Elektra wanted to rlease a Greatest Hits package like that piece
of shit one released by Van Halen, that there wasn't anything 'Tallica
could do about it. That's why it took so long for them to release LOAD.

Hello! I've ordered from RAM Music as well as some of you. I ordered two
Freak of Nature cd's. I got them like 4 days after I called. They were
always helpful. Maybe it took awhile because they didn't have them in
stock. The place can't be that big. When I called them, they told me to
hold while they check. I heard the guy walk out of his desk area and
shuffle some things around. Then he came back, and told me they had just a
few more. So, this place isn't huge. I think that they will not rip
anyone off. I've put them on my credit card two times. I haven't had a
    problem, yet.

    Hello Jammers,

Dream Theater should play Merriweather Post Pavillion when they visit
Maryland on the tour for the new album. It is a clean place, I don't
have to drive to New Jersey (MPP is only 45 minutes from me), and there
will be space to breathe (no drunks burning cigarette holes in my clothes
and intolerable heat levels). Rush, Van Halen, King Crimson, and similar
bands play here, why not Dream Theater.

    Later,

    Mike

Nope, that song is off of the Ford Fairlane soundtrack. I've never
seen it anywhere else and I think it would be way kewl for them to
put it on their next album. The song's called "Last Time on Paris"
and it's probably my favorite B-side of theirs.

The only other place I've seen this is on a bootleg I saw from the
Empire tour and (still kicking myself) never bought.

Anywho, I think I'd heard somehwhere before that the band had never
planned on re-releasing the song anywhere and that it would be a rare
occasion if they played it live. I guess it was a song they just
came up with on the spot and thought it was real lame. I think it
    rocks verily. :)

    Nuff said...
BTW, where is that site where you can preview the new QR stuff?
I heard you all mentioning it, but no one ever put it up here that I
    saw.

    Howdy, friends!

I was the one who posted to the Jam some praise of R.A.M. Music in
Milwaukee. I'm responding to Richard Rivera's post saying how it took
several months to get his stuff. Wow! I'm very surprised to hear that! I
can't say as I blame you - I'd be pissed as hell to wait that long for CD's
too!!! I just have never had that problem with them. The only thing I can
think of is that they had to special order the discs for you. Do you know if
they had to do that or not? When I've ordered, unless they've had to special
order some stuff (which they had to do with Shadow Gallery's first album),
I've always gotten my stuff within a week at the most. I guess it just goes
to show you that at any given time, any mail order place can give you the big
shaft in a VERY uncomfortable place. Laterz! - Matt T.

I'd imagine that the chain has to start with Meat's drummer - whose name
escaeps me presently - and go through Derek. If I could remember that
drummer's name, I'd probably have it. John something, right?

BTW, Meatloaf is a dick. When I was a sophomore at Manhattan College, I
wrote the music column for the school newspaper. (That was a great deal
of fun. I managed to work a Rush quote into every column. :) Anyway,
Meatloaf came to play, and I got a backstage pass to interview him for
the paper. The performance was mediocre at best. I could tell he wasn't
really playing his guitar - he held a G chord all night and strummed. It
was an uninspired delivery that night, but the crowd seemed to like it.

So, after the show, I sat on a folding chair for 45 minutes while various
members of the entourage inspected my pass, sure that it must have been
faked or something. After finally being admitted back, and meeting the
man, he decided that it was a good time to show off for his manager and
whoever else was there. Rather than answer my simple questions (hell, it
was my first celebrity interview), he made fun of me and the college and
boosted his own ego every chance he could. Finally, after about 10
minutes of this abuse, I'd had enough. "One more question," I said.
"You've got an ego that would put most guitarists to shame, yet you
haven't recorded anything worthwhile for fifteen years, and you can't
even sell out a college gym in New York City. How do you explain this
    disparity?"

I was roughly escorted outside, but it was well worth it. :)

get both... listen to it and tell more people... so far he has appeared in

section... it is time he appeared on the cover... need I type further? (For
those of you not familiar with Harris, this is not some 12 year old kid in

    Way to go D!

I can't say I like the guy much either. I had a real bad dream one
    night.

I was in this truck and Meatloaf had this real disfigured face.
There were lots of explosions and there was this real hot looking
chick floating around on a bed I think it was. Meatloaf was being
accosted by these policemen dressed like Indiana Jones and he kept
staring at this chick in his crystall ball. I was trying to hit up
on this chick you see, and it really pissed me off cuz Meatloaf flew
a helicopter into me and blew me up and rode off with this chick on a
motorcycle. I was real mad and wanted to kill Meatloaf but I was
dead. He ran over me with the motorcycle a few times and spit blood
on me. Of course I didn't notice since I was dead, you see, but it
    still pissed me off.

Oh, wait, his face wasn't horribly disfigured. It was his normal
face. Oh, well, not much difference. 8D

Anywho, the 1st song on Bat out of Hell II wasn't so bad (I would do
anthing for love) but what was it that he won't do? Make the song a
little shorter so it doesn't take up the 1st half of the CD and keep
playing the same sections of it over and over agian? Anyway, I know
some of you are probably gonna flame me, but MEATLOAF, BEATLOAF,
DOUBLE BEATLOAF, I HATE MEATLOAF! (How do the little piggies eat?
    *grunt, grunt, grunt*)

Lest I shall place my big IMO here. Nuff about the Loaf of Meat.

Well well well, what a day.

Precious Things shipping in T-minus 7 days, approximately. Liner
printing is the holdup. I have to have them re-do the trays (new time
    frames).

RUSH: EXPERIENCE TO EXTREMES (2-CD) ordering is open. Please check
the web page for details (which I'll have up in a few moments) plus sound
samples!! of this and Virtual Songs.

SOUND SAMPLES on the WEB PAGE (http://www.goodnet.com/~durnik) are
about to be put up (in about ten minutes) but then again you already knew
    that.

Scenes From a Memory is GONE folks!! I have about ten prototypes
sitting here but that's IT. If you procrastinated, here's your eleventh
hour waitin' for you to act. :)

            Take care all!!

hey guys i know i havent posted in 54 years but i would like to know that
planetall has set up a public fan group with me as their administrator.
someone mentioned planetall a while ago on da jam so i checked it out.
it is a really cool inet service that sends you email periodically
informing you of current news, quote and joke of the day. the best part
is is that you can sign up under a group of a certain intrest (such as dt).
so ttt, (chug) my fellow ytsefreaks and visit planetall at:

    http://www.planetall.com

and sign up under "dream theater fan club" (this is the group name they
    gave me)

you can inform planetall of travel plans (such as going to a dt concert)
and it will let the other members of your group know by email. anyways,
    check it out for yourself.

p.s. my 5 commandments for percussionists:

            1. thou shall not wear a shirt while performing--preferably thou
                should be naked

            2. thou shall play standing up most of the time

            3. thou must have a shit-eatin' grin worn at all times

            4. thou shall not play in 4/4 for longer than 8 measures.

            5. thy drumsticks must be tossed asunder--and thy fists shall
pound thy living hell out of anything that can be used as a
percussion toy (the floor, the audience members, those people
who constantly say negative words about Jimmy, the Vox.

ok im tired now so im going to bed

    --rest well my fellow jammers
