How come anytime I say something it's causing trouble?? I guess you
were just kidding. Right D-man?? If I replied to every comment on
this list that I disagreed with I would have to put a toilet and a
    kitchen next to my computer.

Well, I have to agree with the first poster - I ordered several discs from
them and they all arrived today. I will admit that I live in Milwaukee (they
wouldn't let me pick them up - had to get them in the mail like everyone
else), so that may have something to do with it. At any rate perhaps they
were out of stock and didn't order any in - I had asked about Angra's demo CD
and they didn't have it - said it would be about 3 weeks. Anyway, I've had
good luck with them. Give them a call if your having trouble.

Just got off the phone with New York, and here is the complete itinery of
    the mini Euro-tour in April:

Sat. Apr 12 - Palalido, Milan, Italy
Mon Apr. 14 - Melkweg, Amsterdam, Holland
Tue. Apr. 15 & Wed. Apr. 16 - Noorderlight, Tilburg, Holland

And that is it, no others are scheduled as yet, and seems unlikely at
    present.

    For now,

But in the movie Fargo, the accents are crap, hailing from
Minnesota, I can tell you that the only people *I* know who talk like
that are my Grandmother and my Great Uncle.
I don't know about ND, but in MN and SD it is peoples choice that
they don't wish to be open on Sunday. Gives people time to play Pasture
Pool, hunt Bambi, watch some Gridiron games, and other worthwhile
escapades, as well as attend services. From my point of view, I'd much
rather be in MN than MA, but not much Astronomy is done in MN, so I went
to a place where I could pursue my career. MN is quieter, cleaner, the
people are a lot nicer, and we have more blondes out there :).

Well, it's cool to touch on topics outside of Dream Theater and
Prog... but not to make a lasting dominating thread about them. The last
couple jams have been all Metallica content, mostly fucknuts that are so
insecure that they feel they have to defend their beliefs that Metallica
rules. Most of the jam doesn't care about Metallica.
In the signup letter it is expressed that content outside of Dream
Theater while in the same genre (I.E. Fates Warning, Shadow Gallery,
etc...) is perfectly valid for discussion. It's also expressed that when
a thread goes out of control, the list admin will step in and let us know.
I believe he did that a while back. I just want to remind people that
this is not a Metallica list, and that there are people replying to other
metallica fan's comments, when that should be done over private e mail.

Let's not start a thread on the rules of the jam. I am happy to discuss
this by private e mail, or to forward you a copy of the signup rules.
    Just let me know: someone@prognosis.com

One wonderful QR fan either from the Jam or from the QR newsgroup
sent me a high quality .wav of this song, so I could give Maddy back her
tape of the tune. This is and has been my favorite QR song of all time,
and they didn't even write it! It has so much power! I will probably put
it on my page in .ra and mpeg3 format sometime soon. The .wav is HUGE.

If you buy an album, you don't have the responsibility to like it.
If you really care about that band, as in your case, you can learn to find
things you do like, and eventually dig the whole album. This is something
I do frequently. However it is NOT the responsibility of the fans to like
a band's new sound. I was not interested in Rush after hearing the new
album. I thought the lyrics were below what I'd come to expect. It is
not my job to accept that and support the band. That sort of approach
seems rather mindless. If you want to give an album a second chance,
great. You're doing more for a band than most people would. But don't
ever feel like you owe the band your time, or that you HAVE to find
something you like in the music. That's one way that bands sell out...
their fans believe they can do no wrong, and then they pull a money grab
with a new commercially acceptable sound. If you actively listen and the
music STILL does not appeal (this is often the case with an off key
vocalist or bad lyrics) then just let it go. You can be a fan of a band
    without liking every album.
If a band can continue to make music that makes them happy
MUSICALLY, then the vibe they create will keep their fans listening. If
they write music to make themselves financially happy, they don't usually
    keep that same energy.
To conclude, I am glad you like T4E. No sarcasm. But I found it
flawed irreconcilably, and I don't think there's anything wrong with not
buying the album AND STILL calling myself a Rush fan.

I agree with you to a point, that is I don't believe that drum trigger
tech has stayed up with other instrument technology - BUT, unless I'm
mistaken there are electronic drums and triggering mechanisims that at
least take a stab at drumming dynamics. Some do a pretty good job too.
I have listened to I&W as much (probably more) than most on this list
and I know of which you speak (the Metropolis piece) but I do remember
hearing some press rolls in LTL.

Don't misunderstand, I'm not drum triggering's biggest fan, but I do
think the people have knocked I&W on the triggering issue and tried to
take away from it's artisic beauty. My feeling is that I&W would have
been such a smash at least percussion-wise if we hadn't heard the drums
    the way the are.

    >My opinion on triggers is not based on

Then my statement was not directed toward you - there are always
    exceptions when these discussions ensue.

I don't see how a drummer interested in using dynamics in
    >their playing would even consider using triggers right now. Maybe in
    >10-20 years when they develop very sensitive drum pads.

I don't think we'll have to wait that long, but I get your point.

    >Are you a betting man, Mike? :)

Depends.. I'd win more than I would lose on this one.

    Hello folks!
You will never find someone who has less respect for the CMC
label than me. I had seen one of my top five bands, Saigon Kick, on each
of their first three tours, and was eagerly awaiting a new album from
them back in 1995. Then I find out they had already released an album on
the CMC label. I got it four months after its release, and missed the
entire tour. I had no constant access to the internet to keep checking
the web page, so I never got the info. When I did find out, I had to go
to three different store to find the album. They better not screw up when
SK releases their album this year. If I miss another tour, I'm goin' on a
    manhunt.
            As for this:

    >>And then there's Eddie VH who rips off of his own songs when he runs
    >>out of ideas. :)

I know this is a joke, but has anyone else noticed that the opening of
Aftershock sounds just like Megadeth's Bad Omen. It's uncanny, but I
doubt Eddie was ever a Megadeth fan.
Glad to see other Cheap Trick fans in here. Can't wait till April
    15. They've got a new album coming and so does INXS. Anyone else going to
buy the new Collective Soul next week? And am I the only one who will be
steering very clear of Private Parts.
And if there are any jammers in the Jacksonville, FL area, let me
know, I'm going to be there next week.

When TfE was released, I was so disappointed Interesting, 'cause I feel exactly oppositely.. I wasn't too impressed with "counterparts", with the exception of a couple of songs, and was pretty happy when I first heard TFE. I think they've released their best album in years. I like it better than RtB also. I hope you didn't let your disappointment keep you away from their tour this (last?) year - it was absolutely an incredible concert experience. 2112 in its entirety - need I say more? -Neil. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $ "The price is wrong... bitch." $ $ -Adam Sandler to Bob Barker, 'Happy Gilmore' $ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Ahh... I assume you're referring to "Runaround?" I'd be curious to hear which songs you think sound like Runaround. I don't think any songs from the last album have the same rhythm/vibe, with the possible exception of "Big Fat Money," and I can't hear the chorus of Runaround over that progression - it's too fast and busy, for one. -Neil. --------------------------------------------------------------- | "Lots of people think a song without singing is not a song. | | Tell that to Beethoven and he'll kick your ass." | | | | --Edward Van Halen-- | ---------------------------------------------------------------
