First of all, Enuff Z'Nuff are a great band. Second of all, they have

Interesting that you quote Howard Stern. In case you didn't know, Howard
Stern is a huge fan of Enuff Z'Nuff, so much so that he wrote the liner
notes to their excellent album "1985" and he mentions Chip Z'Nuff as one
of the celebrities he really gets along with in the book version of
"Private Parts." Not that Howard's opinion on music necessarily means
anything, but just thought you'd like to know.

On a different note, does anyone know of an MP3 site with some good DT
stuff? I've found some really good places on the Net for MP3's, but only a
couple had DT stuff and I already had those songs. I'd really like to get
my hands on some new live stuff, if possible. Any ideas?

First of all, it appears most people here can't read. I said "most
Megadeth fans". In my experience, I've found fans of that band to be
stupid. That's just a simple observation. I'm not trying to insult anyone
on this list, I'm just stating that I don't think most Megadeth fans would
appreciate DT. Sure there are plenty of people who do, but that wasn't the
point. I never said Megadeth fans couldn't like DT.
Man, some people on this list are so paranoid. I hate to bring this debate
up again, but two years ago I could've probably said the same thing and no
one would've been offended. A lot of other people have noticed the same
thing lately. Why are so many people on this list suddenly so easily
offended? SO GOOD GOD, LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE. WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU???

I don't like Megadeth. I've listened to all their albums, and I used to
think they were okay at one point, but I got bored and I really don't like
them. That's my opinion. As for this comment, you might be interested in
knowing that MOST (I assume) people listen to music for the MUSIC. If you
think I - and I'm sure the same applies to most people on this list - would
listen to a band because they have good rhythm guitarists, you need to get
a brain. And in my opinion, Megadeth's music is utter CRAP compared to
DT's (again, that's MY opinion - if you don't agree, don't bother arguing
becuase I'll just tell you to fuck off). I mean, Mustaine's the worst
singer I've ever heard in my life. Friedman could be 100 times better a
guitarist than JP, but with
that horrible singing, I would still think they suck.

Hello everyone. Thursday was a good day. I got my diplomas in the mail,
I met an Ibanez representative who told me all I could possibly want to
know about the new RG series 7-string that will be available to the
general public before the end of the summer, and when I left that guitar
shop, PMU was on the radio! I have heard PMU on the radio twice. The
other time was back in 1993 at 3:30 AM, which was the first DT I had
ever heard. I had to pull my car off to the side of the road and listen
to the song, of course, because I was so blown away. Then, when it was
over, I found a pay phone and I called the station (TK 101 in Pensacola,
Florida) and proceeded to cuss out the DJ for stopping the song before
it was over. In the middle of a measure, no less! Heheh :)
I'm a-gonna get me a 7-string soon :)
And I would have liked Dave Mustaine's side project (MD.45) a lot more
if he would have done the vocals himself. Since I'm doing the stream-of-
consciousness thing here, does anyone who reads guitar mags remember
Marty Friedman stating in an interview that he can't read music and
doesn't know a lick of theory? That struck me as odd, because I once
rented his instructional video, "Exotic Scales and Modes," and the
aforementioned statement does not mesh with what I remember from that
video. Hmmm....
And if anyone else has any of the underground David Allan Coe tapes,
I've got some of the songs, but I would like to trade to complete my
collection.

True. It makes it quite difficult for many people to find this variety.
If I didn't gain access to a computer I would have been doomed as far as
finding out about any new band from after about '93 or '94.

There is definitely some music that takes more talent by nature. But
there are still people out there who don't care what is put into the

Well, personally I think Dream Theater's the shittiest band to ever
come around. Same with Queensryche, Enchant, Shadow Gallery, and
every other prog band. The only reason I listen to them is because I
think KJLB has a cute butt.

I think even if DT does play lots of dificult stuff (great stuff),
Megadeth's Marty Friedman also kicks ass! Many guitar players
would love to see JP sharing stage with MF, and I personnally think
that Friedman's composition and technique skills are not that easy to
blow off by JP. MF does not apply at all his hole range of habilities
when playing in Megadeth, you should really listen to his solo
albums, this guy really rules and he's as good as JP!
Off course, MF would be the exception, because MP sureley could give
some drum lessons to Menza, and the same with JM to Eleffson, and
LaBrie to Mustaine (singing, of course), individually speaking.
These are both great bands, and even though many Megadeth fans
wouldn't know how to appreciate DT's exceptional live performance,
the huge majority would end up becoming DT fans as we are, so I think
it would be a great marketing opportunity for the band (even if they
surely won't see it that way!)

Part 5
"Before the leaves have fallen,

Metropolis watched, with a bit of joy on his face, but traced with a bit of
concern. He was grateful that this incident hadn't destroyed Dan and
Jennifer's relationship, since they did love each other very much. But now was
the problem of how to save them from the conflict that was currently happening.
"I need your help."
"Of course. I am here to advise you," Sleeper responded.
"I want to save Dan and Jen, but I don't know how to do it."
"Are you sure that's what you're supposed to do?"
Damn. That's right. As the spirit of the city, he had to think about _all_
the people. Not just the ones he was close to.
Sleeper interjected Metropolis' doubt, however. "Don't let me detract you from
what you need to do. That may be exactly what is needed here."
Metropolis thought about this as he watched the young couple below. He then
smiled and said, "Yes, this is exactly what they need. The union of the two
warring sides will bring them together at last."
"Then you should tell them."
Metropolis was amazed. "You mean I could have talked to them all along, and
you didn't tell me?"
"Well, I didn't think you were ready. And besides, you will need some help.
Miracle!"
"Yeah, you call?" Miracle piped up.
"We need you to establish a communication link between Metropolis and some
mortals."
"Ooh! Big time stuff! You think you can handle it?"
Metropolis smirked. "Yeah, I can handle it."
"Big talker," Miracle quipped.
---As Dan and Jennifer were locked in their passionate embrace on the hillside, they heard a voice come from the heavens.
"Dan! Jennifer!"
The two shuddered as they heard the voice call their name.
"Who is it?" Dan screamed.
"It sounds like Paul!" Jennifer answered.
However, it was Metropolis himself that gave the final answer. "In life, I was known as Paul Attredies, a friend and partner. However, my true name is Metropolis, the spirit of the city. My mission is to finally bring the warring factions together and bring this city to a great and final peace."
Dan responded to this statement. "But that is not possible. Each side has its own views that are both drastically opposing, and both sides are adamant. Neither will waive their position, because both feel that the other's position is destructive."
"Look at the two of you. You both come from opposing factions, and you are together. Why cannot the principle that brings the two of you together bring all the people of this city together?"
"Because between us is just a physical attraction. It's not something that can easily be transmitted to the rest of the people of the city."
Metropolis smiled as he spoke, although it almost sounded like Paul speaking instead. "I know the two of you better than that. You have something much more noble than just some petty lust or sexual magnetism. You have a psychic connection that binds you to each other, that will drive you to defend each other until death. That will aim to cure all misery within each other, and instill a sense of hope and joy. This force which has united the two of you is called...
"...love.
"This is the force which will bring the people of this city together. You must demonstrate this to the people of this city. You must set the shining example that will radiate to everyone, and then they will see what they must do."
"But it will be dangerous. The people are filled, not with love, but with hate. They will kill anyone who opposes them. How do we know we will not suffer the same fate."
"It is not your place to die, but to live, to bring about this, the third and last dance."
"I don't get it."
"Think about it. We have endured death together, when I was killed in the raid. Then, when we discovered that Jennifer was a member of the Yamato Militia, and a prominent one, we endued the pain of deceit. These were the first two dances of our lives. Now it is the time for the third. The third is love, and you must bring it to the people of this city."
"But, how do we know that we will be accepted?"
"There is nothing that you can do but try. If you are not accepted, then so be it, life will go on as it is now. But if you are accepted, then the virtue of life will be dramatically improved. The violence will cease, and people will work together to improve mankind instead of tear it down. This is why you must go and not fail. Go, now, and may the virtue of the ages be with you."

On the topic of Believer, yeah, most of the vocals are in the thrash/deaht/sorta shout/growl style (it's nto the low-end growl you find in a lot of death metal, though). The vocals are fairly discernable. They also include some female operatic vocals on Trilogy of Knowledge (from Dimensions) and Dies Irae (from Sanity Obscure). Speaking of Sanity Obscure, I just scored a trade for some old stuff for it, and The Crucified's 'Pillars of Humanity.' I recommend them for anyone who likes complex, tight, heavy sorta proggy thrash.

The Metropolis story is a story I came up with based on the lyrics to the song. It is not something that came from the band, this list, or anywhere else but my imagination. I'm posting it here because I thouh you guys might enjoy it.(Which I hope you are! :-) )

Metropolis Part 6
"It can only take place when the struggle between our children has ended.
Now the Miracle and the Sleeper know that the third is love.

"Nice speech, Aristotle," Miracle said.
"Bite me," repsponded Metropolis as they both chuckled.

Dan and Jennifer ran to the main city center to get their message to the people.
"Do you think they'll listen to us?" Jennifer asked Dan, a little concerned.
"All we can do is try. If they don't, there really isn't anything we can do."
Suddenly, there was an explosion. Dan was thrown back, and when he got up, he couldn't see Jennifer beside him.
"Jennifer! Where are you!"
"Over here! I'm all right! How about you?"
Before he could answer, there was another explosion. Out of instinct, he ran away from the explosions. By the time they had stopped, he had lost Jennifer totally.
So he did the only thing he could think of.
He kept running.
Hoping that she was all right.
And hoping she would stay all right.
And hoping he would stay all right.

"Damn!" Metropolis said furiously.
"What, what happened?" asked Miracle.
"Some whiz kids in the Saratoga found Dan and Jenny and started dropping bombs. They're both still alive, but they've been separated.
"Great, just what we need!"
"Not so fast, Miracle," Sleeper interjected. "This is a problem that is not possible to resolve. We do have the ability to bring them together again. In fact, this may be the perfect opportunity to show the people we are trying to reach the power that we are trying to show them."
"But how?" Miracle asked.
"Metropolis," Sleeper said, "You told Daniel and Jennifer that they would stay safe until they delivered their message, correct?"
"Yeah."
"Then you must deliver on your promise."
"But I made that promise thinking that it was the hand of fate that would protect them. How am I going to do it singlehandedly?"
"There is nothing that says you have to do it singlehandedly. You have two willing assistants who will help you. You have me, who has been your mentor through this entire process. I have given you any knowledge you have needed, or rather I have directed you to find that knowledge within yourself. I have no reason to cut you off from that now. And you also have Miracle, who will lend you his power in any way that you see fit to accomplish your mission."
At this moment, Metropolis arrived at his decision. "All right, I know exactly what I want done. I want all the belligerent parties to be unable to exercise any violence except fist fights until Dan and Jenny find each other. And I want them to remain hidden until I determine that the time is right."
And at that moment, Miracle was serious for the first time in his life. "Whoah, that's pretty deep I'm not sure I can do it."
Metropolis turned to Sleeper. "Do you think that's possible?"
"To have originally considered this course of action would have gone against our creed to maintain the free will of mankind. It would have taxed our powers for too long a time, prevented us from using that power for more worthwhile purposes, and would have prevented the course of humanity from taking its natural path. But as a temporary course of action, I think it would be acceptable."
Miracle instantly jumped in with, "Yeah, but is it possible?"
"Have faith, my friend. We all make mistakes. Even those of us with power as great as ours. Yes, we try to be perfect, but even we are prone to occasional flaws. Nevertheless, we are also capable of doing good, and doing it successfully. Do this, Miracle, and you will be pleasantly surprised at what you accomplish."
"Very well. But, I'll need your help to do it, Metro. Don't fail me."
"I'll try not to."
