I dunno. I can honestly say, however, that I have yet to hear the song the same way twice. Maybe he just meant they're working on getting a studio recording done of it. Too bad they didn't leave that outro solo on the studio. What is that one? Moon Bubbles? Barfbag? I know the one after that was Showdown, or was the whole thing Showdown? That's always bugged me, never figured it out, don't think it's for sure in the FAQ either, I may be wrong...

    Hiya folx.

I just thought i'd mention (as someone did before) about this Silverwave records co. They're a label specializing in New Age and Native American music. I just got my sampler CD today and it's all pretty good. There's only two songs I didn't really care for, one being a salsa type song. There's actually a couple of CDs I'm tempted to check out.

Get your FREE sampler CD by going to: http://www.silverwave.com/contest.html

I'll even give you the answers....

    a. Aras c. Flute b. Lorin Greene (this one sounds kewl) d. Trio Globo a. How the West Was Lost c. Joanne Shennandoah

Of course some of this sounds like the stuff they play in the background at Albertson's, but so far it's rather enjoyable.

It only took them about a week to send me my CD, too. :) Sounds like a reliable place to me. :)

    Greeting fellow Jammerz!

You all may find this interesting.... While browsing the Ibanez home page, I followed the artists link to the section on John Petrucci and look at the following tidbit I found: (Note the Current Status part)

    *snip*

Band: Dream Theater Style: Progressive Rock

    Label: Elektra=20

    Guitarist: John Petrucci=20

    Main Guitar: Production JPM100

Current Status: Dream Theater is preparing to go into the studio in March to record their first full-length album for Elektra. John recently recorded a 30 minute audio lesson tape for Ibanez that will be included with the purchase of a new Rock & Play II practice unit.

    *snip*

If this is true, I don't think we could have asked for anything better for the band. Has anyone else heard this, or is this something WAY old that I never picked up on?!?! I hope it's true, because just imagine the possibilities with Elektra behind the band!!!!

How would selling a boot to people on THIS list hurt sales? Everyone here is a damn DT groupie are would probably eat the corn out of JP's shit if given the chance (no offense). Why would anyone spend 25-30 bucks on a live bootleg (whose quality is intrinsically probably worse than the original) and not buy the CD for 12 bucks when it comes out, but spend 2 hours every fucking day sifting through loads of garbage with the hope of maybe picking up some miniscule morsel of DT-related information? I (obviously) totally support this effort, and if Jeremy needs any help.... don't ask me, I'm in medical school and fucking really BUSY!!! :) ---Ba ba booey

Sorry for the long NDTC post, but I've just got to defend one of my all time favorite CDs. IMHO, "The Graveyard" most certainly does not suck! It's the best release of last year. "The Spider's Lullabye" and "A Dangerous Meeting" are excellent too. As for Mercyful Fate, I've got "In The Shadows", "Time", and their new one, "Into The Unknown" and they're all great. My only problem with the new MF is that it's way too short, under 45 minutes. To everyone who's heard "The Graveyard" and says it sucks, how about explaining why? I'll try to explain why I love it so much. It tells a complete, well written story, over the course of 14 songs and 61 minutes. I think of this CD as one long song that's divided into 14 parts, and the sum of those parts is greater than the parts themselves. The music is really good, with lots of heavy guitars and keyboards, and sets a great mood for the story. The musicianship is good, if not great, but that's not what this CD is about. It's a story set to music, like watching a movie. KD is playing the lead role through his superb vocals. He really gets into the character of an escaped mental patient, who seeks revenge on the mayor who had him locked away for crimes the mayor himself committed. There's much more to the story, so buy the CD to find out the rest. :) When I'm listening to this CD I find myself visualizing it as if I'm reading a good book. I always start with the first track and can't help but listen right through to the last track. There are few CDs in my collection where I never skip tracks. Even with my DT CDs, I usually find myself skipping over the slower songs. For me, listening to this CD, in it's entirety, is a thoroughly engrossing experience unlike any other CD I've ever heard. What else can I say but, King Diamond's "The Graveyard" rocks my nadz! :)

As for the question "Do you think that KD *really* is a Satanist or is it just a gimmick to sell records?", I'd guess that it's true, but I don't really care what his beliefs are, as long as he continues to make music that entertains me.

To those who actually like "The Graveyard", what do you think the song "Daddy" is about? It seems to me like it's getting into the background story of KD's character but it doesn't seem to fill in all the details. Maybe there'll be a sequel to "The Graveyard" that takes place in the childhood of KD's character. That would be really cool. :)

Regarding the post about Bela Fleck and the Flecktones:

Someone DOES make something similar to the drumitar thing they use. Its called the ZenDrum and I read in an interview that the guy from the flecktones use one of em sometime. Also, I am readlly into fusion and prog, should I check out this group?? Ive never heard anything from them, but Ive heard some good things.. what are they like.

Other stuff.. Why does everyone get so excited at finding LATM for $16???? I got it for $11 at Best Buy..

I picked up WDADU today at my favorite record store... It ROCKS!!! Id heard most of the songs before (LATM, IAW Live in Tokyo, etc), and they are definately great songs.. the quality is GREAT too, which I didnt expect. Immediately recognizable as DT.. plus Charlie Dominici isnt bad.. he isnt great either tho. I also picked up Metallica's AND JUSTICE FOR ALL (its cool man, ive been wanting to get this one for a while, just always put it off), Slayers DIVINE INTERVENTION (rockin, very thrashy), Megadeth's first CD KILLING IS MY BUSSINESS.. AND BUSSINESS IS GOOD (I finally find the ORIGINAL PRESSING with These Boots on it.. I think its pretty rare, so I picked it up even though I already have the other version of the CD.. and I got it for only $8!!), and last but CERTAINLY not least, Cacaphoney's SPEED METAL SYMPHONY. It ABSOLUTELY ROCKS!!! Ive never really heard any dual lead stuff quite like it before, and it RULES... Marty Friedman and Jason Becker are gods..

My guess would be because the version on the Lie single (recorded circa 1994) is rather different from, say, the version on the Milan '93 boot, and they probably *were* still adding the finishing touches.

Leave it to a grad student to inject this sort of logic into the debate. :) In all seriousness, though, I think Sean brought up some points that are vital to this discussion.

I had a discussion recently with my mother about the new ratings for tv shows. I told her why I dislike them - you know, people I didn't choose are choosing what gets rated how, yada yada - and she brought up an interesting point. It doesn't really matter what gets classified as what, as long as the classification is consistent. Even if "TV-14" means stuff that people really ought to be 18 to view, as long as the definition is consistent (if poorly named), everyone knows what everyone's talking about. Something to consider when classifying music.
