In Re. to concept albums SAVIOR MACHINE has just released Part One of what
will be a 3part concept album. Parts 2 and 3 released Jan 1998 and Jan 1999
respectively. I have not heard this album but all reports say it is BETTER
    than thier previos stuff....
If anyone knows thier first album you will know it was amazing ...
I think if you like DT and prog metal you will like these guys. The album
called LEGEND ... is being billed as the soundtrack to the end of the
World... and the 'story' is aparrently based on the phrophetic an
    Apocolyptic books of the Bible....
When I get I will let u's all know what i think...

Don't fret, it's probably something silly, like the liner notes are in

This post's really more of a backpatting one -- 7th Grade Commando Chorus,

This rumor has been floating around ever since Gary joined the band. I'll
believe it when I hear something official.

The only people I've ever met who get defensive after hearing drummer
jokes are people who call themselves drummers and know they suck.
Drummers who are confident about the way they play usually just laugh it
off and hit me back with a bass-player joke, after which I usually go tell
my mom and cry in my room for a while.

Not me. That's my second-listen ritual. First listen of any new disc, I
just sit back and let it affect me. Preferably with headphones on. I
want to see what I get out of the music as it is, before I see what I can
get out of it with external help. If the music can't stand up without
liner notes and such, then I probably won't listen again after that second
    listen.

    But that's just me.

Okay, I know I am going to sound completeley stereotypical here, but I do not care. I was just on spring break, and while I was back home I happenned to drop by the Best Buy in my neighborhood. There they have this machine called MUZE that tells you all the commercial stuff that any band has out. Well I just wanted to make sure I had it all, so I typed in DT and out came the list. Well I looked it over and noticed that I had forgotten that there was alive video out, Works in Progress: Live in Tokyo. Well I started prayin that it ight be there. So I started on my way towards the music video section. I rounded a corner, and sitting right there was the video. I snatched it up, paid for it and flew out the door in order to take a look at it.

Before I tell you what I thought of the video, let me tell you I have not seen them in concert yet and that this is the first time that I had seen anything of them live. So what did I think?

OOOOHHHHH MY GOD!! These guy's go beyond the pale of what I thought f---ing awesome was. I can't do anything but sit mesmerized during Mike's solo, I drool over the speed that John and John have in their hands, and even though Kevin might be gone now he was still awesome, and of course James was awesome too. These guys are just incredible. Hey, and I even got to hear a song I hadn't heard before (To Live Forever). All in all one of the best buys (no pun intended) I have made in a long time.

Hey!!! I'm a drummer.... well.... sortof... and I suck!!! I'm offended...

But honestly... progressive music is based so much on rhythm that most prog drummers tend to be fairly proficient... not to knock Portnoy, he is really incredible, but he tends to drift in his timing a lot. On the other hand, Mark Zonders never drifts in his timing, he's almost a drum machine... (this is all live of course)

Jeez, lighten up people, there are jokes for all of em...

"Oh damn, fuck, I've so much gotten used to the almighty taste of those good ol' records that I think I go get my AC/DC and Motorhead instead. At least they never sell out."

Bullshit. I know it when I see it.

If a musician gets creative, it's widely accepted as something at least tolerable. If a cook at MacDonald's gets creative, he gets fired. The metaphor you selected won't do, thus eliminating the probable, though nonexistent, amount of useful characters in your posting.

To an extent, it was funny though. I even forgot about the background.

Let me tell you a quote:

"You're so full of what is right you can't see what is good."

Ah, and there's another suitable one:

"You walk thru life, deaf, dumb and blind."

Some people will never understand why such an old dummie like Shakespeare ("gosh, he lived some CENTURIES ago? don't we have anything newer to cover?") is regarded to as good. I'm not comparing Shakespeare to Cornell to Vedder, only pointing out the obvious, ie. drawing parallels.

Some have that sense of poetry, some don't. All have the freedom of choice. Or may I call it slavery of choice?

Vedder is a good lyricist, so is Cornell. This is not an opinion.

After listening to the new 'Ryche cd for the millionth time, heres a little bit of irony- probably coincidential.

Sign Of The Times- compared to Lillian Axe by some people, also the name of a Lillian Axe song from Psychoschitzophrenia

Reach- compared to Collective Soul by some, also the name of a Collective Soul song off the HAATLU CD.

All I Want- compared to Saigon Kick- also the name of a Saigon Kick song off The Lizard

Hit The Black- compared to Metallica by some- put 2 Metallica titles together- Fade To Black and Hit the Lights and you have Hit The Black.

This is probably all coincidential but still... By the way, the names of the songs are incredibly generic... Miles Away- A Savatage song and I think a Winger song... You- a Candlebox song Hero- a Warrior Soul song

Still a cool disc though in some ways.
