Let's say this is true; then why do so many people come here
from other countries to study? I canstantly hear of people who
are very successful in their home country that got their degree
in America. To me, that says volumes.

Yes, to me America *is* the greatest country in the world. I was born
here and I'll probably die here. I would hope that your home is #1 to
you also. If not, then maybe you need a new home. I'm not *even*
suggesting America doesn't have a lot of problems, it does. But
compared to a lot of places that we pretty much support financially
America is heaven. Which brings another point. When America has
a disaster of some kind we take care of it. When a lot of other
countries have a disaster the first thing they do is call America.
So maybe if some of us walk with a certain swagger you can't
blame us too much.

The *only* time I see Americans get into their "We're the Greatest"
mode is when someone attacks us. I have *never* posted about
America being better than anyone unless someone else strikes
first.

HI, first let me say thank you to all the people who have contributed
midi files to the many DT web pages. They are all great with one problem
on my end: All drum track sound like instruments, making them sound off
key and out of tune. Would someone please help me fix this? I've used
midi on other people's computers, and they all have drum track set as
acoust grand piano like mine, but theirs all sound like real drums. Will
someone tell me how to fix this? Thanks

I just got done reading the latest Images and Words-the DTIFC newsletter.
In the interview with James, he says that after the album comes out and
after the tour he will do the vocals for the next Victor (laughs), then DT
will do it all over again.
Well... What does that mean? Will Labrie do the next Victor with Alex
LIfeson album? I can't beleive the interviewer didn't try to follow up on
this statement.

This morning I heard on the radio that Metallica is forced to
break-up because of James condition with Tinnitus. It's so bad that
the ringing' in his ear is driving him insane. I can't imagine how
bad his condition is because I've got a slight case in one ear and
it gets annoying when its real quiet, especially at night. I feel
for him and the band, I hope that this will publicly expose the
awareness and dangers of loud music or sounds.

Alright. 'Bout VR.
I have their albums left on Atlantic and Brunette. I recommends you
"Welcome To The Ball" and "Word Of Mouth". Well,about their 5th and the
last with Carl Albert (R.I.P.),Go and Buy this one. Carl did owesome vocal
performance. His master-piece. You can't leave from your speaker. The first
track "Against The Grain" and track-5,6 "Thunder And Rain" (dedicated to
Chris Oliva (Savatage)), track-7 "No Fate" are some kind of "Rock master
piece",don't you think that?
The latest one titled "Something Burining" are fronted by Geoff
Thorpe,well he did it well, it's very hard to perform as the replacement of
Carl, but somethingmissing. Don't ya think that,too?

Well, you give an excellent example. First you try to make us non-

Please don't start a flame war now! I also made the experience that Americans
didn't know anything about the Old World, but then I thought, hell, what do I
know about the US? I don't know all of the states, I don't know all your
presidents, and I don't care where Memphis, Tennessee is located ;-))
But please, think a moment. For me it's "the USA". I really don't care for
the single states. What are you? I guess most of you would say "Americans".
Not "New Yorker", or "Californian", or something. And I'd say that I'm a
"German", not a "Nordrhein-Westfale". Yes, Germany also has its "states", or
why do you think it's called "Federal Republic"? Do you know all names of
these "states"? Or of the ones of Austria? No, you don't. It's not important,
anyway, but you should at least know something about the countries.
You tell everybody that it took less time to travel though Belgium than from
one end of L.A. to the other, but every little Dutch cobbelstone has more
culture and history in it as half of the USA put together, so please be
careful. It's not quantity, it's quality!
And Jeremy, I'm still doubting the quality of the American educational system.
as long as there are still some college students who can tell you the names of
all the states in the USA, but are not able to show you the USA on a world
map... "Whoa, what's all this around the States? Must be Russia or something!"
Of course there are many bad things about our educational system here in
Germany, too, but at least I'm not so ignorant to pretend that it's the best
of the world.

Try again, This one war written by a 'dumb Brit' namely Jimmy Page. This song appeared on one of his projects after he left Zep. I used to have this CD but it didn't appeal to me so I traded it, the above lyrics just one of the many reasons why. It was just a cheesy album. period.

Ah, yes. Another of the "I haven't heard you do any better" school of argument. If that's all you can do to rebut someone's point, well, that's pretty sad. If the Doc is wrong, illustrate that by solid examples, not by the, "well, you can't do any better" Method. It's weak. Odds are none of us can do any better than Portnoy, but that doesn't mean the Doc can't be right in his criticism/comparison.

Vocal strength? David Lee Roth? This is funnier than all the country bashing posts. I love Dave with all my heart, I love Sammy and Gary too. But Dave has nothing left vocally. You can hear him strain on Me Wise Magic in some places. Vocalists can get past their prime. I think Dave has. I hold Gary second only to KJLB in vocal quality, and his lyric writing is far better than Dave, IMHO. Strength is something that anyone who has seen Extreme live wouldn't debate. Speaking of Dave and stupid lyrics, can anyone tell me the meaning of any of the songs on A Little Ain't Enough? Great music, lousy lyrics. Me, nitpicker.

Well, it's time for my (abbreviated) review of Thunder's CD, "Behind Closed Doors." If you aren't familiar with Thunder, I should start by attempting to pigeon-hole them into a musical genre, which I hate to do, but... Thunder are a sort of ACDC- meets-Bad Company band. They are more diverse than ACDC, and less soulful than Bad Company. The singer, Daniel Bowes, is sort of reminiscent of a less talented Paul Rodgers. He is fairly effective, though. The songs range from good-time rockers (I would neither describe Thunder as metal nor pop metal. I guess they are a "heavy rock" kind of band.) to the obligatory balladry. The production is good. I found myself a bit bored with this record, though. I had "Backstreet Symphony," which was a US release. I think that was a stronger, more consistant record than this one. I feel there are a few too many slower tempo tunes on "BCD" for my tastes. All in all not a bad record, but I would have a hard time recommending it to the jam, unless one likes the traditional bar-band brand of whiskey rock. If so, it's not a stretch to say you might enjoy this.

Yes, but I'm going to take *that* to private e-mail. I thought I'd respond in public to the three screen-length post about drivel and nonsense that have nothing to do with music even remotely.
Had you said something like, "Take a look at these lyrics! Only an American educational system could produce a lyricist this bad!" or "These jokers at Elektra must all be Americans! They're *so* dumb!" or "All the Canadian prog bands manage to visit the south and the west! What's wrong with these American bands?", then I'd probably have been ok with this post.
