Hey people, I have a few questions and comments:

    1) I was going through the Knights of the Round Table catalog yesterday
and I noticed that both Behind by Superior and APSOG had versions with one
extra song. Any info on how these songs are, if they really exist?

    2) I bought the new Mighty Mighty Bosstones today. The music is really
cool, but I was disappointed that it only lasts about half an hour. It
doesn't feel really good to spend $17 for only half an hour of music.
Still, the music is good quality Bosstones.

    3) I don't know if my last post made it to the jam, but, just in case, I
said that, now that there have been some recent DT shows in Europe, isn't
it very probable that there will be some new bootlegs coming out??????

    Well, that's it. Peace carnales.

I've read that a couple of you guys think said that the instrumental section
of Metropolis doesn't seem to belong.IMO you guys should rethink that, because
you didn't write it. MP said that it was a huge opertunity to delve into all
kinds of odd meters and polyrhythms. So,you know as well as I do that I&W
really established DT as a force in prog metal and they really needed that
kind of push in the album. The instrumental section DOES belong. Besides it
just wouldn't be the same without it.

I know, I know. I am like a week behind on all of this. Fates APSoG,
excellent. I enjoy all of it and Kevin Moore's playing is superb. I
wish and don't wish that he was still in Dream Theater.
Kevin Smith, he is the man. Chasing Amy is his best work yet. Not
only did he take his comedy to the extreme but he actually involved a
plot, a taboo plot at that. "Dogma" his next work, should prove to be
his best work yet. I can't wait. If you didn't see Clerks or Mallrats,
but saw Chasing Amy, you need to see the two films and pic out the
subtle humor that was transferred throughout the film. Other than that,
have a good one everyone, lata, J

    >As for opening bands for Queensryche, why not have Type O Negative open.
How about because they suck (and their frontman even admits it)?
I'm glad it was still light enough during their set to see my _Promised

Isn't there something wrong with Cheap Trick opening for Stone
Temple Pilots? Cheap Trick was around when Stone Temple Pilots were in
junior high. Unfortunately, this happens all the time, like when
Soundgarden opened for Guns N' Roses, King's X opened for Pearl Jam, etc.

To whom it may concern: I just found out that I'll be in the ninth
row when Rush plays in Camden, NJ on June 22. Hallelujah!!! (Praise be to
    Lee, Lifeson and Peart)

I have good news: since I just subscribed to the Kiss list, I might
have less time to post to this one. (The bad news is I might not post to

I personally think that kevin left simply because he wanted to do his own
stuff. Being in a band is like a marriage... always compromising, so if you
really want to make your own stuff, and make it sound how YOU want it to,
you have to go on your own. And his playing on the FW has nothing to do with
it... they're friends, he probably needed a gig, etc.... of course, only Kev
knows why he left. I'm just guessin'...

and on another point... DT's new stuff grungier ?!? It's definitely
heavier...and has a more groovy rock feel to it, but i don't hear any grunge
there. Of course, I have a hard time defining grunge anyways, because IMO it
was created by recording companies to make mucho dinero. It was more of an
    image than a sound.

And as for them losing their proginess, I'll wait till I hear Met.II to
    state an opinion:)

This isn't really unusual, When I saw "Uncle" Ted Nugent in 1981,
Humble Pie opened up for him. Even though a good arguement
can be made for STP opening up for CT, but when I saw CT here
in Palo Alto in March, they played at a club with a 850 capacity &
it only sold out three days before the show, even though tix were
on sale only a month. STP is headlining 10,000 seat venues.

Well, since next weekend is Mom's Day and D-Man and I love our moms we are gonna be home on Long Island. And since D and I haven't seen each other in a while, we are planning on going out for some (lots?) drinks on Saturday Night May 10th. And since D-Man and I are such wonderful guys (and we love meeting jammers ;) we would like to extend the invitation to all of you. So, if you live on LI (or close to it) and are up for doing something Saturday night with a bunch of Dream Theater freaks (or just plain old freaks ;) send me some email and I will send out more details later in the week.

    Later! Skadz

What I think QR should do about the opening act on their tour(For that matter, what I think _every_ band should do for the opening act on their tours) is get a very cool band that no one has ever heard of. DM did that on their SoFaD tour when they came to Indy 3 years ago and had Stabbing Westward and Primal Scream open for them. That way, new bands get more exposure, and the established acts get exposed to new music and new influences.

    Just my 2 cents.

Actually, now that you mention it, the best opening band would be:

    NO opening band!

Think about it; they already play for about 2:15 anyway, take out the opening band and add :30 to the QR set. They could do it like Rush and break it up into two sets if they wanted. I say this because *except* for the new album, the last record I liked was Mindcrime. This way, the bandwagon jumpers who only liked them for Empire could get their songs and maybe those of us who've been there since the ep was released in 1983 can get some of *our* faves too.

I landed an original copy of Subconscious today (thanks Matt!!!) and no longer need my CDR version (James Colberg special), so I'd like to sell it for $15 ppd. The disc costs $25 new, and is a digital-to-digital replica (no signal loss due to D/A-A/D conversion) so it sounds exactly like the original, and has a nice cover and tray liner that is very similar to the original.

    Email if interested. Thanks.
