I wouldn't say that. I found my green Universe last summer for $800 with case.
The only problem is that the tone knob didn't work at first. It's actually
kinda' funny. I looked in every shop in Nashville and Memphis, and none of them
had one, then I just happen to look in a little guitar shop in Florence Al while
a friend of mine was looking in a pet shop three stores down, and there it is.
:) I made the down payment before asking the price!

    Well everyone,

D-Man is in the hospital, according to a friend, for a Kidney stone.
This is supposedly one of the worst pains a human can endure, second only to
a Spice Girls marathon. Keep him in your prayers, and maybe donate a case
of Mountain Dew or two. Take care, everyone.

It was a great show. The crowd seemed more into it than they
did during the November shows. My gripes: what was the deal
with the lack of lasers during Red Sector A (missed seeing
TFE)? And why the hell did only 1 in 10 (if that) people
know what to do during 2112 overture? I mean, not that big
of a deal, but when the music pauses for a moment and the
lights illuminate the crowd (added to the fact that a few
people were raising their fist into the air at the appropriate
moment) should have caused at least a _few_ people clue in.
Duh! And sorry we missed you after the show Scott. There
will be other shows, oh yes...
And when the hell is Queensryche coming to the Bay Area?

    1) this may seem like a long shot, but i thought i'd try anyway. i've
got an original subconscious (#044) and acoustic dreams (#408), both
initialed by mike bahr, that i'd be willing to trade for the first two
echolyn cds. not tape dubs, not cd dubs, but the originals.

    2) i've had angra's holy land disc for a while now and, well, i can't
stand it. after many listens i just can't get into it. so i'm
selling it. $20 s/h included (if you're in the US anyway). the disc
    is in perfect condition.

    mail me privately.

    thankya.

Instead of getting all heated up and pissed off once again
over idiotic comments being made about JLB (you know how I get),
I've decided to change my approach this time.

Instead of filling the jam with more of my defense on JLB's
behalf, I decided to blow it off and instead post some useless
DT humor (something we need from time to time around here).

Here goes, in the past we've heard all the mis-interpretations
of DT lyrics...welp, here is one of mine, and as stupid as it
is, I don't think this one has ever been mentioned:

Caught in a Web: "this turn of phrase we might not see,
is the thirst of desire found so easily"

What I heard: "this terd of praise, with might not seen, is the
first dump that I've had so easily"

There ya have it, sick as it may be...made me chuckle <G>

For anyone who has Spock's Beard's "Beware of Darkness" disc, listen to the
title track. The line "Watch out now, take care, beware of thoughts that
linger" sounds a lot like "Watch out now, take care, beware of farts that
    linger..."

I hear the same thing every time I listen to that too. :) You'd think he would have been extra careful to get the pronounciation just right during that passage. :)

hi everyone! It happened on April 30th.The show was about 1h20 and it was impressive. There were there about 1000 people just to saw and heard him playing. He played some new songs of the new DT album. He had a DAT playing at the same time (without guitar of course). He said the new album will be released on fall and it is not a double CD album (it was a rumor here in Portugal).Probably DT will be here on winters 98 (cool). I have about 40min video-record of Petrucci Show. Bye Everyone.

Well, this is one more of the Non-Dream Theater content messages (let's hope we can make the number of NTDC messages to zero). APSoG stands for A Pleasant Shade of Grey, if I'm not mistaken. And is the new album of Fates Warning with Kevin Moore on keybords.

    Hope this helps, Roger...

    >>The big problem is that QR is on the downward side as far a >>popularity goes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- I will have to disagree with the above statement. I have never heard so much QR on Dallas radio, even when we had a local Z-Rock affiliate (it sux that Z-Rock corporate is located in Dallas and we can't hear it!).

HitNF is doing quite well, from what I can tell. Every QR album since (and including) O:M has gone platinum (1 million in sales), and I think HintNF will keep that string intact.

Tate and DeGarmo did a pre-release promo and signing party here, and the turn-out was incredible. Hundreds of fans had to be turned away.

Here's hoping for DT as an opening act (especially since I have a backstage pass!)

    Hi DreamHeads!

Concerning the thing about LaBrie: I have the opinion that James LaBrie is definetly the weakest point in the "art of Dream Theater". Esepecially live he doesn't fit to the technical brilliance the musicians have. I think that a singer like Ray Alder, Harry Conklin or Charlie Dominici (WHAT a voice he had!!) would better fit to DT than LaBrie.

What do the other people think?

    >>Just a quick review of the Spock's Beard show in Fremont, CA on 5/10...... >>........The drummer was pretty good....... ------------------------------------------------ The drummer, Nick D'Virgilo, is one of 2 session drummers that Genesis is using on the up-coming, initial post-Collins release. It is slated for earlyfall '97, and is said to be darker and more progressive than the last several Genesis albums. The new singer, Ray Wilson (formerly of the band Stiltskin), has a voice that is suited quite well to the older, Gabriel-era music.

Here is hoping for a return to previous form (progression by regression?).

Mountain Dew wouldn't be nice in this case. Actually it would be harmful for him because the phosphoric acid in the soda would encourage the reoccurence of kidney stones. (Alternative Medicine: the definitive guide pg. 942) He needs to drink plenty of clean water like 6-8 glasses a day. Cranberry juice is helpful in flushing out the kidneys and eliminating bacteria in the tract. According to my bible here, the foods he needs to avoid depends what deposits he has in his kidneys. I won't go into detail here, but if he chugs down to many beers, soda he'll definately need to eliminate that. ;)

Yeah... can you say... Fates? I picked up my copy of APSoG last week (when it came out here in Canada), and it wasn't as good as I had hoped. Then again, after seeing everyone cream over this album for a couple of weeks, I guess nothing except maybe "Images & Words II" could've lived up to my expectations.

I still think it's a damn good song, and there are several parts that kick ass. But there are a couple of parts that just piss me off and cause me to skip over sections. One in particular that comes to mind is the beginning of one part (forget which), where this hideously simple bass riff is repeaed for about 3 minutes (the first 1 minute of which is solo). Now they may be sticking to a single theme, but if you ask me, THAT has no point. Not being able to deviate from one riff and maintain the same feeling to a song is just poor songwriting and lack of creativity.

ummmm, lemme check what tape is in my walkman right now.....why, it's Brian Wherry's spring 97 demo.......imagine that....... basically, I like this a lot, fulfills the web sound clips' promise...... don't mind the lack of vocals.....for me, personally, vocals/lyrics are around the last thing i listen for......

thing i like best maybe are the background 'atmospheres' you've got floating in the background, they 'complete' the songs sonically for me.....and of course the up-front fireworks are pretty darn cool, too....

Heard a description once, (it might be on his web page) that the music is metropolitan sounding (as in track 5, I&W).......I'd say that is a fair starting point of reference..... so, I'd think y'all would do well to follow up on this tip, and contact brian bwherry@bu.edu for info about how to obtain his demo

2 points of clarification....this started out as a personal review to the guy, which is why i keep drifting in and out of the 1st/third person stuff b) About the subject....Boston U. beat Michigan in NCAA hockey semis, and I was sorta pissed about it for a while....I'm ok now, really i am.....
