Oh I see, so she got all hot and turned on and she
didnt have time to read the directions, so in the throws
of passion she ran into the kitchen and made some toast
to put her vaginal contraceptive on.

Makes sense to me...sounds to me like that was quicker
for her than learning how to read :)

No, that's not true, Lars. The majority of the people who listen to
mainstream music have NEVER even heard of DT. I meet all kinds of
people interested in music and I mention Dream Theater and I get a
big, "Who?" I actually had one guy hit it pretty close by saying,
"Are they kinda like Rush, I heard they were good, but never
listened to them before." I subsequently gave him my Dream Theater
car tape. Another big reason for Dream Theater to be unliked by most
mainstream listeners is because it's just "not cool" to listen to
stuff like this. I went to High School, I know how it goes.
Whenever my friends and I would go music shopping, they would explain
to me why it was "not cool" to listen to Joe Satriani, or how it was
"not cool" to listen to Rush. Very pathetic reasons, too. I think
it's more because these people are afraid that they're parents will
like it and they wouldn't be able to be so deliberately rebellious
anymore. Teenage rebellion's been on sale for years. MTV
monopolizes it. Why would they want to give that up?

Anyway... I'm going to Rush tomorrow night at the Delta Center in
Salt Lake City. Any SLC jammers better find me and say Hi. I'll be
in Row 16 in the Ytsejam shirt covered with the blue plaid flannel
shirt (I like the heat :) and the blue Arizona shorts. My
brown hair's about Fabio length and I'll definitely be wearing my
green and whit Philidelphia Eagles hat BACKWARDS!

BTW, if I look pissed off and "Don't fuk with me" it's cuz I haven't
met any fellow jammers yet, so say hi. :)

I suppose this is a good a time as any to make the first announcement.

Mike Kizer and I have reached an agreement to co-maintain a FW mailing =
    list.
The only holdup right now is the fact that I just moved. I don't quite=
     have
all my stuff reconnected. But as soon as it is, we'll get the list set=
     up and
    running.

Once we have something working, I will post an announcement with detail=
    s on how
to sign up. Until then, please do not ask me what the address of the l=
    ist is.
There isn't one yet, but there will be one soon.

So, the bottom line, you ask? All you Fates Warning fans, keep your ey=
    es
pealed for further info, be thinking of good names for the list, and, m=
    ost
importantly, please be patient. Mike and I have never done this sort o=
    f thing
before so things may be a bit rough in the beginning.

Well Partha... if it makes you feel any better, your 23rd birthday
is going to be even more meaningless than your 22nd. :) Mine came and
went, and I honestly don't think my life changed one micron. My 24th
should be suitably drab as well. At least at 25 I can rent cars and my
auto insurance rate will drop through the floor... though getting married
also had the same effect on that.

Just letting everyone know, PT and TDOW shipping is going quite
normally. Shit, it's almost _boring_. Virtual Songs should ship more or
less on schedule. The variable will be how soon I do (or don't) get the
    liners from the print shop.

I'm thinking of commencing orders on the next project, since
everything else is cranking right along and only E2E is in limbo (still
pre-production). I should get enough money from my wedding-reception party
next week to buy a few more gigs of hard drive space, and the increase
from 7 gig to around 10 should be enough to accomodate another CD project
and push E2E into ready status. What do you all think? The main people I
don't want to alienate are those who have waited like five months for
their PT discs... though thankfully most of them seem to be arriving
safely at this time in the mail.

what?!? Someone has a problem with Satanic lyrics?!? Actually I found
that on Samael's "Passage" the Satanic lyrics have been somewhat toned
down but they still aren't very nice....Some Samael I heard was pretty
dang Satanic and the name itself doesn't lend one to a picture of a
    family sitting in church..

Well, as far as the classification of what is and isn't black metal, I
think it's become something almost like "progressive" in that a lot of
bands coming out are using the Black Metal description because it fits
their personal definitions but doesn't necessarily fit the definitions
of the original stuff. In fact, when I first heard Samael, I considered
it to be really good death metal type stuff but then I saw it classified
as Black so I said "wow. some black metal is cool." Like I said, the
Emperor and Mayhem I heard wasn't real impressing to me, so maybe I
don't like true black metal after all...

As far as Cradle of Filth live, I too am VERY curious as to how well
they pull off the vocals live..there is some sort of festival in
Milwaukee in July and CoF is playing with Venom (are they black metal?
old school black metal?) so some Americans may find out....And for the
story with the shirt...hehehe..my friend has the shirt on order and I
bet A LOT of people around here aren't going to take too kindly...

In the (well not really) vein, fans of Carcass may be interested in the
fact that Black Star, featuring the remnants of Carcass, have signed
with Peaceville Records and will be releasing their first CD soon...

Has anyone out there heard the bass player of Conception's Black/death
metal band Crest of Darkness? CDEurope has it but I want to hear some
    reviews first.

Man, look how far I have drifted from DT...oh well too funking bad.

"Unthinkable Deed" is their Previous album, I haven't heard it yet, but I
ordered it lastweek. From what I have heard is if you like Can't break Me then
you like "Unthinkable Deed". Also there should be a new one from ED
    out shortly...

MTV played "Estranged" today. I was happy!

I hope they follow the string of cool bands that put out albums!

And I hope it doesn't suck!
