Quoth 2583... Excellent post on history of the band!
Reply...Thanks! Being an annually challenged Y'Jammer, I grew up with
bands like ELP, Yes, Pink Floyd, etc., so I know A LOT about these bands. I
also have an interest in progressive/metal trivia, like (ILBT's) Joe Walsh
did a [slide-guitar] guest appearance on one of the songs on the Carl
Palmer side of ELP's Works pt.1!

Hrmm. He was nice enough to drive some of us po' Jammers to the
97 shows. Grad school can be a dangerous thing. I know he should have
got his MA this May.

hrmm... This is what not paying attention does to you... warps
the brain cells. I remember subscribing to the list at the same time
that Screaming in Digital was a part of njin.net because someone had
posted the list address to SiD. So that was.... a while ago. I know I
subbed after Awake, so that was at least 1994, well after most of you old
crotchety farts (heh). I think it was late 94, because I had just
seen Lie on eMpTyV, late night, and DT had played Minneapolis, and I
missed it. SiD was just dying out at that time so I was looking for a
new list to frequent. I did lose some time in there before and during
the ACoS release, because I remember Dr. Teeth (also at Mankato then)
told me all about ACoS, and I either started reading jams, or resubbed.
Anyway. enough NDTC. All this tells you, is grad school makes everything
blend all together, and your memory turns to jello. (Not lime jello with
carrots, either)

<sigh> It wasn't even really a _joke_, per se. It was just a lighthearted
comment on my opinion of rap. I've tried to be openminded about it, gave
it several years of very frequent listening, and have decided that it's
pretty much worthless. Even if people disagree with me, I don't see why
everyone flamed me. Even in my replies to messages where I was cursed and
called a hypocrite I remained cordial and explained my point of view in
what I believe to be a very clear manner. I couldn't care less about
people disagreeing with me - in fact I enjoy a mature debate, but the
people who whined, bitched, and carried on about my OPINION (and I made it
VERY clear it was just my opinion) apparently aren't mature enough to know
how to agree to disagree. I've gotten a mailbox full of private emails
from people sending their apologies for the behavior of some of the other
members on the list. Many of these people completely disagree with my
point of view on rap, but all were mature enough to realize that the people
flaming me needed to grow up and respect others opinions. I have no
problem with people that like rap. I thought I made that pretty clear.
Apparently, in the case of some people on this list, I need to use
monosyllabic words for them to understand. I'm not apologizing for what I
wrote, but I am sorry I wrote it. I had assumed we had a more intelligent
group of people on here. (This only applies to some, NOT (N - O - T) all).
Any further flames or comments please direct to PRIVATE email. My
paragraph has turned into a truly sorry display of flaming. Take care...

Exactly my point! I have no clue who your father is, but I heard it
through the grapevine that you were a bastard. I've now confirmed it by
finding out you snaked my FAVORITE lighter. Do you realize this damned

Sorry to post this to the Jam but I got in a mini-feud with a ND guy about how much ND sucks and I think this speaks volumes about the North Dakota mentality. This reminds me of when they used to burn "witches" at the stake in the 1600's.
This is only a small piece of the article. If anyone would like a complete copy of the article please email me and I'll send it over.

Which brings to mind the 70 year old dude I saw driving around town today in a low-ridin Trans Am thumpin some Sir Mixalot. I applaud his grapsing for his youth. Although when he stepped out of the car I didn't know whether his baggy pants were just being fashionable or his Depends Undergarments[tm] were full. :)
> And you know what will piss off you No Doubt bashers the most? I
Honestly I can't see the purpose of bashing no doubt when there are alot more worthless bands out there to bash. <g> I never have decidedly listened to them, but one day my radio woke me up and while I was making the bed (yes, I actually do that!) that song came on. I grooved to it for awhile until I realized I was enjoying something on the radio, which is breaking one of the 10 Ytse-commandments...
1. No enjoying songs on the radio without written permission from a petition of 500 ytsejammers... 2. No top ten lists... *snip*
Anyway, after the song was over, the guy announced the song as Don't Speak (No Doubt) and I must say I was impressed. A couple more of those and I might buy an album. :)

Sorry, Bucky, Jon's right. Mixing all colrs creates white. Black is the absence of all color. Things only reflect the color of light that they are composed of. White is composed of all and reflects all colors back at you. Black reflects none and remains black. That's why darkness is black. No light. :) But when I mix all my crayolas together it seems to get darker... I think I saw that posted before... :) All colors reflect white, all colors blend black, I think...

Didn't this guy lose his pinky and play with only 3 fingers? He rocks if he does. I love BtP.
<Inigo> I see you have six fingers on your left hand. I have been looking for you. <John Petrucci> Why yes I DO have six fingers. How do you think I play so fast? <Inigo> My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die...

Hey, can someone send me the first ytsejam digest or the closest to the first. I'm really curious how things have or haven't changed.
Albums this and next month I am dying for (if only I had money): Paradise Lost- One Minute (August- okay, so its 2 months). Flotsam And Jetsam- High (June 3 and I can't fucking wait any longer), Seven Mary Three- Rock Crown (so, there not metal!!!), Bruce's Accident Of Birth, Testament's Demonic, and if I have a lot of extra money I can't seem to spend, I might buy the new Crue one. No offense Crue fans but the new stuff I heard sounds awful.

Thank God no one's started columns :)
At 08:29 AM 5/23/97 -0700, so let it be written: >obviously there are a lot of DT fans who are metal fans and got into DT >because of the heavier side of their music, and very few people who >listened mostly to country and got into DT.
Wow, maybe that's cause DT's a metal band, huh? ;p
>Never mind the fact that No Doubt are actually PROGRESSIVE (they >use keyboards! :) ). They may not be "prog"
Okay, now define the difference between PROGRESSIVE and "prog" please.
>but their music certainly is >more complex I would say than anything that's been this popular in recent >years
That's like saying piss tastes better than shit. (think about it)
>They're just not >metal, so they automatically suck and have no talent in some people's >minds.
Um... okay ;)~
"If it's not metal, it's CRAAAAP!!!" I think some ytsejammer wrote this :)
>And you know what will piss off you No Doubt bashers the most? I didn't >even know who they were other than the fact they were one of these bands >all the 14 year olds listen to (so I assumed they sucked) and hadn't heard >any of their music until you did start bashing them.
And this is gonna make the metal fans on the list angry? We really don't care what another person listens to. I mean, I've got friends that I can go to a Megadeth concert with (SEE YA ALL AT MESA AMPHITHEATER JUNE 13TH!!! HAHAHAH!!!), and yet also go to see Michael W. Smith with too, if I wanted to. So what? A girl I used to date hated metal, she liked singers like Brandy. It didn't make me angry one bit. Not my fault some people have bad taste :)
>And then I found out one of my friends had >their CD so I borrowed it along with one of his techno CD's (pretty good >too) and let the guy borrow two of my Satch CD's in exchange.
Not even CLOSE to a fair trade :)
>But it is curious that all >the bands/groups people here hate most (Alanis, No Doubt, Spice Girls, >etc.) all have female singers... <shrug> It was just an observation.
Eh, hem. Um, not ALL the bands I hate or dislike are fronted by women. Let's see, should I make a list? What about bands like Nirvana, Bush, 311, Ratt, Stryper, Poison ("Unskinny bop bop bop bop blows me away, yeah" ;), Nine Inch Nails, Hole (yeah, but if you actually consider Courtney a woman...), Soundgarden, Collective Soul, The Toadies, Live, the Lollapalooza bunch (Psychotica, Rancid, Ramones, Korn, Screaming Trees, etc.) Face it people, if you've got a defined view of what you like, then there's a lot of music out there that you don't like. Who cares if the singer has a dick or not?! Really. Music is music. Crap is crap. Plain and simple.
> I saw them in concert when Gwen's voice was rested for like a > month or two, and I was very impressed by them....but that's > just my HO.
Just your "HO", huh? ;)~ heheh, "Ain't my Bitch!!"
