Hey, Jammers! :)
Well, I saw the Houston Rush show last night. Awesome show! 10th row all
the way on the right! I swear, Geddy looked *right at me* at least 5
times! But it wasn't hard to spot me. I was the only 5'6" chick with
her arms up jumping above the 6'+ guys surrounding me! ;)
Anyway, what does this have to with the 'jam, you ask? Well, I've
noticed a little discussion about Mike Bahr's latest CD compillation and
how he says that his (live) version of 2112 is 21 min. 12 sec. Well,
when they played 2112 last night, I timed the performance. It wasn't
exact (I was too busy jumping and lost maybe 15 seconds at the very
beginning ;) but it came out to around 21:12! Yes, the album version is
shorter, but I think I figured it out. Alex added about a minute to his
guitar solo toward the beginning of "III. Discovery."
Anyhow, "I thought that you should know." :)

Well I recently picked up FW's latest, and after the first listen I found
myself agreeing with just about everything chris said earlier. Especially
the stuff about it being a death march and how Alder can't sing and the
alarm clock waking you up and stuff.
Upon further review, however, I've decided that while it probably isn't as
good as the lightbulb, it is quite possibly better than sliced bread. I
still think Ray needs to learn that when singing a line, it is prudent to
hold the last note of the line and not one in the middle. i hate that.
That boy can sing, but he doesn't have a very good sense of melody IMHO.
in other news, if anyone has any of the following CD's in good condition I
will happily buy them:
Superior behind
Enchant anything
altura mercy
shadow gallery s/t

Hiya folks!
As many of you have noticed, I've gone into perma-lurk mode
lately.
Unfortunately, I'm far too busy to regularly contribute to
this list and seldom have time to read it. While the list has gone
through its ups and downs as far as volatility is concerned, it
remains a relatively open-minded place to discuss a wide range of
topics and should be cherished as such. Keep that alive!!
I have enjoyed most of the time I've spent here, and have made
a few good friends from contacts originating on this list. I wish all
of you well.
If time should permit me to be a valid contributor in future,
I will resubscribe. Should you have any info regarding the new
record to pass on to me, or if you would like to shoot the breeze with
Sue or myself, feel free to e-mail us at rsterry@idirect.com if you
can't locate one of us on #ytsejam. 8-)
Lastly, my thanks to Skadz for braving the drudgery that
enables a list of this nature to keep on keeping on and for his
efforts to keep things civil. Controlling the data and personality
variables here and on the IRC channel is a task far more difficult
than most of us can imagine. Bravo!!
Well, that's all for now.
Take care.
Cheers,
Rick

Hi Jammers...long time no post.
Anyway, was just wondering if any of you had heard of Auditory Imagery,
based out of Avon, MA???? They rock!!!!!!!! They're a progressive rock
band in the vein of older QR. The only CD I have and know of is an Indie
release called So Alive. They're excellent and worth checking out. Would
be such a shame if these guys didn't get signed. If anyone is interested,
you can reach them at
Auditory Imagery

If anyone has heard of them, or plans on checking them out, let me know
what you think. Any info on these guys would be great. Later...

Hi all,
I was just going to buy some CDs from a guy on the net and I wanted to
know if any of you know anything about the following bands and/or CDs:
Factory of Art - Grasp (described as prog-metal)
Murdock - Cry Inside (described as power metal)
Any comments for be very useful.
Also I listened to a new CD by a band called Hammerfall. The CD is
called "Glory to the Brave". I would compare the music to
Stratovarius and the lyrics to ManOwaR. So it is a must for all you
brothers and sisters of true metal! It comes out this week in Germany
as does the new Gamma Ray single "Valley of the Kings". I urge you to
try and find both of these, they kick ass!
Take care everyone. Adios,
Jason

Wasn't James' highest note that ballburster in "Lifting Shadows..."? I'm sure you all know which note I mean. The "Wow! No way a guy did that?" note. ;)~

the 'categories of DT fans' were best described by D-man a loooooooooooooooooooong friggin' time ago. Remember what you wrote D?

The highest he usually sings is a high E ( I know because my falsetto doesn't go higher than E, and I can sing those parts (ok, melodically speak them :) ) when I'm listening to those songs. However, as noted b4, he did hit that high G on TKH. I've noticed that's the usual case among singers. Even if they can, they rarely ever go above E; i guess they're already straining at that point... and most metal songs are in the key of E :)

Hey gang;
While driving to my friends house the other night I heard a song on the radio that I loved, it was by a local band called Wide Awake and the song was off the album called Horns and Halos. Has anyone ever heard of this band? They were very progressive with great Keyboard and guitar solos. I want to hear more but I want to see if the rest is worth spending the money on since I will most likely never hear the song on the radio again. Thanks.

According to the Rush FAQ, the way the band came up with the title was by the song's length on vinyl -- 21 minutes and 12 seconds long.

No, that can't be it. My vocal skills have been improving since I started singing DTs stuff in the car, and I can hit every note in LSoaD. According to my trusty DT tab books (which aren't always accurate, but wTF?) I noticed the highest note he hits is in Under a Glass Moon which is a nadz-shattering high E. That's not being sustained. Not to say he can't sing higher. I've heard him hit some high shit on some of the bootlegs I've got. When I try to hit those high E's, I swear I feel one of my lungs snag on a rib. It's gotta be some dangerous shit...
Anyway, I may have missed one, but that's what I saw. :) Later!

Wow. This is awesome. Most albums contain a few "album-fillers", but not this one. Every single song on this CD kicks arse in its own unique way. Bruce's voice is on top form, Adrian Smith's guitar work is wonderful, and the songs themselves are so damn good that even Iron Maiden in their heyday couldn't have done better.
This CD should be compulsory.
