Hmmmm... you should have asked her in how far she thought it would
resemble... hmmmm (again)... maybe Styx is the only prog (let's be not too
strict w/defining terms here) band she ever consciously listened to?
<scratching my head> Frankly speaking this comparison just isn't that
obvious to me... at least not in the sense that I thought of WDADU as the
best Rush album ever made... just kidding (in case that Neil Peart should
ever come to read this digest :-) I only once had The Illusion on vinyl of
which I thought despite a few lackluster moments it did contain some
excellent material, and it was excellently performed and produced as
well... maybe she thought of the arrangement, esp. the keyboards -? But
then I wouldn't expect her to find *any* similarity between Styx and say
    Awake...

    Somewhat clueless,

Sorry 'bout that. I read it wrong. Now I get your point, although I don't
really think either album is disjointed. I think the songs are well
written on both Awake and FII.

    >>Personally, I don't think I've

    >Awake. GO fig.

Yeah, I was exagerrating, but trying to make a point that DT songs would
probably be a bit harder to produce, because they incorporate elements that
other bands don't use. The extra strings and different keyboard sounds are
the best examples. I think the biggest difference between Awake and FII
for me is the drums. I guess I'm disappointed with the production on FII
because I don't think the drums sound that good. I even like the drums
better on I&W, even with the triggers. It might not even be Shirley's
fault, but being the producer, he's responsible. I prefer Awake's
production based almost entirely on how good the drums sound on that album.
Anyone else see it that way?

I still haven't gotten my tickets from Ticketbastard yet. They told me to
show up at the box office tomorrow night and that I would be able to get them
at the door. I don't trust them at all.

My problem is that I wasn't planning on getting there until 9pm. Has anyone
had any experience with this at Irving Plaza? Will I get shut out if we show
up at 9pm? Any help would be appreciated.

Actually, I answered this in private email, but since other people seem to
care as well, it's probably worth posting. I personally joined the fan
club after hearing about last year's CD, but it was about February before
I got around to it. And I still got the CD. So I think you probably
    still have plenty of time.

    >37659.76234)... :-)

I'm curious as to why you didn't write "DSM -IV", I'm doing my undergrad
work in psych at the moment (what's with all these bass playing pysch
majors! It almost makes me believe in societal memory and predeidposition)
and a lot of my profs seem to be bashing the DSM IV as a diagnostic tool in
favor of the DSM _III-R. I was curios about your take on that, what with
having more exposure to both than I have had.

Hmmm, Would prog phobia be Axis I or Axis II as in anti-prog personality
disorder since most people who suffer from the condition never seek
treatment for a problem that they are unaware that they are suffering from?

    >nd got into fusion which in the 70s still was called jazzrock
hmm, don't remembner the 70's, I only spent 3 years in them, so much for
    societal memory.

I'm curious as to why everyone calls Marrillion prog? Granted, I have
EXTREMELY limited experience with them is 6 of one, half dozen of the
other. I'm not impressed with it at all. It seems like fairly commericial
pop to me. Of course, this may be because it's a "greatest hits" album and
they simply put their most commercial tracks on, but the only song I can
dig is "Kaleigh" I thik I spelled that wrong, but I'm too lazy to look it
up now. "Incommunicado" and "The Assasin" just make my skin crawl away
from my ears, trying to rip out my tympanic membrane with it!

    Yes!
As I wrote, it is POSSIBLE to estimate evetything objectively.
I know it's VERY difficult but possible.
I see you don't understand me (I guess on the ground you wrote below)
Perhaps you don't uderstand what word "objective" means

    > same way.

    That's right.

    > your eyes at me as you hold back the vomit!) Hitler tried to

He thought (if he did really) he was doing in objective way.
    But he was mistaken.
That won't do if someone invent some idea. If it wants to be righteous
    it must be objective.

    > You are extremely narrow minded if you think that your
    > own opinions are objective,

Of course not. I will have to learn more and more to become
a 100% objectivist. Maybe I will never become one, but I try
to live this way, to improve my mind, myself.
But you must be aware of this, that (like Platon's triangles)
there are some patterns we are aspiring to.

You are wrong (using your words - like Hitler)
Perhaps I am wrong too but there is a an objective standard
which (telling the truth) is difficult to define or to discover.

I picked up SF several years ago as a Cassingle B side to "Anybody

note (and it may have been mentioned here already) that I've seen the entire

    Hey guys,
There's a used live Marillion video at a local music store around here.
It's like $10 or so. If anyone here wants, I can pick it up and mail it to
ya for whatever it actually costs me plus shipping. I can't remember much
about it, other than it's a live video I think in Europe. I figgered
SOMEONE on here would want it :)

..and I think Mike Bahr would agree :)

Peace and love, and good happiness stuff, ~Vince
