And ONE more time for good measure, since you all continue to post
everytime you pick up the fuckin' phone to ask Ticketbastard about tour
    dates....

Look, if you haven't done it already, compile an email list of jammers
that are within your area. That's how we have communicated in the past
here in Phoenix, the most successful one being (I think) the Fates Warning
    show.
That way you're not increasing the flood of ytsemail that's already
smashing my email box (I've gotten 3 warnings from my ASU account
telling me that I'm running out of space, just this past month), and
other ppl's email accounts as well. What's even GREATER about this is
that you can organize meetings for whatever comes along, and get to know
    your local ytsejammers better.

If you don't know who lives near you, check out the rsabbs site for the
fanclub network, or go to Itchy's page, it ain't too difficult.

Why should it ? It was a special 'gift' to fan club members. Obviously you
    haven't got the
fan club CD, stop bitching about it, okay ? The Cd was sent out to all
    members of the DTIFC
last December, MP mentioned in the last fanzine that there could be another
     FC CD this year too.
AFAIK the band paid for the CD themselves, Elektra had nothing to do with
    it.
I seriously doubt if Elektra would allow the band to sell a CD to jammers,
    they'd have to have
a slice of the pie somewhere down the line.
Simple solution is to join the FC and you never know what you might get.?
You don't know what your talking about either, the fan club offers a
    quarterly fanzine, not
a monthly or bi-monthly newsletter. The fanzine is a great read and more
    often than not has
a lot of stuff that isn't posted to the jam, sure the thing could have some
     more colour though.

www.ticketmaster.com is showing the following dates for Dream Theater:

1: DREAM THEATER: 01-NOV-97, CHICAGO, IL.
2: DREAM THEATER: 12-NOV-97, HOLLYWOOD, CA.
3: DREAM THEATER: 25-OCT-97, NEW HAVEN, CT.
4: DREAM THEATER: 27-OCT-97, CLEVELAND, OH.
5: DREAM THEATER: 28-OCT-97, COLUMBUS, OH.

There is no mention online of who an opening act will be. There is also a
mention Dream Theater as the opener on this bill:

            Ritual Presents Saint Andrews Hall
Dream Theater Primary Act: Howie B
            All Ages Welcome City: Detroit
            St. Andrews Hall State: MI
            431 E Congress Detroit Event Date: 30-Oct-97
            Thu Oct 30 97 Drs 7pm Price: $16.00

So, those are six dates we know should be pretty solid. Also, they jive
with the dates listed on www.cnotes.com/cnotes.artists/dream.html

I hope the November 10 date is accurate as I'd love to see them here in
    Portland, OR!

This might seem like a senseless rambling...so if it is, just ignore it.

With all the discussion about the list's lack of thanks on FII, I remember
(and share) a quote from Scott O'Grady:

It wasn't the reward that mattered or the recognition
you might harvest. It was your depth of commitment,
your quality of service, the product of your devotion--
these were the things that counted in life. When you
gave purely, the honor came in the giving, and that
       was honor enough.

As an analogy: When a group lobbies Congress to pass a bill, and it works,
Newtie doesn't call up the head of the organization and thank him personally
for all his hard work and effort in wasting yet more of the taxpayer's
money. Hell, the group probably had to pay a fair amount (one way or
another) to get their way. If all we had to pay Elektra was a bunch of
signatures, we got off pretty much scot-free. At least we didn't all have
to send 'em $100 to pay for the studio time.

Personally, I thank my lucky stars that DT still exists...but that doesn't
mean that I expect to be patted on the head by Elektra (or the band, for
that matter) and told what a good, loyal fan I am.

While I didn't get that upset (maybe I should say "sad") with the

Unacceptable is a pretty strong word. Sure, I was upset that I didn't see the word "Ytsejam" in there. But then I realized that I was listening to FII. They thanked the fans by releasing the best album they could. And for that, I'm grateful. Besides, we know who we are, and they know who we are.

And just imagine if HY or YNM takes off, and everyone buys FII, complete with mailing list info. Every jam would be half-full of "I'm in 8th grade in <your backwater state here> and I love you guys! James, you have beautiful hair! How do I get on your mailing list?"

While I'm thinking of it, why *does* FII have the British DTIFC address, but not the NYC address? Hmm...

    > Yeah, Mike's the shit. As far as the fan club CD goes, it should have been > available to us for like $5.

I have to disagree. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who are as hardcore about being DT fans as we are, but they just can't afford a computer. Do they deserve to pay more for the fan club than we do?

Besides, the fan club is worth it. Neil has done a kick-ass job.

    > D-man, none of this is directed at you. You just happened to pave the way > for some strong points that have been bothering me since FII came out, or > longer.

That was sufficiently clear, but thanks for reiterating it.

Now, perhaps this is why James LaBrie told me that "I don't understand your language" when I said that I am a member of the Ytsejam mailing list. Perhaps he doesn't like computers :-) Of course, I was expressing myself in English (and Myung and Petrucci were muuuuuuuuuch cooler than I have ever thought they could be).

BTW, I'd really love to have a copy of the Birch Hill show (or other shows at the same place or whatever). Anyone wanna trade??

No. When Jim Pitulski, their previous manager, parted ways with them about two years ago, he took Round Table Entertainment with him. There were some legal battles going on about it -- I'm not sure if they've been completely resolved yet. Rob Shore took over as their manager when Jim left; I don't know if he still is.

None of my friends like DT, so if anybody wants to hook up for the Dallas, Austin, and/or Houston shows, e-mail me and we'll work out some kind of caravan deal or something.
