    >Which Strat album is better: Visions or Episode?

IMHO Vision is far better than Episode and it's Stratovarius' best album: it
contains a lot af good music (my favourites sonngs are "Kiss of Judas",
"Legions of the Twilight", "Abyss of Your Eyes" and "Paradise").

No, Queensryche was not the first.

Pink Floyd did it in 1973 when touring for DSOTM.
Rush did it in 1978 and 1984 touring for Hemispheres and p/g.
Floyd did it again in 1979 touring for The Wall.

And I'm sure other bands like the Stones and the Beatles did it
too, long before this, but those weren't concept albums so who can really
say. Of the 1970s concept albums, other bands like Alan Parsons Project,
Kansas, and Genesis probably did a little full-album live performing, one
    would guess.

    Hi there!

Yesterday I heard two new DT songs on the radio: "Burning My Soul" and
"Hollow Years". As I only heard it once I don't have any formed opinion
about it, but my first impressions were good.
"Burning my soul" is a little heavy, starts with some simple bass line.
The drums are very good but a little more simple than another DT songs. The
music is in 4/4 all the time (if there is any change, I STILL didn't
realize) with some DT characteristic odd compass finishing (hope you can
understand what I mean). The vocals are good.
"Hollow Years" is a ballad that starts with a kind of Spanish guitar solo.
The vocals are very good, with cool backing. That's it. Maybe I will post
some more impressions after I hear it some more times (I recorded it).
In general the songs are very good, and, although being a little more
"commercial" (I don't know if this is applicable), specially "Hollow
Years", I still think there is a lot of DT in it. Hope you, that have
    already listened, agree with me.

    See ya'.

Going back even earlier than Operation: Mindcrime (which several of my friends we lucky enough to see), Pink Floyd used to perform entire albums at their shows. In the 70s they would often perform the latest album in its entirety and in order, followed by the previous album in its entirety and in order, and have an encore of older stuff (for 3 hour long shows). They did this for "dark side of the moon", "wish you were here", "animals", and "the wall" (making for some awesome boots) Also.. the Who performed "Tommy" in order as well. Back to Pink Floyd, even on their 1994 tour they performd Dark Side of the Moon in order for their second set. Also, in the 80s, Marillion played albums such as "Misplaced Childhood" in order.

In other words, this is not a new concept =) I tend to like when bands to that, since often the albums are designed to be heard in order, so why not perform them the way they were intended to be heard (albums which are not just a collection of 3 minute pop-singles that is :) )

In my original massage (yet another 'Jam 'inside joke'...), I think I may have conveyed a tone of anti-skaness. For this I apologize. Like I mentioned, I was actually *in* a ska band as a trumpeter up until a few weeks ago, when we all departed for assorted schools. 'Course, just because I was in a ska band doesn't mean I own any ska albums, but, then, just because I don't have a ska record collection doesn't mean I dislike the music... My fingers are hurting from repeated pressings of the "S", "K", and "A" keys, so I will discontinue the post.

This 80's weekend thing is pretty damn cool...never heard "18 and life" or "Youth Gone Wild" on the radio before, or Anthrax's "Got the Time" and "Among the Living."

And, always the Tull-head, I must point out "Thick as a Brick" and "A Passion Play", both 40-some-odd-minutes were played in their entirety. Plus, "2112", and all manner of other songs (2112 by Tull - that'd be a trip...). Esentially, as soon as prog came out in the late, late '60s, along came with it the rock epics performed in full. And, if you step out of the rock genre, there's always classical music to contend with. Those Tibettan monks write some long-ass songs as well... Gog-Bar-Og's Stoneage Quartet featuring special guest Grunk-Big-Teeth on mastadon-skull -- I hear they played for fourteen weeks straight before they were killed by a rockslide.

    I don't know...

Please, can someone (who are involved with the job of bootleggin) tell me the following:

    - Which softwares you use to copy audio CDs?? - Do they copy the songs digitally or must the songs pass thru the soundboard?? - If they copy the songs digitally, do they copy the extra information that a CD holds, such as start of a song and table of contents etc?

I want to copy some live bootlegs and I really don't want to have pauses between the songs, you know. Maybe Mike Bahr can help here...

Thank you for any help, Roger...
