    Yo Jam!

I just talked with 94.1 WYSP, the supposed 'ROCK' station in
Philadelphia and they would play the New Dream Theater, but they don't
have the fucking CD, they have a tape.

So I'm going to try to email Elektra and say hey....there are radio
stations willing to play the new DT, but you guys aren't even sending
promotions out (well I'll just ask them to send a CD to the station).

    So we'll see what happens.

I need to ask a favor of all you jammers,

    But First, the background information,

    THE STORY:
Friday night, I call my local radio station (WCCC) and request the new
DT. The DJ tells me that they are going to play "Burning my Soul" on
Tuesday night during the new music radio show.
Tuesday Nigth. Dream Theater Fan (That would be ME) foregoes all plans
for the evening, and set up Tape Deck to record new Dream Theater
Single. Waits for 1 and 3/4 hours of 2 hour show - and then calls DJ.
She says that the manager forgot to give her the NEW CD for the new
music show, and that she could not play it.
I ask (politiely) "could you play it tomorrow?" She says, they dont
allow new music in the studio until it has been played on the new music
show, and has gotten some feedback. This is the only radio station in
the area that has the BALLS to play DT type music. She says she will
    debut the music tommorrow.

    THE FAVOR:
Could each of you drop a quick note to fmamwccc@aol.com, and POLITELY
tell the station manager that you are a Dream THeater Fan and would like
to hear the new single "Burning My Soul" on the air as soon as possible.

It would be greatly appreciated!!!! This makes for a good test as to the
power of the YTSEJAM. They will probably realize that this is an
orchestrated effort, but it will get DT noticed and maybe even played.

Lets see what we can do to get them played - if this works, maybe we can
pick a radio station per day, and E-mail them. The manager has to take
notice when his mailbox is full of mails saying "We love DT"

Also, could you please drop me a note letting me know that you had sent
the E-mail - send it to me at mpomerle@ct1.nai.net

Lets see if we cant get some momentum going!!!!!

    Regards,

    Michael Pomerleau

Lets not only beg and grovel to get Dream Theater played on some Radio Stations, but lets also start thanking lthe radio Stations that are playing Dream Theater.

Those of you who have heard Dream Theater on your local radio station, could please post the E-mail Address to the YTSEJAM of the radio station.

Then, perhaps all the JAMMERS could send a SHORT note the the radio station, something like this;(Be original, so that we all dont look the same)

"I heard the New Dream Theater Single 'Burning My Soul' on the Radio Last Night!!! - GREAT SONG!!!! Could you please play it again and put it in regular rotation!"

Lets see if a litttle POSITIVE re-inforcement can do some good.

If anyone else has other good ideas, please E-mail me. I will try to update my web Page by POSTING all these ideas.

Well, I just got back from my weekend trip to Phoenix. It was totally killer finally meeting Vince, Eckie, Uncle Dave, and Mike Bahr in person. All VERY cool people and a blast to hang with. The Megadeth show kicked my ASS. They had a ton of energy. Bum deal I had to miss David Ellefson doing a book signing by a few hours, and Bruce Dickinson at The Mason Jar by a few days. Oh well, life goes on :).

No, sorry... One of the first things I noticed or disliked about ACOS was the blasted high pitched snare. It's really off putting for me. I'm a guitarist, so there you go.

I agree. Thanking them and letting them know we heard it and appreciated would probably go a long way to getting it into rotation.

On a similar topic, has anyone else contact Rebel Radio here in Chicago about playing DT? The nice thing about them is they broadcast via RealAudio over the Internet and could be heard anywhere (from www.rebelradio.com). Anyway, I called up a couple nights ago and got a DJ that said he was pretty new and couldn't find any Dream Theater promo CD, but he did say he had a few requests for it and would play it if he found it. My guess is they didn't get one from the record company.

Is there someone I could contact at the record company to have them send out a copy to Rebel Radio?

    Hi Jammers--

    NDTC WARNING!!!!!

Has anybody noticed that Chaos Theory's website at http://www.li.net/~jdibart/chaos-theory/ is no more? I went there today and found it was down so I sent email to the singer, Jeff D -- with whom I've been exchanging emails -- and he told me:

    > Well, John, unfortunately the band and I have parted ways. > Without getting into the details, the band decided that > they were interested in moving in a heavier direction, > and they felt that my vocal style wasn't suitable for > what they were going for, so they told me this weekend > that they've replaced me. I really can't believe that ct would get rid of Jeff. IMHO, Jeff was what set the band apart from other prog metal bands out there. His vocals were really strong and again, IMHO, made the band. If any of the band members are reading this, please email me in private and tell me what posessed you to kick Jeff out.

Do any other Jammers agree with me that Jeff's dismissal was a bad move? If you do, maybe you should drop him an email at jdibart@li.net and tell him so -- although his email sounds like he's cool with things, he's probably pretty bummed.

    -John

Oh yeah, I don't know if Vince or Eckie (or anybody else, for that matter) mentioned this, but Eddie Webb was sort of, well, absent from the Megadeth show last Sunday. Seemed that most, if not all the other DJs from that station were there.

Yeah, well I was at David Ellefson's (Megadeth Bassist) book signing earlier today, and there was a comment passed about a certain DJ that blew the "secret gig" idea back in June. One woman there today yelled out something like "Eddie Webb fucked it up!!" or something to that effect. Megadeth wanted a little show for about 500 fans or so, I guess, and there wound up being over 2 or 3 thousand (my estimation) there for the show. This is pretty much Ellefson's comment to me about it: "It was supposed to be a Vic and the Rattleheads show, but it wound up being a Megadeth show. Some DJ slipped and mentioned it on the air."

Something tells me Webb's days at KUPD are numbered.

Maybe it's just me, but this song sounds like it's off of "Space in Your Face" by the Galactic Cowboys...um...but...like...heavier and better and stuff. Just the bootleg and the .ra versions of this song rip my face off. The heavy guitars come thundering in the way 'tallica USED to do it. DT seems to be moving more towards the heavy than the prog. I can't wait for Sep 23!!!

Well, after talking to one of the DJs there, he said that they have the new DT single, but that they won't play it. He said if I want to hear it on 98, I need to contact Atco records. Payola sucks. I asked in my local HMV a week or two ago. The only thing they had on file was WDADU! I think they must have typed "Theatre" instead of "Theater", so I'll go back today and make sure they get the spelling right.
