While I don't think I'd buy a 311 album (based on listeneing to their
self-titled one) I do like the songs that have been on the radion.
Especially the new single, "transistor." It starts out heavy and then goes
into this Hawaian type music shit. Pretty cool. I compared it to "the
spirit of radio" first time I heard it.

Oh man, something hilarious happened tonight at dinner.

For some strange reason, the dining hall here at Drew decided to have a
DJ play (for one day) some tunes for the students while they had their
dinner. Well, most of what was being played was garbage. Anyways, me and
my friend are pretty much done our dinner, just talking when the DJ
decided to play "mmmbop" by Hanson. I swear, everyone in the dining hall
    just got up and left.

    Hi Fellow Jammers,
I visited the hardradio webpage, to try and listen to
DT's new songs Burining my soul, and Peruvian Skies, but my Real player
kept producing an error message of " FILE NOT FOUND USING HTTP ". I
visited the error page at real audio, but this did not help me. Has
anybody else had this problem, or is it just me because I am behind a fire
    wall?

Could somebody tell me how to fix this problem, or could somebody E-Mail
    me these songs.

    Thanks,
           Jason (an Australian Jammer)

    Hi there

Are any of you keyboard studs out there authorities on older analog
equipment? I've got a few of them and I have great fun making crazy
sounds with them, but I'm just not sure what some of the knobs do.

    Here's what I've got:
            Moog Opus III
Moog Taurus Pedal (the original one, not the sequel)
            Roland Juno 60
            Yamaha CS15

Of these, the Yamaha is definetly the most cryptic, but I feel certain
that all of them have capabilities that I don't know how to use.

I'd really appreciate your assistance - go ahead and respond privately.

    Thanks

I'm posting this on my web page as well. For some reason Goodnet decided
to nuke all my mail yesterday. This includes about 10 to 15 mails I had
received but not yet managed a reply to, and an additional (estimated) 10
that I never even _saw_ before the mail deletion and my next logon. So if
you have mailed me about anything, and never heard back, this would be a
good time to re-mail me. I apologize for the inconvenience.

You know, I was driving along in my car the other day doing some
thinking (my car has no stereo) and I was remembering a thread a while
back wherein people were discussing their desire for DT to re-record the
old Majesty demos. Ideas were batted back and forth, and the consensus
seemed to be that it was a great idea, but that would never happen.
Then I had this thought: what if we had some kind of Ytse-poll to pick
our favorite song from the demos, then maybe DT would consider indulging
us by working the song up and using it as a possible encore during their
upcoming world tour. I realize that at a lot of shows, the band's time
is limited, and they really just want to play their new material and
highlights from the older albums, but wouldn't it be a treat for the
hardcore fans to hear one of those songs live? Perhaps even a medley of
their favorite parts from a couple of the songs. I don't even have a
copy of the demos anymore, and I'm sure a lot of the people on the jam
have never heard them, but maybe someone could put some samples on a web
page, hell, maybe someone already has.

Does that sound like a good idea to anyone else?

    take it easy

It's a coincidence. I think that Peruvian was written before Load came out
anyway. It was one of the first songs on the new tune list. The riff is
slightly different, and the chorus and progressive of PS is 10x that of
Bleeding Me. Also the keyboards bring the song to a dimension that Bleeding
    Me can't reach.

Both of these guys can play. Add Mike Welch to the list of young blues
phenoms, he's 18 and was playing at the House of Blues in Boston when he
was 13 with Dan Akyroyd and the Blues Brothers. But still, none of these
guys would get press if it weren't for their age. Blues phenoms are a dime
a dozen, is it a coincidence? I doubt it.

    You go, boy! *snap* *snap*

Well, I already said this once, but im gonna say it again in a not-so-eloquent-way. You feel the same way as our pal Eckie (which i do too)? then quit yer bitchin' and set the example. Yes, DT is a lot more creative than most of the crap out there, but what about the composers? Remember Beethoven? Bach? Mozart? Well, there are guys like that today too. And there not even close to reaching the success that DT has. Ever heard of Steve Reich? Glenn Branca? Phillip Glass? and those are the few that are at least relatively well known. There're a lot more.

The music industry *is* a horrible thing... but right now we have the power to change that, and it's right in front of us: THE INTERNET. Notice how much we've already done for our beloved DT already? Not once, but TWICE??? And that's only about 1000 ppl (and imagine alot less when the ACOS thing was organized) Now imagine all the ppl of the net who feel this way coming together... realize what we can do? It *is* possible. And let's not just do it for DT, but for all those excellent musicians out there struggling to make a buck. Maybe I'm being idealistic, but I'm the type of person who likes to do something about it, rather than whine and bitch.

    anybody agree? Ernie

Put yourself in the bands shoes for a moment, and see if it's a good idea. Although a medley would be something to consider, i see it all as something very improbable (improggable, huh-huh). I would only wnat to see DT perform these songs, if they really wanted to, and were really into it.

you gotta be kidding me....has the brit pop scene become that much of an influence that mike and tony couldn't find any good english drummers? i can't believe they had to IMPORT their drummer. i mean, it's one thing if it's from the us, but (not to diss the israeli jammer contingent), but you'd have to admit, that israel wouldn't be one of the likely places i'd find to fill a seat that's had phil collins, bill bruford and chester thompson in it.

sheesh, i miss chester.......... i guess he and daryl steurmer (sp.?) ran off with phil, eh?

    this should be interesting.

"Knowledge Is Power." "Time Is Money." from basic Physics, Power is Work divided by Time, or: K = P, T = M, P = W/T.

    substituting and rearranging:

Knowledge = Work / Money. -- the more you know, the more work you do. -- the more you know, the less money you make.

M = W / K. -- money approaches infinity as knowledge approaches zero, regardless of work done--so the more you make, the less you know, and...

W = M x K. -- Work approaches zero as Knowledge approaches zero-- so, the stupid rich do little or no work.

Hardly solid mathematics, but still true. At least in the recording indu$try.
