I saw FW in LA at the Whiskey about two weeks ago. I thought since it
was thier last show
of the tour they would play extra long or something, but the damn
Whiskey gave them
exactly 1:15 to play, so we got the standard APSoG + 5 old songs set. It
was still a great
performance, though. The sound was good, too. No earplugs needed.
(except for the opening bands)
I didn't meet them that night, but then I ran into Ray, Joey and Mark at
the Marillion show
at the House of Blues a couple days later. Ray said they had some more
songs to play
but ran out of time. I can't beleive the Whiskey had two bands play
AFTER FW. Who knows
who they were, everyone left after Fates anyway. Plus it was $3 for a
Coke and $2 for
water! I hate that place.
Also on my vacation, I got to see Enchant open for Marillion and Spocks
Beard open for
Fish. What a great week!

These guys are great and I have a seventh row seat. I just dont know if it is really seventh row or seventh row, east Jesus section. Regardless, this place is small so the seat cant suck. If you have never heard of them, show up for the first few songs. If you hate them, leave. That's the beauty of FREE.
Fine Print. If the concert gets cancelled, I get the ticket back :) And, I may ask for the recipient to pick me up a t-shirt (on *my* account, of course).

That's a pretty lame statement. I could care less where a musician comes from. If he/she is good and can play, that's all that matters. This drummer must be good if they picked him to play in the legendary band Genesis. Sometimes people need to think before they post...

I've seen all the talk here about the Spice Girls but had never heard nor seen them and always wondered what they sounded like. Well last night between innings of the O's fifth victory over the Yankees, I was switching between channels and went to MTV for their video awards show. Well once time the Spice Girls played live. I seriously got ill and had to change the channel-ugh!
Regarding Hanson, I've only heard one of their songs and thats the one about love or something and is a video. I just think it is pretty amazing how in that song those young punks can put out music like that. I think the way they switch vocal parts is pretty wild. It amazes me that their voices sound like that at their ages. Have they ever played live? Milli Vanilli part 2?
That's interesting that I am not the only one who thinks PS sounds like a Metallica song. Is it really surprising? Metallica is an influence.

Is there a definitive place where you should find a drummer? Your point (if there was one) sort of escaped me. Last time I searched the Web, I didn't find it mandatory for a band to have a drummer from the US or UK.
I was watching a band play some years ago, all swedish/german/danish dudes. Nothing spectacular. Then, that jewish guy gets behind the drumkit and one dude from Venezuela picked up the percussion. The band went absolutely apeshit! They played some of the craziest, coolest rhythms I have ever heard! The fact that the percussionists were both some 15-17 years old just adds some spicing to it.
So there.

That's one of my worst analogies, but I'm trying to say is "normal" people will do what's easiest for them(like wearing pants and shirts, then wear something else). Their not going to sit in a used CD bin for an hour picking out new stuff. They want stuff they know they will like. If you don't like that, change it! Get off your butt.
So, you're now going to ask me what could you do to change this? Well, the answer is time and money. That's right. It's not simple. It's hard work. You don't think you're willing to help out, skip the rest of this post(it's going to be a wasted of your time, and I know you don't want to waste any of that stuff). Anybody still reading this, guess what you got what I call long attention spans. :)
Time, how much? The more the better. Go out to your local CD store, and try to get them to play FII songs in the store. You can try to get your local radio station to play DT. There's a whole web page devoted to this. Find it and do your part. Bug MTV. Bug any guitar, bass, drum, keyboard mags to interview DT, or at least review FII. Just get out there and promote them. That's what the label isn't doing, right? So, if we take up, where the label never started, DT should be a big hit, right? no...
"what? no?" Then there's no hope at all. Wrong. This is where the money part comes in. But, most of you say "i don't have any money, i'm going to college." Well, guess what I'm sure most of you have boots, well how about you sell them. What!?! Sell my precious boots? That's right.(this is where Brian Cox has stopped reading :) Yep, if you think about it, how did Marrillion get to tour the US. That's right through the fans. Guess what, we could the same thing. I'm not saying give a shit load of money, but if we could do what the Freaks mailing list did it would help out DT, A LOT! It might even get on the news, and that's even more promotion.
But, my guess is this won't happen unless a leader figure pops up his/her head real soon. :-/

i think this is where i got my "metallica" influence idea for my original "sounds like Load" review of PS....bleeding me is in constant rotation on the radio.....and when i heard PS, that's where my mind wandered, before hearing the Floyd-influence........

I ordered "Beware of Darkness" and "The Official Bootleg" directly from Radiant, and received them in about a week and a half to two weeks. As for Magna Carta stuff, everything I have I bought in a store (like, you know, one outside the computer lab, with walls and real people and stuff).

In my ultra-limited experience, I found that one of the best ways to find a duplicator is to call three or four of them and say "Hi, I'd like 500 CDs. How much? Wow, your competitor offered them to me at $x. And they threw in four-color liners." Etc. Someone will want your business enough to undercut the other guy.
Of course, the closer you live to a major city, the easier this is to do.

They're incredible. If you like 70s type prog (Yes, Genesis, etc. - that old Mellotron and Hammond sound), but you're a sucker for great melodies and catchy hooks, then this is the band for you. Buy anything you can find from them - it's all good.
And, not for nothin', Spock's Beard comes complete with a recommendation from none other than Mike Portnoy himself, who calls them "the best prog band since Marillion."
As an aside, the Beard's drummer, Nick D'Virgilio, is one of the drummers on the new Genesis album, "Calling All Stations" (which, btw, kicks ass).
