Agree with you on Soffera's performance. Literally a moving
performance for me (some parts on CiS actually cause a shiver to go
thru my back). Last I heard about him was
something I read back in Feb. or Mar. or so (from the Shadow Gallery page,
I think). Anyway, I read that he had left the band to go after his
jazz fusion interests (I think I'm gonna pick up whatever he turns
out, hehehe) and that SG had already gotten themselves a new drummer
who was supposed to be really good, the new CD was gonna kick ass,
and all that. I don't remember the new guy's name, but I do remember
that it was an unfamiliar name. Then again, that's not saying much.
I didn't even know who the hell richard rhoades was until a coupla months
ago when these bastards on #ytsejam (who will go unnamed, hehehe)
decided to rake me for never having heard of him before..

Anyone?
Bueller?
(Taken from a post I saw here last week.)

Yeah, same here actually. I picked up both at the same time three
months ago, and blueprint definitely strikes me as a stronger CD. I
dunno, I've only had 'em for a coupla months, maybe I'll reverse my
opinion or my opinion will reverse me.
Later, folks...

I agree... It's amazing how once Kevin Moore left, the lyrical quality
dropped off
somewhat.... so one would expect that it was very heavily KM influenced,
but then
when you look at some of the KM singles, the lyrics are not very good
either. (at
least the few I've heard/seen). One must wonder where the "great" lyrics
of surrounded,
Another Day, TTT, WFS, etc. (a few from Awake), have gone to? maybe I just
haven't
heard enough of the new stuff... but it sounded lacking.

Our cable system offers something like this, a 30 channel music service. I had it for a few years for free (family connections), and it was really cool. If anybody has access to something like this, I highly recommend it.

That's what I thought ;-) > > Mark
Hi Mark:
I agree with you for the most part. After listening to a CD for three or four time one usually cannot say 'this CD sucks' or 'this CD kicks ass'. And by no means, this can be done by listening to some low quality ra or wav or whatsoever files. I must admit, when I first got _I&W_ long time ago, I didn't fall in love with the CD instantly. I liked /Pull me under/ very much (that was the reason for me buying the CD in the first place), but I wasn't too impressed by the rest of the CD. I think that's no shame. The most important thing is to TAKE THE TIME, be patient and to give it one more try. _I&W_ now is my favourite record of all times.
When listening to a CD for the first time you get a certain impression. But after listening some more times, your perception of the songs is likely to change. The first impression is very important though. If somebody says 'I like/hate this CDs after listen to it for the first time' that's OK. But he/she shouldn't consider this to be a now and forever statement, but be ready to alter his/her opinion.
I guess it happened to all of us before, that after listening to a CD for the first time, we loved it but still it got kind of boring after a while and vice versa. My point is: Don't say 'this is what I think of _FII_ (or any other new CD) now and forever - Amen' although you didn't really get to know the CD. Btw, did you realize that this is what the record industry wants us to do? If you listen to the crap music that's been criticed here (and for good reason) you instantly know each detail of each song. You simply can *consume* it, no interpretaion needed. This is so easy for them just to have us consume the music. It also helps them to make more money, since 'consuming' music takes only little time. They want us to listen to portion of their shit today, to forget about it tomorrow and be ready to *buy* the next portion.
Rock music is here to stay. It's not suitable to be consumed today & forgotten tomorrow. That's why they don't like it.

Why couldn't you just answer like that in the first place instead of coming off like an asshole? In the first post you said something like "How many times do I have to tell you?". To be honest, I've never seen that topic come up before - at least in the past few months.

I am that way with some of their songs, but many of them knock me over right out of the gate, man! New Millenium, Lines in the Sand are two examples of the new stuff.
What's I really enjoy is that there's a so much going on in a song of, say 8+ minutes, that there's bound to be something new I'll hear within the song on repeated listens. It's almost like hearing a different song for a moment...
