Here's a fun game -- is this person among us?

I was talking to one of my friends, who's currently going to Millersville,
and he happened to say this:

    >A good story: I was in one class wearing my Rush shirt. I got to talking
    >with this guy that had just transferred in from IUP. He said, 'Rush. That's
    >all my room mate back at IUP ever listened to. Well, that and Dream
    >Theater.' Note should be made that "Dream Theater" was said with a strong
    >sarcastic nasal-y "oh, them, the high and mighty band." I laughed at that
    one.

So, I immediately followed up by asking who this guy was, in case I knew
him. A while passed, and then I got this:

    >Remember the Rush/DT dude at IUP? His name is Brian "Icorps/Icore/Icorn" or
    >something like that (he didn't seem too certain). Anyway, the guy told me
    >today that this guy was constantly reading "Rush Internet lists...."

Do you know this person? Are you this person? If so, spill the beans, ...

ok, due to the incredible reesponse we got from this (a whopping FOUR
replies), I'll follow up on this. This is something serious, or at least
it will be if enough ppl get interested. RIght now, we're getting ppl
together to help DT out...but after that, hopefully, it will turn into a
huge underground network. The basic idea is to get ALL the music-lovers on
the net together. This way all artists, by promoting themselves here, will
be given a fair chance. But we need more ppl...and I'd personally like
more ppl involved in the planning process.

This will be a big 'FUCK YOU' to the music industry. The net has made such
a thing possible. It's up to us to make it happen.

I will shortly have a mirror site up for FII, in the US, off of a T1.
You can access it at http://www.cs.brandeis.edu/~mikeb/dt.html There
is a note there now stating that the site is down. I will remove that
when the server is up (it is being served by a different machine).
Hopefully we can get some more mirror sites up there as well...

I couldn't agree more. I have always though this, ever since I first heard the TDoE version of ACoS, then The Mirror and eventually the new ACoS confirmed it.

Just go to http://access.mountain.net/~rael/reviews.htm and follow the links. Look for _FII_ there the weekend after it's release (probably).

Oh yeah, some DTC: Well, I really like "Hell's Kitchen" so far of the 3 new tunes I've snatched off the net.

yep, i've said once and i'll say it again: Ænima is one awesome cd. The songs are just excellently crafted to grab you from the beginning and let you go till they end...and a lot of the time staying away from traditional structure. The guitarist sure ain't no Vai, but over the years he's devoloped a very unique style (actually kinda Fripp-ish during the solos). The vocalist is not the best but has a very cool voice and sings very emotionally..and the lyrics are great too. And drummer is just incredible...he *is* a virtuoso on drums. In fact I believe he studied at some jazz conservatory. He's just amazing..and uses electronic percussion in a very imaginative way. And I personally consider Tool to be progressive. Not part of the 'prog rock' genre, but their ideas and songwriting are progressive and innovative.

They're much more than the creepy metal dudes MTV makes you think they are.

our local rock station here in Ft. Smith, Arkansas has been playing "Burning My Soul" this week. friends have been approaching me where i work commenting on how awesome this song is. kewl!

the bad newz is that i don't think there are going to be enuff cd's available on Sept 23rd for everyone that's showing an interest. i've checked with a few places to see how many they have ordered and my guess (and it's only a guess cos i don't count so good ;-) is that a whole lot more people are going to buy this cd then what's initially being shipped in.

hint: for those of us that didn't order FII in advance *yzzy slaps himself* be sure to get to your favorite rock shop early on the 23rd. ;-)

    Hey there jammanoids!!!

I'm still kinda dizzy (just took a good shower, I was stinking like hell!!!), the concert tonight was great!

Dr. Sin opened again, and played a different setlist this time: they included their hit "Down in the Trenches", and also had a special guest appearance by Johnattan Mover (sp?, that guy from Satch's band), who played a song with them. It was a longer show than yesterdays, and they seemed to have fixed the problems with the sound, although the keyboards were still null, and the bass too low.

Now for DT: the setlist was exactly the same as Thursday's (wanna see it? Read the jams you lazy asses, I'm pretty tired to write it all down again.), with a little correction to the order played: swap "Peruvian Skies" and "Just Let Me Breath", and you have it (I was not sure of that yesterday). I think there was some sort of problem with JP's guitars and Derek's keyboards, they were sounding pretty weird sometimes... Myung's bass was a little higher today, but could be much more higher. LaBrie's vocals were awesome again, and I don't need to comment anything about Portnoy, he kick serious butt!!! (Yeah, he stopped his solo in the middle of "The Ytsejam" - actually, because he threw his stick to the air and did not reach it =) -, got a camera and started to film the crowd! Man, it was amazing! =) ) Besides the sound problems, the concert was GREAT, and the crowd was crazy like never before!!! Everybody jumping around, and singing all the songs along with LaBrie... it really kicked ass!!!

Damn... there'll be no more concerts around here... Now I'll have to wait 'till 98 to see them again (and let them know we'll be reminding them of their promise!!! =) )

I'm sorry about my poor english but .. do you speak portuguese? Well, they started with "A Change of Seasons" and in the middle of it they started another song, and another, and as you know they still mixing songs from piece to piece. La Brie was dressing a yellow Brazilian Soccer T-Shirt and his voice was perfect. Only now I realize Portnoy had cutted a lot of his hair down and so did Petrucci. They played "The Silent Man" including drums and the guitar solo became a electric guitar solo with a soft distortion. The crowd was getting insane cuz this was the first show of DT in Brazil and I believe they liked us and come back soon. La Brie was excited with the feedback from people. They played "Caught in a Web" slowlier and heavier. They played about 4 new songs. Well, Sao Paulo is always ready for DT concerts again, as always!!

Okay, people.. Just got back from the second DT concert here in Brazil. The setlist was exactly the same of yesterday's show (Vanza posted it), but with some particular details. After the (short) drumsolo at Ytsejam, Portnoy did the usual pause, got his handcam and taped the crowd. Don't need to say that he got an awesome return from us... :) Everybody screamin' Dream Theater, with the band doing the rhythm. Very cool... Then, MP felt like it was time to continue the song, and they started.. BUT it happened a very unusual "instrumental-disorder".. :) After a stop-and-go, they restarted. It was funny to see the guys with a little misunderstanding.. :) And after the enormous instrumental-jam-solo on Learning To Live, LaBrie forgot to come back to sing the end of the song, so we and Portnoy did it.

That's my little review.. Certainly will be more from the fellow brazilian jammers.. Anything else you guys want to know, just email me privately.
