"The best" is not necessary. "Great" is both necessary and sufficient.
It appears we have met those criteria.
Now it's time to ROCK!!!!!!!!
Brandon Vaughn:

Too late! Zappa already beat 'em to it, along with a buffet of other
interesting sounds :)
> I'll be first in line; how about you?
Quit fucking cutting in line, asshole!
:)
I was watching Fantastic Futures last night on The Learning Channel. The
subject matter was about Robots and specifically Robot Domination. In
the show, they gave sort of an historical account of movies devoted to
robots and how they are going to take over the world :) The interesting
thing I noticed was a movie done in 1926 called METROPROLIS!!!! Now I
have to go find this to see if Metropolis is the name of a robot in it,
which would, of course, add new meaning to "Metropolis watches and
thoughtfully smiles".....
Buh bye :),

Maybe I was wrong. Maybe Rudis turned DT down. Dont' remember. As far as
seeing ELP live, I did. Unbelieveable. Kicked my ass. These two men make
me feel so unworthy of the keyboard. Anyway, if you don't like the music
of Rudis/Morganstein simply because of lack of vocals, bear in mind that
ELP has some songs that don't have vocals either. Either way, both are
awesome. Wish there were more bands like those two.

Hi Jammers,
Long time ago !!!! I've been off the web for a while, I was really busy
lately, but I am back now, The homepage is also updated with some things,
nothing special, but we are making arrangements for our forthcoming release
(second album !!!!!!!!) Well, we did write seven songs now and we are
making the eight right now, so when that is done I guess we have enough
songs to fill our second CD, the songs are quite different from our first
release "Insights", it is heavier (definately !!!!, more chunky guitarparts
!!!!), more experimental, more emotional and a lot more experimental, so be
warned........
Anyway, we have six titles so far, they are:
- Lethe's Bowl
- Parvedian Trust
- Childhood Facade
- Divided
- When The Cradle Cries
- Universal Roots
Anyway, we are planning new gigs at the moment, we haven't played for a few
months because of the arrangements for the second CD, we did record a
demotape in our rehearsalroom for Magna Carta, but now we are planning more
dates, for now just one is for sure and arranged:
October 4th: Beneden, Sliedrecht (The Netherlands)
About The gathering, it is a great band, they aren't progressive at all,
their music is really simple, but it are great songs and the female singer
(ANNEKE !!!!!!!!!!) is awesome, her voice is just a gift from heaven, it
takes you away into infinity, just listen to their latest release
"Nighttime Birds", it is almost like Pink Floyd, but still more beautiful,
the female voice is just............., well, no words can describe this,
just listen for yourselves, The musicians aren't really technical wonders,
espcially not the guitarists, the only thing they do is playing chunky
powercords and open chords, but it just fits the music perfectly.
Anyway, at Friday, september 19th they are playing in my hometown, SITTARD
in Fenix, I will be there, that's for sure.....
Well, nice to talk to you all after this long, just keep on watching our
page for more news, we will keep you informed.
Take Care,
Marcel

Two things. I never heard of that Vince guy, but i have a tape copy of
the Transformers soundtrack and I think that the instrumental stuff is
incredible. The rest of it is retro 80s, which is fine if you are into
that stuff, which I am a little, but some of it is outright cheesey for
its day. Never heard of any of the guys you mentioned, except Cairo,
which I own on CD. I would definitely love some tapes. anyone want to
educate me? The jam has done a lot of that for me in the two years I have
been here on and off. Hell, I would've never heard of any Magna Carta
stuff if it weren't for the Jam, and doing a prog rock show, but all my
prog interest outside of Rush came from this list. This list even forced
me to rediscover Yes and genesis, whcih only sent me down the spiral into
prog rock even more. so, I ask again. Anybody with tapes of
keyboard-heavy prog music that wouldn't mind making a copy for a
keyboardist who would love to hear more Rudis/Morganstein type material
can email me. I have nothing to trade unltess you want a copy of the RM
CD. Well, maybe we can talk about things, I'd have to look through my CDs
again.

NEVER LISTEN TO AN INDIAN PERSON WHEN IT COMES TO HOME CURES.
I'm dead serious. I've have gotten some of the most fucked up advice
from relatives. I was India about seven years ago, and I'm very myopic.
At the time, I wore very thick glasses. One of my relatives told me that
the way I can cure my near sightedness was to sit and stare at trees
for 2 hours every morning for a year while eating radishes continuosly.
I'm not kidding.
Another one told me that not taking a dump within an hour of waking up
in the morning can lead to chronic depression.
Another one told me to get rid of a pimple by STARING AT IT IN A MIRROR
WITHOUT BLINKING FOR 10 MINUTES EVERY MORNING.
I'm fairly certain that Partha has had similar experiences. Just grin
and bear the advice when it comes to you. I'm going to India in
December and I expect to once again be bombarded by ridiculous advice
like this.
Wishing you good health,

OK Jammers... I have a question...
I was sitting around eating lunch with some other grad students/friends,
and one of the girls there is from Toronto.. so I shyly said.. "Ah.. the
home of RUSH" (she smiled =) ). At any rate.. that spurred a conversation
about RUSH, and another friend from Seattle (who only listenes to pop
stuff) mentioned "rush.. yeah.. my soccer coach helped write a song for
them. Some guy.. neil.. neill.. cant remember his last name,.. woudl ride
his cycle to the soccer field and hang out with my coach.. peter talbot"
This was back in 1980 when he was 8 or 9 years old.. and he also said that
it never really meant anything since he doesnt know the music at all.
I am, of course, slightly jealous at this. BUT this raised some questions
in my own mind.
Did Neil ever live in Seattle???!?!? Thats the part that surprised me the
most.
Help me out here =).
Now all i have to do is get my friend to introduce me to his soccer coach
=)
Cheers!

(if not the favorite).

Hi all!
Just a quick note to let you all know the page at:
http://www.goodnet.com/~durnik
has been updated thoroughly. In addition to bringing you more up
to speed on all DT-related issues, I now have available for replica the
two best Rush boots ever, "Animated" and "Mirrors", among other new
additions to the site (did anyone ask for Queensryche Unplugged? It's
there, as "Silent Lucidity). In fact notwithstanding the numerous p/g and
esl video copy boots, the archive of available Rush stuff is damn near
complete, missing only stuff like Three Magicians, Live Hemispheres,
Dances with the Moon, and Superconductor. For DT I have the Caught in
Amsterdam show on DAT but not the actual boot CD of it, anyone have that?
It's an unbelievable show with a LONG version of Metropolis played as a
second encore, which has snippets of One and A Fortune In Lies in it,
among other surprises. Sound is _fantastic_.
And thanks to those who posted good deals on CDRs to the Jam...I'm
heading over to those websites right now to see about placing an order. :)
Also, the decision is _really_ near final to offer the SNES CD, Genesis
CD, and so forth, as mentioned on the page. This is a blast... just ask
the guys who've tried my "betas" of these CDs... Dale Newberry, Vince
LuPone, and ~eckie.
Take care all!

Hi All,
I picked up the Jap import of Savatage's 'The Wake Of
Magellan' last night, this is only my first impressions of it.
Firstly the cover artwork is stunning, the old Savatage name logo is gone,
but the old logo wouldn't have fitted in with the rest of the cover
concept. Second Jon Olivia is pictued with the band and credited as a band
member again.
The Music ?
Let me first say that I am not a big fan of the band and I don't like any
of the albums before Zak joined.
But this album really impressed me from the first song to the last.
Comparing it only to the other three albums that I have (EoT, HoF and DWD)
I'd compare it to the style of DWD. It, to my ears it is more adventurous,
dare I say it progressive than anything I have heard from them in the past,
more piano/keyboards and some great singing and vocal melodies from Zak.
BTW, there are no extra songs credited on the Jap import either.
Rush 'Mirrors' boot, picked up the CD a couple of weeks ago from an online
store in Singapore, great quality boot and the band's performance is superb
too. It is one of the best boots I have ever heard from any band and I have
heard quite a few.
I don't have the URL handy, I will post that tonight from home, but they
have a great selection of boots, including the Fix for 96 Providence show
(12/12/96) I have ordered from them a couple of times, only 7 days to ship
to me, although the last package arrived with every jewel case smashed.

Rudess turned DT down to play with the Dregs. To tell you how good he

played, so he sight read all the keyboard parts on stage.
