Excuse me........ can you make a practical example? In which song and
where?? Grunge?? Do you think that Pink Floyd are grunge?

I'm not saying 7 and 9 are missing, I know my odds, they have just become
scarce. There are some nice moments on FII, it's not a complete
disappointment, however, FII is far more simple than it's predecessors and
that's not what I was expecting after the hype on how great it is. It's a
nice record for anyone who likes regular hard rock, licks of this kind can
be found on any metal record. Dream Theater is not special anymore, like it
really used to be. Don't get me wrong, I'm a hard fan, I've listened to them
for 3 years, constantly. I play drums and I love Mike. I wear my Waking up
the World tour T-shirt and college with pride, I saw them in Helsinki
concert which was like a two hour orgasm but this new CD doesn't convince
me. They're not that special anymore. I'll try to adjust to FII like it was
a CD of very good prog-rock, but I guess I'll soon switch back to Images and
Words and Awake, now those are really great records from the great times.

Hi just wondering what the album sounds like?
Is it better or worst than the others?
On a scale on 1 to 10(best) What would it score?
Finally when will they tour Canada?

Take care you Rush influenced Ytsejammers!

    Hey jammers:

I forget who was mentioning it, but DT uses "When dream and day
unite" in Only A Matter of Time. I dunno of any other album that
has the title in a song.

    Great album covers:
Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power - the guy's getting his ass whipped!
Ratt - Reach for the Sky - look at it and please tell me what's going on

    Crap album cover:
Winger - Winger - album's cool, cover is questionable

I converted a Rush fan to a DT fan BTW. Anybody who wants to know
how, read on. This guy has every Rush album except one. So I'm like,
"Here, borrow my Dream Theater, you'll like them." So a couple weeks
later he writes me and tells me the album rules! (I gave him I&W) Then
he tells me how he went on a spending binge to get his own copy and
APSoG because KM plays keyboards. I'm thinking that some people
have such a bitter hatred of OFB because we try to shove the music
down their throats at every possible opportunity. That doesn't work!
Lead the horse to water, yet he only drinks if he chooses. If you throw
the horse in the water, you just have a wet and pissed off horse.

For those interested in great album warnings, the best one I've EVER heard
is from Ice-T's Home Invasion. You have the parental advisory sticker on
the front, but the first track is also a warning (funny too).

"Attention. At this moment you are now listening to an Ice-T LP. If you are
offended by words like shit, bitch, fuck, dick, ass, hoe, cum, dirty bitch,
low mother fucker, nigga, hooker, slut, tramp, dirty low slut tramp bitch
    hoe,
nigga fuck shit, whatever. Take the tape out now. This is not a pop album."

If you want to agrue if someone can ask the question of what a band
sounds like on the jam you're in for one hell of a flame. I'll usually
hear of a prog bands on other prog metal groups on the internet, but
I'll usually wait for someone here to check them out and give a review.
That's also about when I have money to buy the disc, too. :) Anyway,
just to make this clear...General questions about music ARE allowed, as
long as the answers don't take up too much space in here.

I got mine! It is good to know the owners of cd stores.... I was at the Marillion concert Friday night. Scott Sullivan, the guy that owns the store, was standing behind me. I told him I'd be there on Tuesday to get Falling Into Infinity and the new one by the Sundays. He told me to go there on Saturday and I could buy them, instead of waiting till Tuesday. People are entitled to their opinions. I don't think it sucks. I think it ROCKS!!! It sounds great at high volume in the Neon. Just Let Me Breathe is still my favorite song. So anyway, I was at Jillians in the heights Saturday night. A guy from one of the big stations here in Cleveland was there giving away stuff. I told him the new cd is coming out. He asked me to describe them. (I hate having to describe them). "They are a little like... well... umm.... They are a progressive rock band. They have a bit of a hard edge, sorta like Metallica. But they aren't really a metal band. They write LONG songs, because they like to." He told me to talk to another guy at the station that plays new music that might not get airplay. He has had success in getting some unusual bands into rotation. I dropped him an e-mail last night. Now I wait and see. Cleveland jammers, start listening to Pat the Producers show. We just might get to hear DT on the airwaves in Cleveland afterall! Okay, enough for now, George.

"Images and words" is used in Wait for Sleep. I don't know about "Awake", but it wouldn't surprise me at all if it's used somewhere.

Hey, folks. Just wanted to let you all know that there is yet another new FAQ update. The main thing you'll notice is a reorganization of Section 6, the Songs section, which should make it easier to find information about the songs on the new album, once you start asking things frequently. :)

Give it a look, and let me know if you see anything wrong or misplaced or whatever. And if you'd like to mirror the FAQ, or you *are* mirroring it and I don't know about it, please drop me an e-mail. Thanks! -Chris

Compare Awake to I&W..... Compare I&W to WDADU...

All of those albums are very different from each other. You can't judge a DT album after listening to it for one week. It took me a YEAR to get used to Awake.... two months for I&W.... and I only got used to all of the songs in WDADU two months ago... That's four months after I got it.

So, let's wait with reviews like that for like after X-mas (or Hanuka in my case...)

Hey there, Yeah, I'm finally back here as if any of you really cared. Hello to all those who might have missed me. I suppose I have some explaining to do though. First off, my pending trades are in the mail as of this week. I apologize for the delay, but it couldn't be helped. Those with concerns, please mail me privately. I'll be more than happy to reassure you. Next, the Ytselist is back up and running. If you have any traders you would like to submit, or if you want a copy of the list, let me know. I may not be as quick as I used to be in getting you a copy, but it will get there. Also, the Saigon Kick list will be back in action soon enough. Just awaiting an explanation from Mr. Wyatt (band manager) as to what the hell he's doing. He isn't being completely honest with fans on his web page, but that's not a surprise. He's just out for the buck... Finally, I hate all of you who got the album early. Well, not really, but you know what I mean. I just found out how expensive CDs are in the South when I went to get October Rust this week. Fifteen bucks for a year old CD?! Money grubbing sons-a-bitches! Anyone have a reliable source to get the single yet? And anyone know what's on it? Probably seen this question a million times, so feel free to bum-rush me with your insults. I'm immune. How's White Wolf by the way? Fully healed I hope? I left while he was still bed-ridden. Someone please let me know. How many list members does it take to change a light bulb? Just seeing if you're paying attention. :) Charleston, SC rules. If anyone's ever in the area, please let me know. I saw the BB King Blues Fest here last week. BB was as great as ever, even at 71 years old. Going to see David Bowie soon and the "Wavefest" which David Byrne is headlining. Aw shit. There I go mentioning irrelevant music. :P Like anyone's even reading my tripe any more. Aside from that, it's good to be back. I just need one favor. My computer illiterate roommate erased my subscription message, so could someone let me know how to get into ack mode. I want to be able to weed out all those Dream Theater reviews. I imagine they'll be worse than the Fates ones. Oh, wait. This is a DT list. D'oh! :) As for the ack thing, just the body of the message is fine. I know the address and subject line. Impatient??? I think we're all impatient... but we didn't "snag promo copies" becuase we're impatient, we got them because they were available to us!!! Who in their right mind is going to say "NO!!!" to the elektra representative who asks "You want a free copy of the new album for radio play"?? Most people who have it early got it for that reason, so they could support them (thru radio play, cd-store play, etc..)

And of course I plan to buy the album when the release comes out (it has different cover art, lyrics are included, and the CD itself is different)... I'll probably buy the Japanese import since it has the bonus tracks, and there's a shop back home who deals exclusively with imports (and has them very cheap)... so keep your pants on... most of us "impatient people" actually SUPPORT Dream Theater, and don't want to scam off a band that is in tough enough times as they are (i.e. unsupportive label, obscurity, etc.)...
