Hi, I have a question about a Dream Theater tour date.
I recently got a tape labeled:
            VARESE,ITA,PALAGHIACCIO 4JUL95

I looked at the tour date history file, the only one I could find was out
of date, but the dates around this time were:

06/13/95 Lido Beach, NJ Club Malibu (Echolyn)
07/28/95 Hampton Bay, NY Canoe Place Inn

Does anyone know if they went through Italy in July 1995? Also, could
someone tell me where to find a more up to date tour date file?

    Thanks!

    Stephan

Either that or it demonstrates that you can pretty much to that any album
there is. for example it's "only a matter of time" before that dude gets
branded for making "a fortune in lies", but I really doubt they had that in
mind when they made the cover.

Yeah I have the same experiences. Actually, I listen to DT with headphones on most of the
time, and I've kind of gotten into a habit of listenting to them on while rocking on my
rocking chair. But damn, the time flies. I have literally rocked from something like 3:30 pm
to 9:00pm at night just keeping the cd on loop, or sometimes going through multiple CD's..
it's ridiculous. Like a naturual high or something, well, all good music does that to me, not
just DT, but the first time I heard DT (ACOS believe it or not) I was hooked.

On the 1st quote, I believe that music is an emotion. And you can't really judge it by how
"technical" it is. Sometimes music just has to be felt really. I know Music theory, but a
lot of the time I choose not to use it with my band, becuase I believe that really deep
analysis of a song usually has the affect of making it bland, and worn out. Well that's just
    my take on things.

So if one does not care for the new record - that person is ignorant?
    It is tough to label someone's opinion as ignorant. Let me take that back;
it's obviously not difficult at all. I realize you aren't saying that -
you are just bashing the *ignorant* jammers who dislike it! Aha! I guess
the only thing I can really take umbrage with would be the part about people
on the list not caring. Each side of a given debate should have its opinion
voiced - be it distasteful or not. So, all you who hate the new one, or will
hate the new one, be you ignorant or not, *I* am listening. Like everyone
else on the list cares what I say about that kind of thing...

Well, I'm just counting the hours like everyone else. Just (successfully)
requested "anything from the new Dream Theater" on the local station, so
while waiting for them to play it, I went searching. Someone had mentioned
the Elektra DT page being updated...by about a sentence. I found that, but
they also had another (very little) piece about them. It's just an
animated gif of a few pictures from the cover and a little blurb. Boy, and
everyone here has been saying they're not getting promoted. How can you
beat a two sentence addendum to a two year old web site? I guess with a
little picture. Anyway, here it is:

just "one" best DT album, there is no best one Rush album....they are

You have crystallized my thoughts MOST eloquently, Mr. Ptacek!
I think your last post should be framed and and made required
reading for all those so-called DT fans out there crying "sellout"
    like a bunch of 3-year-olds.

FII is nothing less than a masterpiece. Listen with an open mind
and you will understand more and more with each spin. If you're
spending your life dying to hear another wank-fest like the middle
of Metropolis, then please do the rest of us a big favor, unsubscribe
and go play I&W backwards or something.

Judging from the divided opinions we've seen so far, this list
could get REAL ugly after tomorrow. I just wanted to publically agree
with Chris before the jam got too busy for anyone to notice. If you
missed his article the first time around, please, for the love of god,
go back and find it. If you've already read it, go back and read it
again. A more articulate piece of wisdom this jam has rarely seen.

like with AWAKE...I had that like a month before it came out...oh well.

    Wow!

This album is the quintasential meaning of PROGRESSIVE. Besides the
maturity of DT writing (sorry, I haven't spent much time on the lyrics,
but I obviously don't expect a decline), every song on FII is not just
different than each other they're different than anything else before
(besides the few White Zombie riffs I heard).

All I can say is that this album has the following elements:
progrssiveness, metal, classical, jazzy, phsycadelic, blues, ballads,
emotion, power, uniqueness, character and a great sound.

Actually I'm surprised that it sounds this great! It's so diverse, yet
so Dream Theaterish. The songs that blew me away off the bat were New
Millennium, Lines In The Sand and Just Let Me Breathe. But every one
kicks ass (and just think....they still have a few great ones written
    waiting to be released).

I hope all you doubters see the light...because you don't know what
you're missing. This album is the true meaning of progressiveness.

I agree 100% there. So far I've been able too get a good listen to the
solos for Peruvian Skies and Hell's Kitchen, and both are amazing...it's
tingle city man, total emotion. I wouldn't doubt that this CD will make

OK, i agree that the music is the only thing that really counts. But you
can't deny that the cover affects how you hear the music. I'm no
psychologist, but visual and audio experience seem to go hand in hand.
That's why when I listen to ACOS, without looking at the cover, I 'see'
blue. I wouldn't go as far as saying that it'll decide if yoiu like it or
not, bet it can definitely affect, both positively and negatively, how you
    hear the music.

    >The best way to judge a person is by his behavior at times of

No, a person 'real personality' is way too complex to judge in a briefg
moment. A moments behavior at times of stress, is exactly that, his
behavior during times of stress..just a part of his personality. When we're
under stress just about everybody is an asshole because our bodies are
tense and the blood pressure is high.

OK first reference..it was a very weird dream. I dreamt (.org, sorry,
couldn't resist:) that I was this lame video show that's on every day here
in Panama, and they said they were gonna put the 'Burning My Soul'. I was
like, What? they already have a video?

So I put in my video tape and record, and the video starts. There's JLB
walking in a dark street, ala Satriani's 'Big Bad Moon' for those of who've
seen it... then eventually they all meet at a club (the song hasn't started
yet). So then they all plug up and start jamming. At this point I'm
expecting to hear BMS, but instead they start playing Phish "Stash". I wait
patiently, but they never play BMS. Suddenly I realize I'm dreaming, wake
up, and realize that I'd set up the timer on my stereo to wake me up with a
Phish CD. It was kind of a relief, actually:)

Second refernce: a friend just let me borrow Phish's 'Lawn Boy', and on a
couple of songs, there are these high-pitched screams in the background.
Later on in the credits, I read :

Engineered by Dan Archer and Dean LaBrie

and i think, " cool, labrie, hehe"

    later on I read:

Heavy Metal Screams- Dean "The Cheese" LaBrie

    hehehehe:)

    Hey,

WRIF FM here in Detroit, MI had picked up Dream Theater's "Burning My Soul" and will play it if enough of us request the song on a daily basis. If you live in the Detroit area (Or just want to help DT get some air-time) please call WRIF and request the new Dream Theater.

It is important that you don't give the song title, as they might dismiss it as a ploy to get air-time from Elektra and not legitimate listeners requesting the song. So call 313-298-WRIF and request the new Dream Theater. If you call once a day and they get enough requests, they start to put it into heavy rotation and play it all the time.

Thanx in advance. -John --- "Life is cast in shadows, ,swodahs ni tsac si efiL" molded by an expert hand, ,dnah trepxe na yb dedlom and the scenes that play before us, ,su erofeb yalp taht senecs eht and are the tragedies of man." ".nam fo seidegart eht era
