Indeed, "eye of the beholder" is a great disc. If you like these, you
just have to get the album by the Electric Band II (mostly different
people, including the even better than Weckl Gary Novak (I think I have
the name right)). The album is called "paint the world" and it's
unbelievable. Music to get you moving, if you don't mind the time
changes.
And for our lover of standards, check out the version of Jimmy Heath's
CTA.

well i dunno .. i have inside out and paint the world.. and inside out is
much better IMO of course, its more "wacky" ( something i like in jazz) and
i dunno .. i think the lineup is much better in Inside out and Beneath the
mask ..
Chick Corea : keys piano
John Pattitucci: bass
Frank Gambale: guitar
Dave Weckl (an animal): drums
Eric Marienthal: sax...

Damn it, now my keyboard is wet with slobber. I'm sure if the show just happened to make it's way out of your archieves and somehow get to a jammer it would quickly 'make the rounds' so to speak. Thanks for the recent spew of input Mike, I relly enjoy seeing the bands take on the issues.

I had a horrible experience with the management there, but I'm sure you would consider me fortunate. I had ninth-row tickets (bought from Ticketmaster, amazingly enough, though not by me) but I ended up sitting much further back becuase they had to eliminate the ninth row. Apparently, the stage was too big and they had to take seats out. While I've always been disappointed, your comments put things in perspective. Still, there was not much of an excuse on their part (especially since they showed a complete lack of sympathy and understanding). Does anyone else have similar experiences (assuming anyone's paid attention to me)?

I was going to throw out the first Vicious Rumors album (Soldiers of the Night) as an earlier example of Moore's work, but I think Varney had a hand in that one too, so it probably helps *your* arguement. :)

Any chance for Montreal, Qu=E9bec ?. I know you did come in Ontario lately, but it would be great if you could give a show in Montreal. I live 6 hours-car-travel and wouldn't mind the trip to go see DT there (seeing Pink Floyd and Rush there, DT would finally make the Dream Trinity possible for me *eg*).
I think you haven't made a show in MTL since Images & Words tour, was the show that bad ?

<Just as a matter of interest, I was wondering what the fastest speeds are, that people have heard any guitarist play, using alternate picking.>
Well, I have heard many solo guitarists and many instructional videos, which I believe usually show a good picture of how good a guitarist can play *Technically.* I believe the fastest pickers would have to go to either Shawn Lane or Chris Impellitery. Shawn by far does the harder, more complicated independent fingering *picking* licks at speeds faster than anybody I have heard. Chris, on the other hand, might get a little faster than shawn, but the licks are less complicated, though they are INSANELY FAST!!!!!! Both their instructional videos will blow you away.

Just been listening to ACOS while on my way to work this morning - that song is an absolute masterpiece. One day I will learn to play along to that track (I play bass - is there any tab available for it). I can't imagine Met2 being anything like as powerful or inventive as ACOS.
On a sadder note Iron Maiden's new CD isn't the best at all - there are a few long songs on it but all that means is that we get to hear the 2 line chorus sung a million times before the song ends. No instrumentals, very little dazzling bass lines or fiddly bits from Steve (still the same chord progressions) - I'm pretty dissapointed. On the plus side the artwork is excellent - IMHO Maiden's best to date.
Talk later,
Rob.

First of all I apologize for the Rockies spoiling the Diamond Backs opening day, 9 to 1 . Well not really, Go Rockies...... :)
But to my point is it true that Dave Mustaine, Alice Cooper and Rob Halford and possibly others, sang the National Anthem at the game? My friend caught a glimpse but was not totally sure, and I did not get a chance to catch it on TV.
