I thought the same thing... another thing that dissapointed me was the fact
that it wasnt actually a live performance.. but little bits and pieces..
since you can see during same track pieces (for example on track 8 or 9 the
acoustic guitar/keyboard duo) matheos wearing 2 diferent shirts .. theres
parts where they show him up close with a mid sleeve white/gray/cream (the
video quality is so bad you cant tell.. thats another thing) shirt.. and in
a second later they show another shot of him with a black/gray tank top.. i
mean.. it shoulve been a complete "real" live performance..

I received the Fasten Your Seatbelts boot from Nick Bogovich a couple of
days ago. If you haven't ordered it yet, do so now!! The following URL
will get you all the information you need:

    http://web.mit.edu/bogie/dt/fys.html

The CD is a very nice audience recording from 1st leg of the US Falling to
Infinity tour, plus you get 5 FII demos!!! The sound and packaging meet
(and many cases exceed) the quality of other FII boots that will cost twice
as much. At $25 for a 2CD set, I don't think you can beat this one.

Happily listening to my copy of Fasten Your Seatbelts,

    Richard Warren

it makes sense that you would sweat most of it out, but the majority of people ive played with that couldnt play well drunk were drummers. it has more to do with their ability to play at all though, a good solid drummer is something of a rarity around here for some reason. ive played with a couple that can play pretty shitfaced, and ive also played with a couple guitarists who can play flawlessly in the same state (although they might be propped up against their cabs by the last song ; ).

<<Of course, I wouldn't want to start playing DT while sloshed off of my ass, I've noticed that sometimes it becomes very difficult to count farther than four when I drunk off my ass. Actually, I try not to count when I'm drunk, because that just gets confusing. >>

i know where youre coming from on this. when im singing and im sober i tend to have the next line in my head as im singing the one that comes before it, like im a line ahead in the song. i dont consciously think "whats next" it just pops into my head, thats just how my mind works. when im not sober, i just go on autopilot, which confuses me sometimes, because i get all freaked that i wont remember the words, also one of the reasons why i typically dont get drunk that often when playing. im way more conscious of screwing up words in the drunken state, its like ive convinced myself i will forget them even though i know them forwards and backwards. i dont play an instrument in the band (unless tambourine, etc. count), so i often wonder how the instrumentalists minds work when theyre performing, if they are on autopilot all the time, or if they think about whats coming up, etc. im sure a lot of it depends on the difficulty of what youre playing. then throw in the option of singing (either lead or backing vocals) and playing, then what happens? i know quite a few people (both people who are primarily singers and those doing backups) who have problems with that depending on how the two line up musically. thought on that anyone?

Here are some cd's I recently bought:

Death "Individual Thought Patterns" This is my first cd by this band, and I like it alot. I'm not real into the really brutal stuff, so this more mellow, melodic death metal sounds good to me. One thing I like about it is that Andy LaRoque plays guitar. And being the big King Diamond fan that I am, he makes this cd even cooler. I noticed that one of the guitar solos on the second song is copied almost exactly in one of the songs off of KD's Voodoo, but it is still real cool in both songs. Destiny and The Philosopher are my favorites on this album.

Stuck Mojo "Pigwalk" Wow, now this shit is awesome. I'm not a fan of rap that much, but I like Bonz. It's like a much heavier and much more talented RATM. The Sermon, and Despise are hilarious songs about alternative music. Can anybody tell me how Snappin' Necks, and Rising compare to this album? My favorites on here are Mental Meltdown, and Only the Strong Survive.

Entombed "To Ride, Shoot Straight, and Speak the Truth" Like the previous two cd's, this is my first album by this band, and I like it alot :) The riff on the title song sounds like that Meow Mix commercial, I can just hear a cat meowing along to it. I think this is the best cd that I have bought in awhile. The vocals are almost, but not quite a death metal growl. My favorites off of here are the title song, and Damn Deal Done.

Sepultura "Morbid Visions/Bestial Devastation" No, this isnt my first Sep cd. But it is my first of their early ones. Before I only had Roots, and Chaos AD. I like both of those better than this, but this is still pretty cool. It has the 8 songs from Morbid Visions, the 5 from their Bestial Devastation ep, a demo of necromancer, and a like recording of Anticop, which is the song Antichrist with different lyrics. It's amazing how this band has risen from a country with virtually no metal scene when they started out, and have made it so big.

Liquid Tension Experiment For those that don't know, this is an almost instrumental album with John Petrucci and Mike Portnoy from the progressive metal band Dream Theater, Jordan Rudess from somewhere, and Tony Levin from somewhere. The musicianship is excellent, and this whole cd was recorded in less than a week. There is a 30 min. long totally improv jam at the end, with no overdubs and no prewritten material whatsoever! Those who like things other than metal should check this out, if you can find it.

Primus "Pork Soda" I think this album is a bit darker than their others, but it's still just as much fun. I don't think Primus really needs any describing. Primus is simply Primus and there is nothing else quite like it :) This is a cool cd, but I don't think it would make a good starting place for somebody looking to get into them. Welcome to this World is a hell ofa song though.

I think the main problem here is budget. I am sure that one of the main resons that they used footage from several nights is that they had limited camera angles when they filmed each night, if they would have used just one night, it would really look like a one camera bootleg. Where as now it looks more like a multiple camera pro-shot boot (but it sill has that boot quality to it). I think if they knew they were filming they should have told Jim to wear the same shirt (he's the main reason that the multiple nights thing becomes obvious). I wish it would have had some more footage too, but I think the main point of this video is to document something that they won't perform in it's entirety again (or at least not very often)...

I had a tingling experience last night.. I was walking out of my old dorm and an old friend shouted for me to come up and visit. I went up and he wanted to listen to LTE (which I had and he didnt) so we put it in his stereo and blasted it (which was the first time I heard it loud and I LIKED IT!). Suddenly no less than five people poked their heads in the door and said very excitedly "wow - you also have Liquid Tension Experiment! FUCKEN COOL!!!". I am absolutely amazed right now - Ive met probably close to ten people with the CD - You have to wonder how well it is selling! And everyone who has it loves it :)

    another classic is born..

    Ahoy,

The show was in a place called the International Ballroom on the south side of the city, which is really a huge warehouse that used to be a furniture storage facility for some outlet nearby. Life of Agony was playing when we got there, and despite the fact that I don't like them that much, they played well and played hard while having a great old time up there. Coal Chamber played next - they look a lot like Marylin Manson and are about as talented. They did play hard though, except for their guitarist who was in front of me. He just stood there and stared out at the crowd while standing completely still and playing his two notes. Anyhow, the band did get the crowd moving. I spent Coal Chamber's set time in the pit knocking the crap out of people and sweating like hell with the other two guys I went to the show with. When Megadeth came on we had to fight our way back out so we could watch them play and not have to worry about getting drop kicked in the head by a 250 pound redneck. Megadeth was awesome as you would expect, though like before, the sound system was too much for an empty warehouse. A lot of the sound kind of blended together from time to time from all of the reverb, but they kicked ass nonetheless. Nick's drums were pounding everyone out there through the PA, and all guitar solos were dead on. They played about 22 songs, with a generous portion off of Cryptic Writings and an encore of Anarchy in the UK, totaling close to two and a half hours worth of playing time. A great show and a total body workout.
