I've given Savatage a chance and I don't like them. I bought "Streets,"
"Handful Of Rain" and "Dead Winter Dead" and was left unimpressed. Just
    thought I'd share.

Um, the date in Chicago has been, like, cancelled or something. Leave me

Take into account the fact that I go to school in Vermont, where no one, I
mean, NO ONE had or even heard of the album (believe me, I checked) and my
comment was appropriate. It was refreshing to walk into a store, spread my
arms out to their fullest extension, and not knock a bin of CDs over. I
just meant that they had a great selection, or at least a bigger one than
is normally available to me. I also picked up Mike Tramp's (ex-White Lion)
solo album during the same excursion at Tower, which I also couldn't find
in the Green Mountain State. I wasn't commenting on their prices.

When I returned to Tower a few weeks later to browse, I noticed
    > that although they had a LTE divider, there were no CD's.

I probably snagged the last one :)

I've been to Newbury before. If I would have known they would have it for
$4 cheaper, of course I would have gone there. Now that I know, I'll make
it a point to check them out the next time some obscure release comes out,
especially since I'm moving to Boston this summer.

                                            Richie

P.S. If it makes you feel any better, I lost my credit card after buying
LTE and Mike Tramp's album and didn't notice until a week later. During
that time, someone racked up over $300 in fraudulent charges.

Wow, this world is small. Quick story: I'm sitting in philosophy class, Fall of '95 at Hofstra University on LI. Well, I'm wearing one of my DT shirts, and the guy next to me is like, hey, you know DT? He proceeds to tell me that he's good buddies with the new keyboardist, Derek. They play in this cover band around LI locally, just getting together without any rehearsal and having a good time. His name was Chuck, and he was the drummer. Anyway, he ended up getting me backstage passes to one of the Malibu shows, though I never did get to see EM play. Oh well.

I, for one, would never stifle your thoughts. I might question them as I feel I have the right to, especially if they affect me, but never stifle them. They affected me. Equating or hinting at even the remotest of connections between what goes on here with what happened in one of the darkest periods in the history of the human race, makes me ill. This is not reality, that was. Can we please end that as a focus of the thread? I apologize for making a joke at your expense.

Glenn: > I've always been a huge fan of EVH, but someone who goes through life as > coked up as him has a hard time gaining my respect.

As a person or as a musician? Or perhaps both. Just curious :)

Guess a disclaimer is needed: I am in no way advocating the use of cocaine or any other illegal substance for use in enhancing the musical performance or listening experience.

For what little it's worth, my brother is a professional musician, has played with several symphony orchestras, performed at Tanglewood, taught jazz workshops, etc. For the most part I hold his opinion of musicians, and music in general, in pretty high regard (and not just because he is my brother either). We have some common ground in the types of music we like and we also have some major differences :)

He happened to do some composing for Eddie a few years back. He hadn't owned one VH album up to that point! His entire exposure might have been whatever he stumbled upon on the radio. They sent him their entire collection, obviously so that he could familiarize himself with the total VH experience.

I believe his words were 'this guy plays his dick off!' He didn't make a comparison to another musician, didn't need to rank him. He just made the statement in and of itself. There's a lot more to the scene than what you see delivered to you through the media.

Does this mean I think Eddie is the greatest player in the world? Maybe, maybe not, but if I thought he was, so what? If you don't, fine! Do you need to rip my throat out on it, till I bow down, submit, and go "You know, you're right, he does in fact, suck. What the fuck was my lobotomized mind thinking?"

He has soul! For me, emotion is revealed when he plays, and he causes me to feel! He may not have crossed some threshold of technique so many of you require, before you consider them human. I actually think Eddie is a damn good player, though, so bring it on, tough guys :)

You don't see most musicians of class shit on other musicians or make contests out of it like it's a sporting event. Go back and look at JP's response to Blind Melon for the best example I can think of, that's DTC :) Did he return fire? No! That man is a professional! He showed respect for the art form itself and remained centered around the fact that it's the 'music that matters' not the "i don't wank, you fucking drug addict, you can't play your way out of a paper bag"

I'm not saying that you personally were shitting. This is all just a general statement, as there seems to be a lot of putting down of musicians going on lately. The real pros don't need to put others down to raise themselves up. They rise up on their own. DT are pros all the way, #1 on the Billboard Charts or not!!!

    >> Don't bother replying, cos I filter your bullshit straight to the trash >> where it belongs !

    > How can you argue with that? Differing opinions suck. Graham says so.

I can argue with anything, if you haven't figured that out yet. We come from a long line of genetically altered stubborn people, in my family :)

So? He said so. So what? Although I didn't actually see him say so :) He considered the post bullshit. Where's the problem? 'where it belongs' according to him :) Wasn't that obvious? I didn't seem him indicate that that I must do the same. He made his decision based on what appears to be that *he* doesn't like the guy's delivery, not necessarily his opinion. So apparently, he should continue to suffer by reading words which in essence, take a group/musician/whatever that he happens to like a fair amount, and simply spit on them?

There seem to be some who need to reduce a musician to a piece of shit, for whatever reason, maybe just to feel better about the other bands that they claim totally dominate. It actually makes them appear larger than life, when you reduce everything around them down to nothing. I imagine you wouldn't have seen the reaction you saw, had the pitch been delivered differently.

I'm not defending his tactics either, but I can understand why he reacted.

If you don't like something, fine. Show a little respect for those who might. This is 'wide' room. I'm not saying you have to walk on eggshells, but launching an ICBM of opinion and then NOT expecting a reaction, is simply just flying blind. There are actual living, breathing, human beings in here, not sheep who just take whatever you throw at them, no matter how much it upsets them.

Unless, of course, it's a joke, in which case, LOCK N LOAD, baybay !!!!

    > Try them sobber sometime ;)

    hahahahahah *hiccup*

Guess a disclaimer is needed: I am in no way advocating the use of alcohol any other _legal_ substance for use in enhancing the musical performance or listening experience. :)

    Have a nice day,
