I have seen Jean Luc Ponty concert at the Maritime Hall in San Francisco
before. This place IS for all ages but you can show your ID if you want to
drink alcohol. The problem is the tickets for the Maritime Hall ARE NOT
available at BASS. You can buy the tickets at the box office of the
Maritime Hall or at the Border books and music store (music department).
Oh...and this place is general admission and they have seats. I'm not sure
that we can stand to see DT over there though.

Hope they confirm the show at the Maritime Hall. I will be very happy.

    Here is some info if you wanna call them;

    Maritime Hall (415) 974-0634
    450 Harrison & First Street

    Good luck,

<< My Mom heard me listening to DT today (Surrounded) and said "Who's
this?" After I told her, she said "hey, that's pretty good".
She then heard HY, TAMP, WFS, and some of AD and liked all of it!?

Okay, okay...... those are their softie songs you say.
     Here's the kicker....

She listened to all of Metropolis Pt.1, and even said that it was good
as well! Also she listened to JP's long solo (the kinda bluesy one) on
the LiT video (after To Live Forever, I think), and liked that too! >>

There's nothing wrong with that, im sure a lot of the jammers are probably as
old if not older than your mom. hell, my mom listens to dream theater,
queensryche, marillion and some other prog rock, she used to like metallica,
and she still listens to kennyG and maria carey. i think its perfectly
    normal..

    Ahem. Mr. Portnoy. (you listening?)
The tour folks have left a gaping hole in the Midwest. So far that is.
How about Minneapolis/St. Paul? This time around there should be
a large draw locally, as well as a impressive draw from ND. SD. IO.
and WI. I live in a St. Paul eastern suburb, and attended both the
Nov 2 MPLS, and Nov 18 Madison shows. I also met a number
of people that traveled a great distance. I have friends in both Dakotas
that have been bitching that DT has never been there. They also said
that they would be willing to pack up the canoe and travel a few hundred
    miles to see a show.

I got a better idea, You guys can setup in my basement and play.
I fill the fridge with Jag, acquire a great deal of smoke (in case the ru=
    mors
about James are true) Then I will order 5 dozen boxes of doughnuts to
keep the Oakdale Police Dept. at bay. We will invite all the good lookin=
    g
local chicks over so they can weep as Derek plays Rod Stewarts *Do Ya
Think I=92M Sexy* on my daughters 1959 vintage (tube type) Thomas Organ.
After the 3 plus hour show, (hehe) we will hang out and watch *Beavis And
Butthead Do America* and throw darts at my daughters Alanis Morissette
poster. In a well tuned state of mind of course. That would rule!

Ya know what? Your fans RULE!

Dunno, but a lot of people here would probably be keen to know that Roy Khan (formerly of Conception) will be doing vocals for Kamelot now. Everybody I talk to about Conception says that Khan's vocals are the main reason they like the band.

Vinnie sniffled: >~Vinnie mourns the loss of Gary Hoey > to Fender (eek) guitars.

Ah, so you're on the Hoey mailing list too, eh, Vinnie? :) Got my newsletter yesterday and that was the same thing I thought too. "Eek!"

    Hi all,

I am currently in a cybercafe in Manchester (England) about to go to the DT show here tonight.

Last night we went to the show in Wolverhampton, which was excellent.

Setlist included Anna Lee and the LTL/Metropolis medley and when they come to the line " Show me kindness, shom me beauty show me truth", we held aloft the banner my girlfriend and I made which had these words on it - v.cool!

Mike said he "Wanted it!" but we have 3 more show to go (he,he). Mattias, "Our biggest fucking fan, from Germany" - as described by MP, had Happy Birthday sung to him by the whole crowd at MPs request. He was also the 1st of the crowd drummers and was v.good, shame the same can't be said about the second guy...

We wandered in at during the soundcheck as no one was about, and saw them run through a couple of songs but left hastily at the request of the tour manager.

That's all for now, many more adventures to come in the next four days I'm sure!

    Bye,

    Adrian.

The CD Warehouse is a great place for most prog, but if you're specifically looking for Superior or Symphony X (or Conception, anything along that line), I seriously doubt you're going to find it around here. I think your best bet is to get it online. However, I'd be very pleased if someone could prove me wrong.

So you mean, like, you've heard an electric guitar? And bands in Mexico have songs that don't sound like La Bamba? Do you barter with livestock instead of currency? Do you shower regularly? Hehehe I think that's all funny that people would get that impression... but why are YOU knocking Indians? Do they all wear feathers and scalp people for money?

I've heard it will be at the Vic, which I thought would happen, since DT was pissed at the HoB staff, because they fucked up the sound or something... at least that's the rumor that filtered out to the crowd waiting after the show. Plus, in the last Portnoy IRC session, he mentioned the Vic as being one of his favorite venues to play. I love the Vic, because it's convenient for me... but I don't know what makes it awesome to play. Maybe the sound on the stage is great. It's a cool hall and all. And btw, it's almost always all ages. > days before tickets go on sale. Mike Portnoy has semi-confirmed that date > (he himself said that was the *tentative* date for Chicago) so be patient <g>.

The NY date is onsale on the TM site, so some of these are probably set in stone. - Chris

Yeah, I've been to all these places. CD Warehouse has a nice section for Prog, but it seems to be more old-school Prog. No Symphony X, Superior, etc. I just mail-ordered some stuff after looking around for a while. That's the best way to go.
