Regarding _Roll the Bones_ tour bootlegs:
There's a decent one called _Atmospheric_. I have a cassette copy
of it. It's from the Netherlands; I'm not sure which city. I don't
remember the date offhand either. I think it's very hard to find; I've
never seen one besides the copy I dubbed. I know that the label (Crystal
Cat) has a good reputation for their Bruce Springsteen bootlegs.

    WARNING: SPOILER
    >This is the setlist from night #2 of the down under tour. VH is famous
    >for changing the setlist by two or three songs every night, so if you
    >are going to any of the shows the set could be different. This just
    >gives an idea of what to expect. Only one month till they hit the States!!
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

For those (like me) who follow these things, the set list for the
first night was the same, except "Romeo Delight" was played instead of "I'm
    the One."
    (Don't worry, I won't post every night's set list.)

    >Hi, I am the guitarist of a new progressive band out of Boston MA. We
    >are called Meta Section.
A progessive band out of Boston? That I've never heard of? (This
city might not be as bad as I thought. Extreme did come out of here. I'm
sure the _Phoenix_ won't pay any attention to you, though.)
Actually, something much more unlikely would be a progressive band
out of Boston featuring Jeff Falk, which may actually happen very soon. Of
course, the key word is _might_, so don't get too disappointed yet.

Wow, why didn't anyone think of this before.....oh wait..WE HAVE!
every since MTV dropped Hard rock and Heavy metal from the rotation
EVERYONE has been e-mailing their requests but they refuse to listen

and with regards to Jon Oliva being the weak link in Savatage?
please do some research into the band before making some stupid

So please show us your reason for saying that, besides his vocal

    Hi there!

First off (1) I would of course like to express my awe of the Liquid
Tension-album. What a piece! Then (2) I'd like to kindly ask if anyone
really knows the street date of the Sheehan/Sherinian/Howe/etc
project? No one over here can tell, it seems. Also, I haven't really
heard anything on what the lounge version of UaGM really is?!?

    (3) shameless plug: For once, as an old-time-jammer, I'm going to
pollute the list with NDTC and self-indulgence. Please kill me.
Tomorrow night, wed 15 april at 21:00 (9 pm) both my bands, Lord Rosse
and SuperApes, play at the club Studion (S:t Eriksplan 4) in
    Stockholm, Sweden.

    (4) usual disclaimer: "We're not prog so-and-so blah blah". Lord Rosse
is Bowie + Purple + Beatles + Floyd... SuperApes is Hendrix + Verve +
    Miles Davis...

If you happen to be anywhere near, please drop by.

You can visit the Lord Rosse home page at

Well, I have these sounds I recorded from the DTIFC CD...most of them are the guys being really silly (LOTS of Mr. Portnoy!) and goofing off. Is anyone interested in these? I was pondering zipping them up and putting them on my website, but, a) I'm not sure if I'll have enough space, and b) they're in .wav (Windoze) format. I'm using them right now...fun fun fun.

Uhhh, Beavith, how the fuck do we do thith? ;)

Does anyone know if an instrumental show such as the one Mike P. tried to pull of at the Nottingham show will or would ever happen. I'm sure this has been thought about by more people than me and i was just wondering if anything will ever come of it. I agree with the person who stated that they would sell thier soul for that bootleg. And if i am the first person to say something about this then let us all think about it and MAKE IT HAPPEN BABY!!! Well thats all i have to say. Take care all you jammers and keep good music alive!!

Wow, DT had the same lineup as Fates? I was there and didn't even notice.

Divine Regale is a prog metal type band on Metal Blade. Their first cd Horizons may be tough to get but their 2nd Ocean Mind can be found anywhere Metal Blade is sold.

Are there Iowans that are definately going to Chicago on the 13th? I would love to go but I'll have to work the next day so I don't want to have to stay up all night driving back. Ideally there would be somebody wanting to leave from Des Moines about noon on the 13th for Chicago. If somebody's interested in car pooling or something, let me know.

    Greetings ye 'jamanoids...

    Neal remarked:

    >One more comment on LTE...the dropoff towards the end of 3 Minute >Warning is a really big blemish...I wouldn't say it ruins the track but >it's noticeable...is there any reason they couldn't have mixed that part >differently to cover the difference in sound?

This is interesting because I think that's one of the really cool things about that. I played it for my roommate during a long roadtrip; when the sound cut out for a second he looked askance at the CD player, then it cut back in. I had to laugh at the expression on his face; he wanted to know if CD players could eat CDs like tape players eat tapes, because that was what it had sounded like for a second! I explained, and he got this big grin and said that that was the coolest thing he'd heard in a long time. I have to agree -- now, *that* is serious involvement with your music!

Every time I play "Three Minute Warning" I can see Shirley in the booth tearing out his hair because the tape's running out and making frantic gestures at the guys to wind it down, but they just keep ignoring him...hehehehehehehe

    >Another question--why is >it divided up into five different tracks? I don't get the point of >splitting it up like that...any comments?

Probably as a concession to the "musically faint hearted, impatient, or critics of extreme self-indulgence" that they mention on the back of the disc. I imagine they divided it up to make it easier for people to find their favorite parts if they want to listen to only a small piece; a snack, as it were, rather than the whole 5-course meal. :)

Myself, I can't ever listen to it without hearing the whole thing. Like Fates Warning's "Pleasant Shade of Gray" and DT's "Change of Seasons". Something's just missing unless you play the whole thing.

    Ta, Phil

I was wondering if anyone has heard any rumors about possible opening bands for DT's U.S. shows in May. I think that either Enchant or Spock's Beard would be an awesome choice. Both of those bands seem to be horribly under-exposed in the U.S., at least as far as touring goes. Any other thoughts on bands you would like to see open for DT? -Paul

Ok, here's the thing...Mike Bahr creates CDs of rare/live/whatever ->DREAM THEATER<- material. Many people on here buy/have bought/will buy those CDs. Many of those same people felt ripped off or whatnot; this was an issue that needed to be addressed. I agree that it went on awfully long, and I'm glad it's over, but it was an important issue, related indirectly to Dream Theater and directly to their fans. I for one am thankful to see people on here looking out for other fans by letting them know what's going on and addressing timely, important issues. And, no matter what you say, this was timely and important. Therefore, your caps-lock-happy post was much more of a worthless waste of space than the Bahr thread was. >Dick, I wasn't trying to sound angry or critical by having my caps-lock on. Its just a habit I have. And I know who Mike Bahr is and I know how he is involved with the imports, etc. My point was simple, as you admitted yourself, the point was overstressed that he needed to make changes in his business to better satisfy his customers. It should have been said once and then "hey, lets move on to more important things." As for my message being pointless, tell me how countless bitches about Mike Bahr have importance to this posting.

Well, it won't be Spock's, which is good, cause I'd fail all my classes this semester if it were. (I've seen DT like 8 times, and have yet to see SB. You do the math.) Enchant would be an equally cool selection.

As much as I dig RMP, I've seen them open for DT 3 times now. Time for something else. How about Haji's, or Finneus Gauge, or BLUE? Those would be cool as shit.
