True, but not overly difficult. I'm doing much the same thing with my
band project. I found a place (many places, actually) that would print up
500 CD's for around $1500-$2000, including films, booklets, etc., from a
master CD-R and computer disks with PageMaker files on them. Record at
home into my computer (the best and nearly only way for me to record),
work with Deck II and SoundEdit until I feel I've done my best to make the
music sound good, burn it onto CD-R, send a Zip Disk with my PageMaker
files, and viola, instant album.
..yeah, easy... suuuure! ^_^

hehehe thanks Rogerio. I don't think I'd seen that one. I'll be using that
one. ;)
As for the grammar crap, I think it's ok if you use apostrophes after
acronyms, although I usually don't. What bugs me is when people use them in
"Sandwiche's" "ball's and chunk" and "Verisimilitude's." There are a huge
amount of people that think that whenever you add an "s" you have to add an
apostrophe too. Not to mention the people that can't spell "lose" but
that's a whole different subject.

RIP my lil' Stevie...
oct 95' - april 20th 1998
Today I lost one of my guitars.. actually my only acoustic..a little
cheap ($250) acoustic Ibanez , who i had named lil' stevie because Vai
had signed it back when he came here on a guitar clinic. It was a freak
accident involving my mom... i had my guitar on a guitar stand, next to
a sofa on our den... then disaster stroke.. my mom sat on the
sofa..which in turn slid down..and knocked my guitar down to the
floor...at first i said.. " hey.. its only a little fall.. ill have to
re-tune it".. but when my mom checked it.. the part that holds the
tuners ( headstock?) had broken in half.. ( dont ask me how ) .. now i
have to.. either replace the neck... or buy me another guitar.. thing
is.. it split right where vai's signature is/was... ):

Heh, those tunes are wimpy compared to The Mirror, and Metropolis... I don't
think DT tried to be metal at all on FII... BMS I would say is the heaviest
on FII... plus, they got rid of the nice crunch. :)

Sorry, I know I'm a little behind on the Pink Floyd thread. But I can't believe that in all those posts, no one mentioned "The Final Cut" as a Pink Floyd essential. I rank that one right behind the two obvious choices, Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall. It is practically a Roger Waters solo album, but it is still amazing, both musically and lyrically. (And just to let you know, I love the post-Waters stuff too -- The Division Bell is great!)

I thought I remembered someone about a year ago mentioning that Petrucci was working with Ibanez on putting a piezo into his guitars (for his use...not commercial). But I never heard anything more about it. Does anybody know if that ever came about?
And are there any guitar players (on the Jam) that use electrics with piezos. I've been thinking about buying one (Carvin, Godin, or Hamer), but wasn't sure if "the best of both worlds" ended up by "compromising both worlds." Does the electric still have the same bite?
I've also been thinking of just building an electric guitar and adding a piezo.
In prog music, it just seems like that would be an ideal guitar to use on stage. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Hello all- I'm very excited cuz my friend and I ordered our DT tickets today, and sealed the fate of our road-trip. We will be attending to the shows in Detroit and Chicago. It's only the two of us, so we can stand in line for hours on end to get front row. Speaking of which, for you people who have been at the front of the line, how early did you get in line?? Josh and I will be traveling over 1000 mi. to see DT (round trip) what is the farthest anyone is going to see them, I know someones gotta beat 1000. Also, if you wait after the show to get stuff signed, how long does it take for the band to come out?? I think I'll get my fan club photo signed, then I can frame it:) Ony problem is that we have to drive back to school all night after the chicago show in order to make classes at 10:00 the next morning. Oh well...

Hey, all! I just had to reply to some of the threads on the 'jam lately. First thing's first. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MIKE!! Can't wait to see you guys in Texas!
Then Carol wrote, > How many Birthday spankings is that Mr. Portnoy????I'm not gonna touch that one. ;)
Texas shows: Woo! Looks like Dallas is confirmed (as per the Bronco Bowl web site). No ticket info. yet, but I'll keep checking and post again Wed. or Thurs.
Grammar: OK, I thought we hashed and re-hashed (ad nauseum) this topic into the ground a few months/years back. But since Brian asked, >Is there a shortage of copy editors?Nope. I'm here. I'm gainfully employed (got my formal offer today with a software company effective one month after I graduate, which is May 16). According to my grammar book, acronyms and abbreviations that are pluralized do NOT need apostrophes. For example, CDs, CDRoms, and 1980s. However, apostrophes may be used when refering to letters or when periods are in the abbreviation. For example, two n's and four s's or several V.I.P.'s.
However, Brian then wrote "email," and that's supposed to be "e-mail." But, I mean, really. Who cares? I care when I'm at my job, but I don't think ppl need to be critiqued on their grammar skills when they're e-mailing people. Oh, and "ebonics" does not mean "without grammar rules."
DT Metal vs. Prog: I'm more fond of the prog side of it, but I would prefer to hear a good mix of both. If that can't happen, bring on da prog, baybee!
Erica wrote, >OH! OH!! PETRUCCI!!! PETRUCCI!!!ROTFLTIPO!! (Carol's coinage) If you're not gonna put that on your banner, can I put it on mine? ;)

Hello all :) I came up with a little way us as jammers around the world can give a present to Mike Portnoy for his B-day...a Web B-day card! I made a little card up, and anyone who wants can sign it and add their own comments to it can at:

For Mike and anyone who would like to view it you can at:
http://www.futureone.com/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/ryan/guestbook.cgi
It's pretty much just a simple guestbook so its nothing fancy but does the job :)

Very enlightening, Mrs. McWatters. :) (Seriously). I always learned that it was necessary to use apostrophes when you were pluralizing acronyms...
BTW, once and for all, could you people recommend me a grammar book? I think that it's time to read some rules. I mean, I want the real thing, a grammar which I can always refer to, a good reference. Thank you for any recommendations.

All they show is fuckin' rap videos! Ten minute fuckin' long rap videos about a bunch of black people having SEX! I dunno, personally, I think there's more to life than watching black people have sex on TV. Oh yeah, they promote racist motherfuckers like me, pigeonholing said racial groups by only airing black rap videos and white rock videos...or maybe I'm reading too closely between the lines, but it's a conspiracy I tell you....
