you mean unforgiven II? uf II is the same chords as ftb, only in Eb. or did
they reuse the exact same progression TWICE on the same album? i don't
remember the chord progression of memory remains. moo.

ok, I guess they asked to the record label if they could do the rush project and liquid tension, but I have a question here.... what's the deal with the albums that are for the fan club? are they released under the record label, are they allowed to release them or do they have to ask everytime they want to release something even for the fan club? --- Alan Estrada Adler http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/2025 "You've got your whole life to write your first album, and six months to do your next." I second this motion. Got myself the disc in the mail today and gave it a listen -- excellent quality throughout, both in the selection of songs and their sound (though there's a bit of difference from track to track, I'd rate it as "excellent" overall). And then there's the price -- $10, and I live overseas (checked out the postage and, assuming a 5 franc for 1 US dollar exchange rate, came out to nearly $6, meaning only $4 is made per disc (losing money, my guess, but it's an introductory offer)). Separated by the Atlantic Ocean, I still got my boot only a few weeks after sending in payment. That's service!

Anyhow, as a summary, I can think of no complaints with the new OAN release, "Into The Great Unknown". QED, you should buy it.

Excuse me, can we get an *AMEN* to that? : )

Im not sure how you got into Pantera from this list, but they do rock, nonetheless. If it werent for the Jam, I wouldnt know about Superior or Angra, two of my favorite bands right behind DT (and of course Greenday and Bush).

I just absolutely worship my behind. ... ... ... Uh, I mean, you know, the Superior disc... : )

Another thing I was thinking is that Enchant's Wounded is kind of a let down. I had ABoTW a while before Wounded, maybe thats the reason I dont like their second disk as much, but it just doesnt do it for me...The lyrics to the first song are just cheesy as hell.

I've heard extremely little Marillion (and I didn't like what I did hear), so I personally can not make that comparison. Also, I've never heard any Gentle Giant, but everyone and their brother compares SB to them.

What I can tell you is that they don't sound like DT, because they're not that heavy. There are many parallels to be drawn with Yes -- mainly because of the keyboard sounds, like real Mellotrons and real Hammonds, but also because of the sheer length of some of their songs. The music sounds very happy and radio-friendly a lot of the time, with some of the most beautiful melodies I've heard in a damn long time, and they often perfectly complement some really bitter, cynical lyrics ("We made a world where crap is king, and the good don't last too long").

Their first album, "The Light," is arguably the most "prog," because it has two 20+ minute songs and lots of proggy noodly bits, while the latest one, "The Kindness of Strangers," has three 10+ minute songs which somehow seem more... focused. My personal preference is "TKoS" just because it's so damn well produced, not to mention a little tighter arrangement-wise. (It's also got "June," one of the most beautiful songs ever written, period.) The live one doesn't have any non-album tracks, but the live version of "Go The Way You Go" is worth the price of admission.

For the past three days I've had the three studio albums in the changer on random, and as a result I've been happier, more playful, and had a shinier coat and wetter nose. Your mileage may vary, but in my absolutely objective opinion, "Spock's Beard rox my nutz!" -d

You know how most of the time the first album you hear from a band tends to be your favorite? Well, I heard "Wounded" first, and I like "Blueprint" a whole lot more. The songs on "Wounded" just aren't as powerful. Like you said, Jon, the music is still great, but the lyrics leave a lot to be desired.

Opinion question: Is Enchant's "Fade 2 Grey" just a pale imitation of Rush's "I Think I'm Going Bald"? (I think I already know the result of this one.)

I concluded that the following post:

Deserves a special responce. Actually, Dr. Mosh almost pined it down. Don't read on if explitives offend you, but they are quite needed to discover the true nature and beauty of the responce to this post.

    And I quote:

    "F%ck you! You motherf%ckin c$ck suckin @ss lickin sh!t lovin bitch."

I had to to take the precaution of removing a few vowels, but I hope everyone gets the picture. :)

You could actually just post this acronim(sp) the next time some post of this disturbing nature comes along. :)

MP might subscribe to this mailing list, DUH. But he's not an idiot like the obvious kids in this list are. Unfortunately, those of you making the stabs at others, and being racists etc, will NEVER see how foolish you are.

This is/was a DT/Bands mailing list. . .Not romper room. I'd like to think MP thinks about as much of you racists as I do. I'd even be willing to bet on it.

No, I'm not requesting a response from MP. I can't believe I'm still talking about this myself. I'd bet 95% of the 26+ year old crowd in this list agrees. Given those that have grown up. :)

I've been following DT's music since I heard them the first time in 1993, but this mailing list isnt full of the ppl that I'm MORE THAN SURE DT would associate themselves with. Hell, if this was out in the open for the Press to see, hahah I'm sure DT would steer MORE than clear from many of the lame, childish, racists remarks I've seen posted by some of you.

As I stated in my first post. . .Those of you that are pissed off right now and reading this, and are going to reply with some lame flame. . .Stop for one second and think about how mature what you are going to type, really is. Think about it. Hell, go ask one of your parents, go ask ANY adult, I'm willing to bet I'm more than right.

I'm sure there is some racist newsgroup you can join, but this is not the place and I think its sad that DT has it's name tagged onto such a place.

Sure sure... everyone on this list has been DT fans since Portnoy's been in Rising Power and James was part of Winter Rose.

Yes, this is a DT list, ran by DT, or haven't you noticed it's ran by the fans? We're only racist to the stupid race, I see you are the prime ambassador thus far.
