Yep. It's supposed to have that really abrupt ending.

Are you kidding? The biggest kick I'd ever get is if Mike himself chose to
flame this asshole and he then posted that to the jam! That would rock!
What I'm really waiting for is the 500-line post from Chris Ptacek
explaining to HazeX why he is an immature, ignorant, stupid and annoying
asshole, which will be explained in such a complete and logical way that
there is no way Hazex will be able to counter-argue :-) But I guess Chris
has better things to do, and I can't blame him....
Hey, I entered Itchy's Under a Cyber Moon today (the BEST DT site out
there), and I couldn't help notice, besides the fact that it was chosen as
the CDNow Cool Cosmic Site of the Week (whatever that means), Itchy put the
sublte message "no Sony equipment was used to build this site". I cracked up=
:-)
I'm outta here.
Christian.

Caravan of Dreams now has DT listed on their website:
http://www.caravanofdreams.com/events.htm
Tickets are $22 and they go on sale Friday, May 1. It's a General Admission
show.
The show is Sat, May 23.
Opening band is listed as:
Full on the Mouth (Never heard of them.)
I'd advise buying tickets quick. The place is small and I don't think it
can hold more than about 300 people.
If anybody is coming in from out of town and needs tickets, I can buy them
and mail them to you - since they won't be available from Ticketmaster.
Just e-mail me.
You can probably also charge them by phone and have them as 'will call'
tickets.

Hey fellow jammers!
Just downloaded Cover my Eyes, and I am literally blown away! This song is really great!! IMHO, this song is a cooler song than Burning my Soul, and I think that DT could have put CmE on FII instead of BmS. What do you guys out there think about this?
NOTE: I'm not saying that BmS is not a great song! After all, it is made by Gods, but so is also CmE, and I just think that song is better.
I also think that CmE sounds just a tiny bit influenced by Extreme, Waiting For The Punchline era. What are your views on this? BTW, does anyone know anything of a relationship of any kind between DT and Extreme? I know that DT played a part from Cupid's Dead in the middle of Metropolis on one concert on the Fix For 97 tour. Does anyone know of similar incidents? Juz courious...
Have a nice day!

The band "Full on the Mouth" will be opening for this leg of the tour - no locals or anything of that nature I gather.
I'll post some information on the band in a bit....
BTW, this information is brought to you through sheer deduction, considering they are opening in all the NY/NJ/Philly venues, as well as those mentioned here on the 'Jam.

I got a CD once that was supposed to be a compilation of the best of Bernstein's West Side Story and Porgy and Bess...
Turned out to be a recording of Igor Stravinsky's Petrushka...Strange. Even the CD was printed with WSS and PB stuff on it.
And I think PMU sounds great the way it is. And live it does make more sense, who ever said that.

Go to http://www.rsabbs.com/dt/. Click on "What's New". What's the very first thing we see? A lengthy email from Mike Portnoy explaining the reasons for cancellation of the Nottingham gig. This appeared on the official site within a couple of hours of it leaving Mike's computer.
Let's also have a look at the Tour Dates section . . . hmmm. These are all also direct reproductions of Mike's emails.
With the possible exception of the "merchandise" section, ALL recent updates on the site come from Mike Portnoy's email. Look harder, Graham. :-)
> How you can say they do a good job is beyond me, quite frankly you the > only > person I have come in contact with who has a good word to say about > rabbs.
I'll try to explain. Firstly, I agree with you about Under A Cyber Moon - it is an outstanding site, brilliantly designed, and full of useful information. It is one of the sites I visit most.
BUT (and this is a big but) not all of the information on UACM comes from an official source, and this is why I think it's good that RSABBS are much more selective about what they post. The official site exists to provide only information which is received through official channels (i.e. band members or management).
> Lets have a look at all these alleged 'rumours' in the news at UACM > 'Age Of Impact' tracklisting > 16 page supplement in Italian magazine > 'Images and Words' with AC/DC music > etc. etc, blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh > Seems to be more than rumours, which is more than in the rabbs site.
Yes, these are more than just rumours. But, if the people at RSABBS haven't been informed about any of this by DT or their management, then they shouldn't post it on the official site. This site serves as an official mouthpiece for DT, and as such it would be wrong for RSABBS to start putting words into DT's collective mouth.
They post whatever they get direct from DT. Exactly the way it should be.
> Most people I have talked to think that UACM should be the official site > anyway....
Possibly. :-)

I ordered this disc about two weeks ago, and it came yesterday. Pretty quick turnaround time, considering it went from Alabama to the land of parlez-vous and back. Anyway, the DT tracks sounded really good (even though Derek fucked up in a pretty hilarious way after JP's immaculate solo in UaGM). The only drop in quality was during the Vanden Plas tracks (I think, but I'm at school, so I don't have the disc with me) and during one of the acoustic tracks. Even on these tracks, though, it still sounds like a really good audience tape. The best tracks (DT and Megadeth) had me wondering whether they were soundboard or not.
Anyway, I'm expecting some fine releases from Felix in the future, based on this disc he sent me. He had to have lost money on this - silver/blue CD-R, sharply printed (in color, too) label on the disc itself, and what looks like professionally printed, glossy liners.
Take care, Mark Peters swifty@auburn.net
PS - I'm in the process of archiving all of my guitar and bass tabs from guitar mags I've been getting since the mid/late 80's. If anyone might be interested in helping me to fill in the gaps either by trading or scanning/printing, I'll give you the URL to see my list.

OK, they have a website with short samples http://www.fullonthemouth.com
For those lazy people, here's their bio. Tell me if I'm the only one getting douche chills after reading it.
INSERT BIO
Flint, Michigan never used to be a rock and roll town. While big brother Detroit has seen its share of guitar fuzz over the years, Flint's major contribution to the rock mantle thus far has been Grand Funk Railroad. Not bad, but certainly not new. But for Flint natives, Grant Mohrman, Dwight Mohrman and Andy Barancik, rock music has provided endless inspiration and given them the solid foundation to delve into a whole new universe of sound.
FULL ON THE MOUTH is their vehicle into worlds where the familiarity of manic guitar intensity meets the rising, yet still vastly unexplored electronic landscape.
FULL ON THE MOUTH (originally known as Lost Tribe) was formed eight years ago, brandishing a ferocious rock edge that helped them to climb the ladder of local notoriety. Their early works were chock full of overdriven guitars and pounding rhythms, a sound that would later find success in the mainstream. "We didn't realize that we really had that whole 'Seattle sound' thing going before it exploded," notes Grant. "One day I saw one of those bands on MTV and was totally floored."
With a sound that predated popularity, the band simply forged ahead and evolved further with no regard for anything except pushing the proverbial envelope a bit to make the best music they could.
A hard-driving live schedule and a love for new sounds were constant companions of the band for the next several years. The love for their craft is evident. At one point, the band was without a drummer for over a year and was having a very apparent hard time finding a new one. As if nothing was askew, they continued practicing on a regular basis with a drum machine. "Sometimes I look back and think, 'Why didn't we just quit?'" jokes Dwight. When most would have thrown in the towel, the band used the opportunity to branch out even further.
Aside from becoming comfortable with an electronic presence in their music (via said drum machine), an ear for electronic sounds was burgeoning within the band. Grant, a noted studio musician who recently performed on the Republica single "Ready To Go", was paying the bills by working in a local recording studio where he was unwittingly exposed to some of electronica's roots. A co-worker named Blumpy (a well-known programmer and re-mixer who has worked with artists such as Filter, Henry Rollins and My Life with the Thrill Kill Cult) was a big fan of early '80s synth-pop bands like Depeche Mode and obsessively played it during business hours. "I used to hate that stuff, but after a while, I could at least appreciate where it was coming from," says Grant.
Grant's consistent exposure to the early forays into electronic music eventually lead him to jump in feet first, developing a deep appreciation for the genre and discovering seminal bands like Pop Will Eat Itself. A close friendship with Blumpy ensued and he was invited into the studio with the band to inject some audio manipulations into FULL ON THE MOUTH's driving rock core. Everyone involved was awestruck by the mix and Blumpy was made a full-time participator in the creation of Collide and served as the album's producer.
While digital sounds are heavily incorporated into the FULL ON THE MOUTH sound, Grant and Dwight acknowledge dichotomy between the wide terrain of electronic music and its limitations. "I really enjoy a lot of it," notes Grant. "But I don't know how long this fascination with cool electronic textures can last. It's a good song that becomes a classic and when you hear these new 'electronica' bands ten years from now, they're going to sound ten years old. On the other hand, there are a lot of great songs from ten years ago that sound totally fresh today." "For us, it all comes down to the songs," says Dwight.
While the band's frenetic live shows cast them as local favorites, a cassette release that sold a total of over 4,000 copies helped to spread the word beyond their immediate area. In 1996, a cassette that included 'Rainbow' reached the ears of a Michigan commercial radio station who took a chance and added it to their rotation. It clicked with listeners and within two months ended up being one of the five most requested songs of the year. Pioneer Music Group (the new label formed by audio giant Pioneer Electronics) took note of the ground-swell and made FULL ON THE MOUTH their very first signing.
Collide is an apt title for their debut. The sound clash between the organic and the electronic has yielded eleven songs that cater to neither the mosh pit nor the dance floor, but could easily find acceptance with both. The first single 'People Mover' (mixed by Ben Grosse of Filter fame) utilizes a techno-styled groove that rumbles underneath huge rock hooks. "Rainbow" has heavy dance undertones with soaring vocals that lead to a driving finish, while the humongous bottom end of "Waiting" shakes the foundations of its irresistable chorus.
With eight years of hard rock experience underneath them and unlimited sonic sky above, FULL ON THE MOUTH is ready for just about anything. "From here on out, I feel like the possibilities are endless," says Grant. Prepare yourself. There may be the rare crowning of a great rock band in Flint this year.

Should be an interesting topic of discussion on here now, especially after y'all take a gander at their samples...........

A friend of mine once bought Billy Joel's two-disc greatest hits album. Disc I was fine, but Disc II was actually the Forest Gump soundtrack. She listens to that more than she listens to the Billy Joel disc.

Very well said Matt. I think that this list is a great source of information on DT, DT like bands and sometimes other bands in general. Also we've discussed hardware (CD-RW, CD-R), software, etiquette (both net and concert), and whever else someone feels like posting. Aside from some pretty mindless flame wars (there were some decent flame wars) this list is by far one of the most interesting to read.

rsabbs site/UACM:
i personally like the UACM site better (congrats on your site award). just on site design alone its set up so much nicer, everytime i hit rsabbs and get that HUGE image map i find myself muttering "hurry UP" the whole time its loading. it is nice to have an "official" site though for the reasons one of them grahams listed.
(btw you grahams suck. i cant even refer to you as graham x and graham y a la those two spice girls because you both have B as your last initial. ; )
weird cd purchases:
ive bought one cd that i discovered after opening the shrink wrap at home had no cd in it. also my copy of tori amos' under the pink has some of the insert pages stapled in the wrong order AND upside down.
what ytsecontent should be:
i dont see anything wrong with what gets posted here. if something doesnt hold your interest just scroll down. its not that hard. im involved in an aol area about tori that is very active in number of daily postings, with a group dynamic very similar to the jam's and from time to time new people show up and inevitably bitch about content not being 100% tori related. good god, how many times can you rehash the same shit over and over? "ok were going to all say how incredibly talented dream theater is AGAIN, were going to analyze <insert song> AGAIN.........". you just have to keep reading and learn the way the group works. expecting an established group to change the dynamic to suit your own personal desires is the ultimate in nerve IMO. the greatest thing about this list as a musician is there are so many of your peers here with such different backgrounds and knowledge, you can always learn something. its a nice theory refresher for me a lot of the time (that pitch axis stuff that was just discussed for example). or music recommendations, or gear related questions, etc. yall did make me feel like i screwed up though, as just about every piece of electronic equipment i own is sony. =)
ok enough from me. ~melissa~ madsag@aol.com
