Well, I'm also quite impatient because I (and many others) want to see
DT perform in Mexico City!!!, about 1 month ago a radio station transmitted
an interview with JP and he said they would come to Mexico, but when?,
I say DT should plan a big tour in all the latin american countries they have
never been, I know this may not be easy for them but, can we fans do
something so DT will come to our countries?, if so, I would like to know what.

Yeah, what about Mexico-along-with-Texas DT tour? I read yasterday in the
newspaper that YES is going to play a show here in Monterrey in May 28 or
so. If Yes is playing here, why isnt DT?
C mon guys, it s about time that you tour central and south america!

It was mentioned priorly on the 'Jam, like probably late-94 or
early-95 that DT was influenced to make the three-part piece A
Mind Beside Itself (Eroto, Voices, TSM) based partly on loving
what Extreme did with the IIIrd Side's Everything Under the Sun
three-piece song. Something along the lines of "we listened to
the IIIrd Side over and over again on our tour bus." At least
they have an admiration for Extreme...

does, Pacbell will term his account. Those of you that are in ACK mode,

His antics may be amusing, but forwarding private e-mail to a public

Everyone who is bitching about the unrelated topics here should subscribe to another, more "related" list, and then think twice about whether or not he or she really minds the "unrelated" topics. I know I'm gonna get flamed for this, but, I get one of the Nirvana mailing lists, and there are exactly two topics that are ever discussed: 1) Which bootleg recording contains the best version of "Come as You Are", and 2) Whether Kurt was murdered or actually did kill himself. Oh, yeah...there was another discussion...whether or not a flanger pedal was used on a certain guitar solo. :-] After reading that list a few times, I really appreciated the level of intelligence on the jam. (well, for the most part, anyway :-] ). Thanks for making this kick ass list so fuckin fun to read. Oh, yeah...I almost forgot....HazeX is a jerk! chris

Lord Have Mercy!!! The price to pay for getting to the show early for a good spot is going to be steep!!! I just checked out the .wav files from their Web site and I'm still retching. Even given the understandably lo-fi quality of the samples, I think the parts of the songs I heard totally SUCKED!! Also, I got to Vanderbilt's late and missed who the opener for that show was, although I did see DT members jam with them for the finale. Can anyone tell me who they were (the opening band that is)? The sound quality is comparable to "Lost in the Sky", IMO. :-) > Whether Kurt was murdered or actually did kill himself. Now that I'm running the Nectar mailing list, I see some people asking the others (including myself -- how dare they?!) to be on-topic. I was never on topic for my whole life. If you ever had a conversation with me (Cassiano and Marcelo know this), you'd know that I usually don't complete my sentences. I almost always stop the sentences I'm saying without ever ending them, because I usually change the subject "on-the-fly".

And they ask me to keep me on topic. :-)

I don't wanna be a baby about this but I think I had that on UACM like five minutes after Mike pressed the [send] button. Same goes for the tour info, if I get it while I'm online.

    > BUT (and this is a big but) not all of the information on UACM comes > from an official source, and this is why I think it's good that RSABBS

Maybe I should mention that I never add rumours to UACM. The only information that goes on the site *without* hesitation comes from Mike Portnoy, Derek Sherinian, record labels, official websites & fanzines, musicians who are involved in DT related side projects, and interviews given by band members.

I almost never add information I get from the Ytsejam or the news group without verifying it first. And I used the word "almost" as a disclaimer... Hell, I even emailed ProMark back in December, to verify the information someone posted about a ProMark Collector's Edition CD with a Portnoy drum solo... Running an unofficial site like UACM means always having to look out for bogus information & rumours. Over the last year, I've gotten pretty good at that. ;-) Knowing that the site now gets over 600 visits a day, keeps me on my toes too.

    > Yes, these are more than just rumours.

I'm glad we agree on that. :-)

    > But, if the people at RSABBS haven't been informed about any of > this by DT or their management, then they shouldn't post it on > the official site.

Who says RSABBS hasn't been informed ? And why would they have to depend on the band for all the info, when they can get it from so many other sources (like I do). I am not trying to bash RSABBS... All I have to say is that it would make a GREAT fanpage, but it's not doing much for the band as an official site. This is actually the very reason why I always try to have the latest info on UACM.

The samples on their page are interesting, but again, I think they're gonna get the Big Wreck response or worse. They don't posess the virtuosity that so many DT fans require in order for a band to be considered "cool." I think they're be worth a listen, but I doubt that I'll be convinced to go buy their album and learn all the tunes. Big Wreck at least had some intricate guitar work. This is more of a groove thing. I wouldn't bet that DT chose these dudes... but try to give em a fair shake... keep an open mind.

    >BUT (and this is a big but) not all of the information on UACM comes from >an official source, and this is why I think it's good that RSABBS are much >more selective about what they post. The UACM info is EXACTLY as official as RSABBS. Itchy is frequently CC:'d on the update messages that go to RSABBS. Itchy does not EVER put up erroneous information and call it the real thing... he's more up to date on the rumors, but calls them rumors. He's more up to date on the fan related stuff, but that's the kind of thing where Portnoy is no better a source than you are. In all, Itchy HAS everything that RSABBS has, and then has added worlds worth of stuff that RSABBS ignores. Plus, the site is so much faster and easier to navigate... there's just no competition.

    >Yes, these are more than just rumours. But, if the people at RSABBS >haven't been informed about any of this by DT or their management, then

    >they shouldn't post it on the official site. This site serves as an= official >mouthpiece for DT, and as such it would be wrong for RSABBS to start= putting >words into DT's collective mouth.

What's wrong with taking a greater role in the realm of the fans? As long as these things ARE rumors, and are called rumors, there's no harm. Remember, DT doesn't necessarily have time to update the RSABBS page with every minute thing. Itchy has found time to do just that, and he's doing it for free.

    >Speaking of the RSabbs site sucking, why don't we do some kind of petition= to >try to get them to Make UACM the "official" site. I'm sure Mike would at >least entertain the idea

I would say "Petition" is a bad word here now. Don't "cry wolf" too often if you want it to be heard. Mike reads this list, and I think Derek may as well. They have all seen the pages. Itchy has let them know that he's willing and interested. Just sit back and watch what happens. I also think it's kind of amusing to see that all of the recent RSABBS updates have occurred shortly after Itchy wrote Mike and Derek. Maybe the guys are kicking the web page into shape after all.

    >FULL ON THE MOUTH (originally known as Lost Tribe) was formed >eight years ago, brandishing a ferocious rock edge that helped them to >climb the ladder of local notoriety. "We didn't realize that we really had that >whole 'Seattle sound' thing going before it exploded," notes Grant. "One >day I saw one of those bands on MTV and was totally floored."=20

Could that be the LAST thing that members of this list want to see? The opening band for DT is one of those "We were grunge before grunge was cool" type bands? FOTM will probably be stunned to learn that grunge never was cool, to most people on this list,
