Hi there!
Don't want to spoil anything, but...
Couldn't it be that LTE is a CDNOW bestseller for weeks now just because
you don't get it anywhere else because of MC's bad distribution?
Or that DT's on the top of UBL's list because everyone's in panic and wants
to know why, when, and where they split up? (No, they didn't!)
Just a thought, prove me wrong.
Steffen

I will come to USA for a year and that I like music very much. Now that I have about 400 CD's I don't want to part with all. I want to take some, but I have to be careful about weight and space, Is their a concept somebody had good experience with?? Also, apart from the stunt guitarist (I guess you have) who has tried to play the key intro on guitar?? Schnipp

This is pure bullshit. You are saying the whole cd sounds like Pearl Jam, Nirvana, or whoever? You really have no clue. If Pearl Jam, Nirvana, etc sounded like FII I'd be a fan of alternative. Alas, alternative sounds nothing like FII. FII is not alternative.
> > Falling Into Infinity is the worst DT album. Here in German magazins > it becomes the lowest notes, Dream Theater ever have become. > Actually, I'm in more than 6 maling lists and every one is flaming > about Dream Theater's > SELL OUT WITH FALLING INTO INFINITY and that's the truth.
Its too bad that you are on this list.

I dont think DT wanted to be AC/DC and put out the same album everytime. Sorry.
> > The same gose to Rush. In the 70's they've made great music. In the > 80's they went > to radio commercial songs. In the 90's (Test For The Echo) they went > alternative.
If Rush and DT were so alternative, they would be on the radio and on eMpTyV all the time, but if you had a clue, you would know that they are not on the radio or eMpTyV all the time.

Hey, dont rag on Damon...
> What about if Rush will play on a Nirvana tribute ?
It would never happen.
> > You are not a Progressive Metal fan, you are a Dream Theater fan. > You will buy all their records and will love it only because it's > Dream Theater.
Do you know anything about Adam? All he was saying is that since DT came along, a lot of bands hopped on the bandwagon, and some of them have DT as an influence and they may try to sound like DT but can't really come close.
> My brother Arash has the Japan version of Falling Into ... and the > bonus CD > has the song "Speak To Me". Man, suck this song or what ?
Sorry, I dont suck songs.
> This is the worst song I've ever heard from a prog metal band. > I can't belive Mike Portnoy plays on this song.
DT has never said they were a prog metal band. They are a metal band first. Their influences include Kansas, Rush, Yes, Metallica, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Zeppelin, etc... Portnoy is a big fan of Zappa. All these bands are not prog metal and in fact most of them aren't even metal.
> U2 + alternative = Speak To Me > Bon Jovi + alternative = You Not Me > Elton "GAY" John + Beatles = Anna Lee > Metalica + Pink Floyd = Preuvien Skies > Alternative + hard rock = Cover My Eyes
Can you say "asshole"?

You can compare anything you want. I enjoy DT's slow songs. That is what separates them from a lot of other bands. It isn't one huge power chordfest. > > Bands like Empty Tremor, Power Of Omen or Symphony X are making much > better music > than Falling Into Infinity.
your opinion

You just seem to be in love with Empty Tremor. I guess you love Hanson as well...

Are their any differences in the two different versions of Twilight In Olympus? CD NOW lists a normal version for something like $25 and a Japanese version for well over $30... Bonus tracks?

It is one thing to say an opinion but to revert to slamming the band that this list is here for just because someone said something negative about a band of teenagers that he is in love with, is just way out of line.

Bonus tracks? No, the songs are all the same on both versions. The only difference is that the Japanese version has a paper cover embracing the jewel case (sorry, don`t know what it`s called in English), and the cd comes along=20 with a Sy X postcard and a Sy X sticker.

Yuppers! He's right! We also had a chance to listen to another soon to be released CD...um, uh, something by the name of Tyranny? And the new Dali's Dilema: Manifesto for Futurism has just replaced it as my carry everywhere, play it at work and drive my co-workers crazy, CD! I played that thing over and over and over yesterday. Look Out World and get in line now to buy this cd when it's released.

Hey all,
Here is the set list from Hampton Beach, NH on August 4, 1998:
ACOS I - The Crimson Sunrise / ACOS II - Innocence Puppies on Acid / Just Let Me Breathe New Millennium 6:00 Under a Glass Moon Hollow Years keyboard solo (Tarkus) / Lines in the Sand Caught In a Web / drum solo Peruvian Skies (Have a Cigar / Enter Sandman) / guitar solo (Paradigm Shift / Flight of the Bumblebee) Pull Me Under --encore-- Metropolis I / Learning To Live / ACOS VII - The Crimson Sunset (A Fortune in Lies teaser at end)
The running time for the show was approximately 110 minutes. ------------------------------- Now...
In response to the 525 ytse-Damon-jam digests I've received in the past week:
Damon - As the old quote goes, "Words must be weighed, not counted." I understand you have a lot to contribute to the 'jam. But, at the same time, you must realize that not everyone wants to read a jam with 20 posts from Damon, and 1 from the other 2,000 jammers out there.
Ashourihas - As James LaBrie says on the DTIFC 1997 CD in the right channel during the Burning My Soul vocal tracks, "Take your thoughts and your words and shove them where the sun don't shine... ahhhhh ... you fuckin'
bastards".
I think you two should change your web site title to:
CHOKE ON A BIG FAT DICK AND DIE - The Close Minded Music Page
I normally don't like to flame other jammers, but sometimes I can't tolerate your bullshit. I know I'm speaking for a lot of jammers in saying that.
Now, to flame you two without the unnecessary swearing:
Arash said: >You hear inteligent music and thinks that makes you an inteligent >person. If it's so, please don't start a flame war eveytime someone >has other opinions that you. That's life.
Yes, it is okay to have different opinions, but it's the way that you two convey your opinions that pisses everyone off on this list.
And, you're somewhat hypocritical about saying "You hear intelligent music and you think that makes you an intelligent person." because you appear more than ready to criticize someone for not listening to only progressive metal or progressive rock. You guys have to stop thinking that "Simple music is for simple people." It's not. Instead, you should have the mindset: "All music is for all people." Because it is.
Arman said: >You are not a Progressive Metal fan, you are a Dream Theater fan. >You will buy all their records and will love it only because it's >Dream Theater. My brother Arash has the Japan version of Falling >Into ... and the bonus CD has the song "Speak To Me". Man, suck >this song or what ?
Who really _cares_ if someone likes DREAM THEATER and not progressive metal? WHY DO YOU HAVE TO ONLY LIKE ONE STYLE OF MUSIC? Open your mind and learn to appreciate all forms of music.
- Why is it such a big deal to you guys if Dream Theater wrote a song that was influenced by U2? - Why can't you like songs done by Dream Theater that were influenced by a non-progressive artist?
Before you start criticizing DT music, ask yourself why you are criticizing it. And don't give me an answer like, "Because it's not Dream Theater." It IS Dream Theater. They wrote it. When are you going to understand this?
Sure, I enjoy listening to Dream Theater because their music is energetic and entertaining, but at the same time, I find other artists such as Tori Amos, Sting, Queensryche, The Who, and Dave Matthews Band have tapped into a creative outlet I can really get into. I feel deeply sorry for you if you don't have the ability to step outside the boundaries of progressive metal because you don't know what you are missing. -------------------------------
