Yeah, Liquid Tension Experiment is doing pretty good at CDnow...
So far 116 copies have been sold through UACM alone... 22 copies
of Explorers Club were bought through UACM during the first week
of its release. Since I know exactly what albums people buy from
CDnow through UACM, I have recently added an "Album Suggestions"
      page... Here's the current top 3 :

      1. Liquid Tension Experiment Liquid Tension Experiment 116
      2. Dream Theater Hollow Years 33
      3. Explorers Club Age Of Impact 28

You can get to the "Album Suggestions" page through the table of
contents on the main page, or the "CDnow" box on the left frame.

No it's not... All subscriptions now have to go through the addy
in the UK. Full details can be found on the "Official Fanclubs"
      page on UACM.

I'd just like to mention, that you get the x-mas CD with all six

something that allows people to have the last newsletter sent to
them from the site... Should be up and running later today. :-)

It's a rumour that Rock Radio Network accidentally started after
misinterpreting an email from Mike Portnoy... Unfortunately some
metal magazines missed RRN's correction, and printed the rumour.
For more information about this, check out UACM's news page.

I emailed them about it weeks ago, but they didn't even take the
      time to reply.

And then look carefully at my reply to that post. I'm sure Derek
now regrets having sent that note, seeing as how fucking hostile
Matt Johnston reacted to it. Maybe he has a blond sister and was
wondering how she got those backstage passes. ;-)

    Ahoy,

After talking to a former guitar teacher of mine and getting some
recommendations on some jazz stuff, I bought Mike Stern's 'Between the Lines' CD
yesterday. If you like a great mix of blues and jazz, with an excellent lineup for
the band (inluding Dave Weckl on percussion, who I had not heard before... this guy
is awesome.), then I suggest picking this one up. It's pretty upbeat most of the way
through with some really catchy riffing, great jazz guitar work, and a Eric
Johnson-quality recording. I will be buying his other albums shortly.

I have been making cd's from different songs and stuff I have found on
    the web.
A problem I have is, when the songs switch to next track, there is an
audible click (pop, snap, whatever you want to call it)

I have been using two programs (wavclip, and wavtrim) to remove any non
audio data from the wav files but this doesn't seem to work all the time
and it is a pain in the ass to go in and remove all beginning and ending
silence from a wav file manually (assuming this is the problem).

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Just for the hell of it, I did a search on Alta Vista searching "Mike Portnoy". it returned an unfuckingbelievable 2,400,567 matches!! I'd say that Mike has been pretty well received by the music and internet communities!! I fuckin' hear ya' Mike!! Rock ON bro!! BTW the clinic you did in Altanta was incredible and to those of you Jammers complaining about a fee for a clinic...EAT ME! It was worth ANY amount of $ that I could afford <even though it was free>. Yes, photo's and video cameras ARE allowed in *most* clinics. It's probably up to the performer. Paul Cashman and Phil Carter, it was a pleasure meeting you guys and we still need to get a Southeastern YTSECON set up sometime in the near furure. Here's an idea for us jammers...Everyone (at least those who can) should get a pic of themselves scanned and these should be kept on a page (UACM maybe?) with the nicks and city/states in which they live. It'd sur emaking finding one another easier at YTSECONs or concerts! Just a thought.

Sorry for NDTC, but for all the West Michigan 'jammers out there, my band A-Frame is opening up for Clutch tomorrow night at the Intersection on Wealthy St. in Grand Rapids. It is a Ticketmaster show, so I would have said something earlier, but we had it confirmed only recently. We're not a prog band, more of a 70's Sabbath kind of thing, so don't expect Fates Warning or anything like that. Thanks.

Here's your solution: 1. Read the JAM. 2. Sample what you can from the Net. 3. Tell family and friends to give you CASH. 4. Buy the shit yourself!! Save a lot of headache from getting shit you don't like cause they couldn't find what you list for them !! ;-)

UACM looks fine, and I've had no problems viewing the frames version. As for what you can to make our browsing your sites easier, just keep things simple. What you have going now is fine. The only real problem Webtv has is reading advanced JAVA code. That, and we can't download. :o(

I've been wondering about this for a while... I know that there are "Webtv people" visiting UACM and my other sites regularly, but I'm not sure how things look on a Webtv... Can you view the frames version or do you have to use the frameless one ? Is there *anything* I should keep in mind to make things look good on a Webtv ?

You forgot to put quote marks around the name, it searched for Mike and Portnoy. "Mike Portnoy" gets 846 matches at Alta Vista, still a lot though.

Man, all you mother-fuckers aren't real prog metal fans. You listen to classical music? Who'd listen to that shit anyway. Symphany X is a fucking sell-out because they orchestrate some stuff like that. Yngwie? Oh there's the biggest sell-out of them all. All he is is recycled Bach and Paganini licks without most of the tastefullness. But screw classical music, I'm a prog metal fan. While we're at it, screw straight-ahead metal, too. Skid Row? Def Lepard? Nitro? Vinnie Vincent? Oh, they're every bit the same and they aren't prog, goddammit! And folk! Just don't get me started on folk! Everyone just coppies the Carpenter Family, Simon and Gargunckle, and early bluegrass! No originality and the furthest thing from Prog in the world. While we're at it, let's screw New Age as well. Most of those people couldn't play a 64th note run if their lives depended on it! Obviously, prog kicks their asses as well. Conclusions: All music that isn't prog sucks. No music is as original as prog metal sucks--oh wait a sec. You mean Prog is just th4e child of several different types of styles combined? Wait, you mean all music is? Oh fuck this music shit. I'm gonna start listening to chainsaws and skyescraper construction for fun. Oh shit! That's been done before, too. Maybe if I go to Germany, they can totally enlighten me. Maybe if I go to Italy, I can hear a perfectly original sound! Maybe... Maybe life just isn't worth living because someone has already lived before me.

Get your fucking heads out of your fucking asses, shut your goddammed mouths, open your ears, and think for a second. You don't have to be a fan of every style of music, but you ought to respect different types of music for, if nothing else, being different. If prog were the only thing in the world, I'd be pretty fucking board. Oh, and what does it matter if a keyboardist or two is sex-crazy? My best friend tries to get on every female thing that breathes. I know plenty of other people who'd do the same thing. You think that's wrong? Don't sleep with them, it's that simple. Just because you respect someone's abilities as an artist means that it's really important what they do when they are not creating or performing art. If Darick is a personal friend of yours, take it up with him, but leave the rest of us out of it. People, stop living vicariously through the bands you listen to. If DT started a Nazi party and killed off a bunch of Jews again, some of you would go along with it, as long as they still wrote good music. If we gave every ounce of our being to creative forces and worked hard, we could also write DT-equivalent stuff. I guarantee you that one day in the not-too-distant future, I will start mounting to JP's level of technique. That's not bragging, that's just how hard I'm working at guitar tand the progress I've made. My song-writing right now is pretty damned good as well, thank you very much. Those who listen to my music and feel so inclined to worship me may do so at the shrine undergoing construction in Cyberia right at this moment. Get a head start now so that you can say you were there first when I take the world by storm. All right. Enough space and time wasted. Time to practice and listen to more. Be well. Rick Wakeman is most noted for playing with the band Yes. He also has a solo career going with more albums than most band could ever hope to record. However, many would say that Rick Wakeman's best work was in the early 70s-era Yes and his first two or so solo albums. To hear this man in action, you will need to buy Yes Fragile and Close ot the Edge, and Rick Wakeman's Six Wives of Henry VIII to start you off.

Roger, thanks for the info. His loss. I can't imagine what is so bad about my posts that would make people direct me to the proverbial recycle bin, for the most part, lately I have been on topic, I answer people's questions when they ask, and I usually don't flame people. yet, due to the frequency of my posts I am bitched at? And oddly enough, if I consolidated my posts into one, they wouldn't be any less consuming, then everybody would bitch about the size of my post. So, how can I win? Well, if you all can find a way to get me a job so I don't sit on the internet all day, then you won't hear from me so much anymore. Excuse me if I have something to contribute.
