The news that there may never be anymore Rush sent me into a
spiralling depression the likes of which I may never recover from. I've
been listeneing to them since Permanent Waves, seen them on every tour
since Moving Pictures (incliding 5 nights in a row at Radio City), and
to read that they may be defunct . . . well, that is the worst news I
    have ever . . . EEEEEEEEVER . . . heard in my life. Never again will I
be able to spooge myself when i buy domething totally brand new from
Rush. No more goofy bits in the liner notes ("Brought to you by the

RUSH!!! I am so lost thinking about this. I can only pray to the gods
that they do not end this way. They need to go out in the proverbial
Blaze of Glory. Alas, thought, it looks like that may not happen. <sigh>

I managed to sneak in the back door of the UBL using the Album search. I found this drivel in the bio section.

"After being dropped by MCA following the failure of their 1989 debut album, vocalist Charlie Dominici quit the band, and it appeared doubtful that they would be able to make it."

    Guys & Gals help me.....

I've just been enlightened that Mike Bahr is not a member of DT and Derek Shenanigan is not a bootleg cd dealer......... SHOCK HORROR

I suppose this is sweet revenge for humble little me after being flamed rather substantially over my "Mike Portnoy is not actually a god but a great drummer and padre to the fans" jam.

Just how gullible can people be ? Well we'll see as I take it on as my mission over the coming months to subtly check the IQ and perception of jammers.

    Here's a quick tester-------

Man that Kevin James Petrucci's lead vocals suck on the DREAM THEATRE (!) album "When Dreams are Falling wide Awake into an Infinity of Words and Seasons at the Marquee".

    OK how was that ?

But seriously folks I am seriously looking at my finances at the moment and wondering how generous the bank manager will be upon my request for funds for about 10 new CD's Platypus, AOI, DT live (+video), Queensryche?(oct), Kings X Tape Head, Poundhound (Jerry Gaskill), Chroma Key, Ty Tabor solo

Best recent purchase......Apollo440 theme from Lost in Space, man this track is made to be played at Volume 10 in a small terraced house with thin walls......

    Phil,

Consider yourself fortunate you were able to see one of my erstwhile "guitar heroes".

I just can't stand living in the UK when all around the US tours and clinics are happening that I would kill to get to. I can't believe how much whingeing you yanks do when you say the group in question isn't coming to within a couple of hundred miles of you. I've been waiting for loads of American Prog Rock bands, Metal bands, and solo guitarists to commit to touring in this country.

The guitarists may do a clinic or two - we had Paul Gilbert here recently - but they are not publicised greatly or held during the evenings or weekends and are in small music shops which can hold less than 50 people. An unbearable situation for any fan who works full time.

I'm better of than I was a few years ago because I now live in London which has a livelier gigging scene than any other city in the UK, but the artists I want to see never come to the UK anyway.

Anyway, griping over, I'm still trying to get me hands on some of the earlier Gary Hoey CDs (Ho Ho Hoey, Bug Alley etc) as well as the Heavy Bones album he appeared on. Does anyone have these and think they could give an unbiased review ?

    Cheers,

    Rhys.

    Hey jammerz.

I'd like to bring to your attn these little corrections or bits of of info.. whatever you might wanna call it..

    Brian "Tee Funk" Henderson wrote:

    >Anyway, the story I overheard was that Ian Paice, Deep Purple's drummer, ate three cheesesteaks earlier that day, and they were severley not agreeing with him. This might've been a joke, sure, but it seems like a likely enough story. My question is -- why couldn't DP have had Carl Palmer or Mike Portnoy fill in on drums? Either one of them could *EASILY* play DP's songs. Mike especially, since he grew up on the stuff. Probably not too great from a legal point of view, but still, that's better than sending a stadium of people packing.<

    =-=-

In case some of you might not know.. Mike emailed me the following...

Gary, As of now, the rest of the tour is scheduled to go as scheduled. However, We have no control over Ian Gillian's voice! : ) C-ya next week, Mike Portnoy =-=-

so it's not the drummer.. but the singer who is ill.. but let's just keep on fingers <or toes or what else?) that no more shows are cancelled! =)

    Correction #2..

    Matt Stanich wrote:

    >The title is "Different Stages" (formerly "Dimlit Stages For All Ages"), and is due for release on October 6th. This will be a 3-cd set: the first 2 cd's will be material from Rush's past two tours, the last cd will be a show recorded from the "A Farewell To Kings" tour -- the Hammersmith Odeon in London (February 1978).

Some tracks that have been confirmed as making the album (these are not in any order, and this is not the complete listing):

2001 * Dreamline * Test For Echo * Bravado * Limelight * Resist * 2112 * Leave That Thing Alone * Driven * Stick It Out * Animate * Nobody's Hero * Show Don't Tell * Drum Solo * Tom Sawyer * Cold Fire * Half The World * Roll The Bones * The Analog Kid * Natural Science

Some tracks that are still being considered:

Red Barchetta * Freewill * Ghost Of A Chance * Vital Signs * Limbo * The Pass

The partial track listing of the 1978 show:

Something For Nothing * Cygnus X-1 * Cinderella Man * A Farewell To Kings * Working Man * In The Mood<

    -*--*-*

This has been updated to... (Official final set list)

    Disc #1

    2001/Dreamline / Limelight / Driven / Animate / The Trees / Closer To The Heart / Bravado / Nobody's Hero / 2112

    Disc #2

Test For Echo / Freewill / Roll The Bones / Stick It Out / Resist / Drum Solo / Natural Science / Leave That Thing Alone / The Spirit of Radio / Tom Sawyer / YYZ

    Disc #3 (Feb 1978)

Bastille Day / Bytor & The Snow Dog / Xanadu / A Farewell To Kings / Something For Nothing / Cygnus X-1 / Anthem / Working Man / Fly By Night / In The Mood / Cinderella Man

Unfortunately, it looks like the more "interesting" tracks (Cold Fire, The Analog Kid) didn't make the cut. But, we get another great rendition of "Tom Sawyer"! *sigh*

I've also heard that a box set might be in the works, with the tracks that didn't make the live album (Vital Signs, Ghost Of A Chance, Half The World, The Pass, The Analog Kid, Double Agent, Show Don't Tell)

    =-=-

    Hope this helps...

Perhaps you didn't pay attention to the last jams, where I told about this project (It was what? One or two days ago that I posted about it).

Anyway, you're duplicating the efforts. And we already have people designed to do many things. We're only waiting for admissions (Matt is taking care of admissions). And we have a homepage with the current state of the project (Peter Tatischev is taking care of this part). Swifty is taking care of maintaining the archives of the list.

Ok, I have had enough. Is there a more pathetic being on this list than Deed? EVERY SINGLE FUCKING TIME she says something it has the "I feel so sorry for myself, nobody likes me" vibe oozing out. Get a fucking clue. If YOU don't like yourself, and if the glass is ALWAYS half-empty, NO ONE ELSE is going to give a damn either. She's like the fat lady who keeps saying, "I am sooooo fat" in the hopes that someone will say, "no, you aren't." Argh. It was bad enough on the #jam, when you couldn't say anything to her without her going off in a huff, but this takes the cake. If we don't agree with her, we hate her. Fine. Go away. I cannot stand self-loathing. I am quite sure there is a wonderful girl somewhere in there, but I am sick of trying to find it.
