<<The rap guy on RTB is Geddy. His voice was processed quite a lot, but it is him. No studio rapper here, folks.>>
I always thought the "spoken voices" on their albums was always Neil. This also goes for the narrator in The Necromancer, the voice at the begining of Cygnus, and the guy saying "subdivisions" (even though alex says it live).
Also, on the live album, dontcha wish they picked more songs that havent been on live albums? Do we really need yet another Closer to the Heart? Personally, Id rather have a song like Double Agent instead of The Spirit of Radio, which was already captured beautifuly on E...SL. 2112 doesnt count, though, since thas the whole thing instead of the cut down version on ATWAS. Same goes for the 3rd disc, since its the full concert.
welp....I'm off to Berklee for the summer guitar sessions. So, with Ibanez RG 7 string in hand, I bid you good day......

The first listen went waaay over my head.Thereīs just too many great melodies and rhythms to hear on the first listen. Now Iīm listening to it for the second time and I can already feel it growing on me. About the production.I really donīt agree with those who say that drums are buried in the mix. They are just right, IMO(And this is coming from a drummer).True, there are moments when you canīt hear the lower toms too well, but you can FEEL them and thatīs what matters. And to the guy who complained that Bozzioīs cymbals donīt sound bright enough, dry sounding cymbals are to Bozzio as shred is to Petrucci.Part of his style. My only complaint is the vocals which should be more in front. This cd is prog all the way through. Not because of odd times but because of the diversity of the music.

OK. Let's go through this again. The Neckromancer is Neil. Signus is actually their producer, Terry Brown. I think Subdivissions is Neil. And as for the new live album having tracks already done on other live albums, so what? it isn't terrible. DT has PMU on on Live at the Marqui and they are putting it on the new double live CD. Yeah, I would like to see double agent, the pass, and other songs that haven't seen a live album yet on the triple live Rush Cd, but that is up to the band. Besides, you always have the bootlegs.

Hey guys, half a month ago, i was in Harlingen, TX. I went in to a Sam Goody store (i didnt even expect them to have some DT...), so i skipped their cd section, and procceded to check out their music book section. I was seeing the ususal stuff there (AC/DC, Van Halen, Metallica, Clapton...), and said to myself: "I m never going to find that damn FII tab book", as soon as i said that to myself, i stumbled upon this book....yeah! So i bought it for like 25 bucks.....i didnt even know if DT had already released the book, but i have it already...great! So, if someone of you is trying to get it, dont subestimate that kind of music stores....there s some chance that they have what you are looking for.....

Hi there.
If you're a Brazilian ytsejammer and you'd like to participate on the upcoming (we sure hope so!) event, I have good news for you: I've set up a new mailing list called (oh, guess what!) YtseBR.
Now that I'm thinking about it, it's not only intended to be a way of communication with the people that will be at the Brazilian YtseGatherings. Perhaps (if it lives long enough), it will be the Brazilian version of Ytsejam. Who knows about the future? :-)
But before we start:
* TURN OFF the damn MIME encoding! * the list isn't in digest mode yet (perhaps it will never be, if there are only very few posts); * to any administrative task (be it "subscribe" or "unsubscribe"), send your message to <rbrito-ytsebr-request@linux.ime.usp.br> with the appropriate subject (that is, if you want to subscribe, write subscribe on the subject line; if you want to unsubscribe, write unsubscribe); * the address to send posts is <rbrito-ytsebr@linux.ime.usp.br> (did you notice that the list has two addresses?? Memorize them. It's not that hard).
Ok, now that the basic facts are said, we'll try to arrange the necessary things for the gathering, like the date, the place etc.
Right?
See you on YtseBR, Roger...

In the future, we won't have to wait for new DT albums, and the Kevin Moore/Derek Sherinian debate will be meaningless, because we will be able to have whichever one we want to be in the band in the band. We'll be able to add Robert Fripp on guitar if we want.
Here's an article on EMI, a computer program which writes other composer's music for them: http://www.sjmercury.com/west/docs/composer0524.htm

I finally got the oh-so-resonably-priced Echant's 'Time Lost' ($15) from Laser's Edge. Of course I really like it - they are my favorite band at the moment. And while the tunes on it are good, I don't think that 'Blueprint' or 'Wounded' suffer without any of them.
Per Arash's slagging of the new tune from 'Break': I haven't heard anything from the new album, but I'm ready for their sound to change a little. After listening to 'Blueprint' and 'Wounded' to the point of wearing them out, nothing on 'Time Lost' sounded very different from anything on either album. Not that that's a bad thing at all, I'm just ready for the band to move onto something different. Then again, I'm one of those 'Who says FII is a big step back for DT? You've got to be drunk!' types.

You know, until the 90's bit me in the ass and all these Rush-influenced bands showed up playing progressive rock with a more 'metal' mentality, Rush was my life. Period. But, hey, let's get some perspective, o.k.? What? They've released 16 studio albums? Good God, do you know what fans of other bands would give if only the bands they loved could have come close to that kind of output? Rush fans aren't cursed - they're among the luckiest music fanatics in the world!!!!!!!!!

I just love the piano part off of ACOS, ID #2, part two (the name eludes me.. Can it be Love Lies Bleeding?)
it has some real cool parts to it..
Now what I wondered, was if anyone has tabbed / written out the whole thing.. Or at least can tell me what scale it's played on.. I might be a completely talentless musician, but hey.. I can't figure out exactly what they are playing.
Well.. If anyone has some DT keyboard stuff, let me know.

Hey Jammers!
Disclaimer: If this was posted before, then my most humble apologies for the waste of bandwidth! I believe I have some rather profound info for all the DT fans concerning the Reuseable riff phenom (as reported in the FAQ) on FII?!? "FII, you say?" That's FII, so everybody whip out their copy and place in the player....I'll wait......
Ready? Ok.. Listen to Burning My Soul -- the chorus in particular James is singing "Twisting, Turning, Losing all sense of Yearning...." Now listen to the guitar part playing behind it.... Now listen to Just Let Me Breathe, the part from time index..3:41-3:56. Now is it just me...or do these riffs sound STRIKINGLY FAMILIAR????
I was half asleep listening to BMS and I (for some odd reason) picked up on the guitar and it sounded ALOT like the part I mentioned in JLMB.
BTW, How's this for a positive thread....?
Of course, It took me until now to hear this and it could all be me =)
