I'm listening to my one and only reggae cd, Bad Boys by Inner Circle,
(you know, the COPS song) and have realized that when Derek
dies and goes to Hell his punishment will be playing keyboards
in a reggae band. Could anything be more boring?!?!

    Trevor
who tells people he likes one reggae cd and when people
ask which one he says any one, they all sound the same.

Yes, as far as I know. Rullo left after DWoT, was replaced by Walling
for TiO, then Walling left after TiO and now Rullo's back in. Not sure
though if Rullo was originally kicked out or if he left out of his own
will.... likewise I'm not sure if Rullo was invited back or asked to
    come back.

There's some guy called Steve here on the list who seems to know about
the wheeling and dealings of SX.... Steve, can you enlighten us?

    Oh yes!

It's good to be back.Holiday's gone, and it's time to do some serious
work. And of course some serious jam...

    I didn't have a chance to use my e-mail during the summer,so I'd wonder
if you could tell me about all the wonderful things I missed...
And please, tell me all about this Age of Impact-thing...

By the way:Has anyone else heard the new Stratovarius EP called "SOS"?
I had the chace to hear it yesterday, and I tought it really wasn't that
    good...

The first song,"SOS",or "Save Our Souls",is really good song, with great
melody line, but thats about it then.

The second song,I can't even remember the name, was really shitty.Just
that basic double bassdrum-stuff you'll hear from any band within that
    scene.

The third one was a Scorpions cover(!),"Blackout".Stratovarius really
plays the shit out of that song, but I think the voice of Timo Kotipelto
really doesn't fit in that song.It just doesn't sound right...

The last song was called "Years Go By",and it was (of course) a
straight-from-the-heart ballad. The song is boring and doesn't really go
anywhere.a Ballad like "Coming Home" is much better than that.
"Years Go By" sounds as if it really was made just to fill some empty
    space...

So,great first song, but otherwise it sucked pretty bad...

By the way, tell me something about Queensryche's
"Operation:Mindcrime".Is it as good as "Empire" is?I have ordered it
couple of months ago,but still haven't received it...

    I guess it's time to go now,C-YA!

    >Floyd-ish? What are you on anyway?

i think its floyd like in a way, too. just listen to parts of TOT. also
johns soloing style is going in somewhat gilmour direction, ie very melodic
not racer x like (though i love that racer x style). sometimes you just get
tiny streams of floyd if you listen to fii.
man i LOVE Pink Floyd, so great if DT do so as well.
And i think ive heard John saying it in an interview as well according to
his soloing and the attempt to create solos you can sing along with a real
deep feeling (not only TOT, LitS as well, great thing..)

    concerning the producers stuff:
i love I&Ws sound as it is. for me its the best you can make an album of
that musical style sound like.especially that big huge fridge rack guitar
sound totally blows me. on fii things are different. true theres too many
effects on guitars, but live the thing sounds better. not to say that fiis
sound sucks, nah, i like it as well, though when i first heard it it
reminded me of alternative shit (sorry...maybe john should use the triaxis
    again...!)
    got better anyway, so...
    BTW, John is almost GOD.

Is that from the DT live soon-to-come double CD?
Well, Don't know if I'm right for sure 'till I hear the song, but since
DT cover many legendary songs, I think this is Lynyrd Skynyrd -
Freebird. Great song, BTW, real rockin' stuff!

Talking about Satch, anybody knows somehtign enw about the new G3 stuff?
I read in guitar magazine few months ago that Joe's gathering again
guitarists. It said that Marty Friedman is sure choice (I think?) and
othee possible choicese was Kenny Wayne Shepard (great guitarist) and...
    forgot the rest.

    Anyone?

Also, can someone tell me a name of any Kenny Wayne Shepard album? How
many they have? I just saw video clip on TV and LOVED it! Haven't seen
anyone plays so similar to Stevie Ray Vaughan style!

Yeah....that song was "One I want" If I have my memory of Lyrics
correct....The crazy thing is that song is the best song on the album....it
    says something...

As for Missing Sammy, Chris Merlo is absolutely correct. I DO miss Sammy
Hagar. Sammy DID give something to Van Halen that David Lee Roth couldn't
and Gary Cherone cant. The fact of the matter was that in 1978-1984 there
were bands that could touch or surpass Van Halen. I could go on for days
naming them. Say what you want, but Van Halen had not reached 'that level'
yet. When Sammy joined the band, they reached an untouchable status. Sammy
sang with more feeling than Dave or Gary could imagine. Now that Gary is in
the group, it's like theve dropped back. I hate to compare music to
baseball again, But I can only imagine watching the Yankees 5 years from
now. I will ALWAYS be comparing that team to the team of 1998. (Unless of
course, the team in 2003 wins more games than the 1998 team, but lets not
    fool ourselves).
Gary Cherone is DEFINITELY a good frontman. I have always been a fan of
him in Extreme. When I found out that Gary replaced Sammy, I thought "Well,
better him than someone else"...But I quickly changed my mind. When you
take a singer that sings with as much feeling as Hagar and replace him wth
someone that is a good front man...well....you get Van Halen with Roth....or
in this case Cherone....I remember Eddie Van Halen saying recently that he
didn't want to become a retro act by reuniting with Roth. (one of his
reasons for not letting Roth stay 2 years back). Unfortunately, Ed turned
Van Halen into a Retro act anyway.
Chris, it's rather shallow of you to think that Van Halen is about Eddie.
Sure, I used to feel the same way....until the day I listened to VH3. The
day I realized that Van Halen was missing something serious without Sammy
    Hagar.

    Oh...one more thing.....

That song and others by Van Halen (i.e. Right Now, When its love, Why cant
this be love) paved the way for keyboardists like Kevin Moore and Derek
Sherinian to do what they do. Don't bite the hand that carries the fridge

ALBUM REVIEW- DT: LIVE AT THE MARQUEE
1.metropolis, it was good.. it was long.. it was a very nice liove song..
i don't think petrucci had on his lucky undies this night becaus ehe

    3. bombay vindaloo, it was good.. bombay is a place thats not in america..
i've been there once.. i got my nipples pierced to my scrotum there...
nice song that was playing there in the shop..

4.surrounded, didn't like it, its a slow song.. reminds me that i haven;t

    lay off the masturbation addiction.

5.another hand-the killing hand, refer to above said addiction

    bit moistened..

now see ? do ppl really wanna know what ya thought about every damn song ?
maybe i'm just annoyed that i have to fukkin scroll down pages and pages
to get past your post.. but i dunno...

and my main criticism.. YOUR FUCKING SIGNATURE...

how do you know your signature is too big

.if its longer than your penis..your signature is too big

if the constitution pales in comparison..your signature is too big

.if your hand cramps up every time you add something to it..your
    signature is too big

.if you notice that your space bar is worn out BECAUSE OF ALL THE FUCKING
ON SPACES AND DOUBLE SPACING YOU USE..your signature is too big

if you advertise more webpages than yahoo..your signature is too big

KO and thats about it.. just my thoughts to make your day brighter and to
voiuce what everyone says on #ytsejam... cos you can never go too far =)
