Hey the other Drummer Mike, I was wondering how those thrones were. I want to get a new one and I was just going to go with one of the ones with the thigh cutouts. They are extremely comfortable and ergonomic (if that's possible for a seat), but I can imagine how the backrest even improves on that. So you like that throne so far?

The only Van Halen that will go in the books will be the Roth era. They were the American Led Zeppelin. The Hagar/Cherone eras although very good, did not have the flair and dazzle of the 78-84 era. The tension between Roth and Edward provided the magic.

And don't be dissing Randy Rhoads. God only knows what his potential was.

    Hi all

a couple of new reviews for your entertainment. WARNING: both of these albums could stop people from listening to just prog.

    SOULFLY - Soulfly

Can anybody still remember the shock when it was announced that Max Cavalera would be leaving Sepultura (for me almost as sad as when Kyuss announced they would be splitting)? Remember thinking it was the end of a musical era? Well the good news is here - Max's new band Soulfly continues where Chaos A.D. and Roots left off, only harder and better. The first track 'Eye For An Eye' is like a fist in your face, from which you don't recover for the rest of the album. Killer riffs, Max's unique vocal style, gut wrenching bass lines and an amazing percussion performance all add up to a roller coaster album that takes you from one climax to another, all of this wrapped up with tribal rhythms, hip hop/crossover and some very interesting samples. But Max has managed to avoid the trap of simply becoming a copy of Sepultura - Soulfly is more and tries (successfully) things that Sepultura never did. If, according to a certain Mike Portnoy, balls and chunk is where it's at, then this album is 100% where it's at. Unfortunately I can't give more than 10/10

    SACRIVERSUM - Soteria

Gothic metal from Poland? Why not. Following in the footsteps of their compatriots Cemetary Of Scream, this Polish sextette have recorded a very respectable album which will surely be one of the top gothic releases of 98. What of the music? Somewhere between Paradise Lost when they released 'Gothic' and the debut album of Theatre Of Tragedy. The guitar sound reminds me of the twin guitars of The Gathering and the keyboards give the sound depth. The band also utilizes the female clear voice/male cookie monster combination that so many bands of this genre employ, but Sacriversum do it well and not as a gimmick. Some of the songs are little harder and faster than many gothic releases, and this is something that makes 'Soteria' so different and refreshing while still retaining the sadness and melancholia typical of gothic bands. Hopefully a band with a future. 8/10

I also bought Platypus, but I won't trouble you with a full review. I'll just say I like the instrumental stuff better than the tracks with vocals. Of the three 'projects', my clear favourite is Explorers Club, but perhaps the boys could do a project with Petrucci/Myung/Portnoy/ Sherinian/LaBrie - that would be something new!

Question: does anybody else wonder if Kenneth Starr has ever had one single blow job in his sad and pathetic life?

    Hey, guys!

I forked out the cash for the "Angelica" album about 5 or 6 months ago and was greatly disappointed. Although the album is described as a mixture of rock and opera, the only really rockin' tracks are Vai's and Johnson's plus the first track (I don't remember who played on that one.) Even Vai's isn't all that spectacular. If you're looking for a contemporary opera album, I would check out anything by ARIA. It's not rock, but it's cool as hell.

Also, does anyone have any suggestions as to a good beginning guitar?? I don't want to spend a whole lot of money, mostly because my wife won't let me!! Plus, I'd like to know what else I need to get started in learning. Any suggestions by private email, please!

Either way they both changed drumming alot. You have to figure nobody had done this type of music before so they had to mix the influences they already had like jazz blues and dare I say country. Mix it all up add a little experimentation and there you have it a style is born! Juli

Obsessive compulsive? Really? Maybe that explains the $8,000 dollars in malibu Barbies I baught over the past two months. I just couldn't...find...the perfect...MALIBU...BARBIE...DAMN YOU YOU WHORE I'LL KILL YOU AND EAT YOUR EYEBALLS BARBIE YOU BIG FAT TEMPTUOUS SLUT

    > You are sitting on an anthill. You can't move. Your hands are tied > behind > your back and your feet are firmly bound together. The ants are > aggitated.

But Korg, you forgot to take into account that my CARNIVEROUS NUTSACKS are hungry, and without warning, they erupt from my levis and begin the mass destruction of the horde of arthropods. It's fangs glistening in the afternoon sunlight, the mutant, possesed nutsack begins a mighty onslaught. Impervious to pain, these heroic nutsacks chew their way into the very base of the anthill, consuming all creatures that lie in their path, from the harmless aphid farm to the edible fungus cultures to the queen ho-bag ant herself. In a gluttenous orgy, all ants are consumed and the only sound to be heard is the slow, stead growl of the carniverous nutsacks as they search for their next prey...

(It was hard for me to get second dates when I was in college.)

    > > > AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! > -- > The trash heap has spoken... Nyaaaaaahhhh! >

Yeah, well *I* knows where Gobo goes, mother fucker. ;D

    -da symbiotic Loooooeeeeeeeee

P.S. Isn't carniverous Nutsacks a killer name for a band? Or at least a song? I don't know what it would be like (the song), except that there HAS to be some gangsta rap in it, and the following verse is a MUST:

"Can't get no lovin' Can't find no whore My nutsack is a carnivore"

I expect to see that in some form on the next studio album, Derek.

And I think my original point was that the phrase "... is my God" just sounds stupid when you think about it.
