On the t-shirt subject : Everywhere i go, i see only one shirt being sold
    (the FII 3 photo
bikini top, bow shirt) at places like CD Now and Music Boulevard. The one i
    want is the
black one with a photo of the band posing, also from the FII tour. Can
anyone direct me to where i can choose from a multiple selection of DT
t-shirts? I've went to every music shop that sells rock shirts in my area,
and no one has even heard of Dream Theater there. If i listened to
alternative music, Cd's and shirts would be waiting for me in every store,
so this makes Dream Theater a hard band to like because i can't get my hands
on any of their merchandise. This is driving me crazy. Someone please help!

and i can't get Masque outa the cd player in the car this week. too easy

that i roll my own cigarettes while i'm singing along and i really get some
strange looks from the locals and the tourists. it's just Mysteries and
    Mayhem...

but, just thinking about it today i thought (for a second) i saw some
familiarity with Masque and FII. they both have their radio songs mixed
with some really great (immortal) tunes _and_ Kansas wasn't a really "big"
draw when they toured at that time (or during their first 2 albums). just
wondering (out loud mind ya) if the next DT studio release could be ...
    "the one"?

dont count on it deathy, i heard Mike say that Dream Theater wants to keep
moving forward, that's why they wouldn't re-release the '86 Majesy Demos, or
any other unreleased material. Unless he and/or Dream Theater change their

    --------------

            Yes, it's an Italian band.
There are three albuns and 1 EP (albuns: Project: Time Scanning, Act
II: Galileo, Shades of Time - this last one more an EP, but... and the
EP "Dungeons of Vatican", that I thing most tracks are included in the
newer re-release of "Project: Time Scanning"). Their sound changes from
    album to album.
IMHO, "Act II: Galileo" is by far the best, although the sound quality
of the recording is not that good. The music is fantastic, and the album
is some kind of "rock opera" a la Savatage. :-)
The singer is quite good (the last album "Shades of Time" has a new one
that's not so good), and all the musicians are quite adept. This last
one is pretty different from the first two ones, more heavy and less
proggy (they even have a cover of Black Sabbath's "Heaven and Hell").
The first album (Project: Time Scanning) is heavy and somewhat
progressive, sounds like a mix of the two following ones. :-) Pretty
nice also, but I think that Act II is by far their best.

I had a bookmark for a page about them, but I lost it. :-)
            Anyway, they're worth checking out.

    Hi there jammanoids!!!

I know this is probably not a prog band (not in the least), but, what the hell. :-)

I was in a back-to-old-times mood today and decided to play good old "Full Throttle", mainly because I remembered the sound track. It was composed by a so-called "biker band" called The Gone Jackals. All I know is that the first song your hear in the game kicks major ass!!! I'm searching CDNow right now for some RA's from them, but they're too short.

Anyone listen to these guys? Any recommendations? Are they worth a try???

I doubt that the symbol is trademarked by Dream Theater, especially since it's the letter "M" in specific font that's probably used by others....

However, there might be a problem is you actually associate the name "Dream Theater" with the symbol, since the name of the band is licensed or something (don't know the legal-ese). But then again, people are selling the Ytsejam T-shirts as well.

If you do a sticker with just the symbol, I don't think there's a problem at all. Hell, if someone calls you on it, just say you were selling it to people as a monogram for their cars, and that only people whose first or last names began with the letter "m", or only for people who had an "m" in their name. (both of which don't apply to me). Or for people whose cars began with "m" or had an "m" in it. (damn, still doesn't apply to me). awww, fuck it, I don't want a sticker anyway.

Just my convoluted look at things - the crack rocks this morning :)

Well, here's my .02, like it matters, but this is how I see it. We are a fan club organization. I think that we could probably have it as an internal thing... As long as the "Magesty" logo is associated with the online fanclub known as the "ytsejam" I don't think DT would mind. If you sold the bumper stickers to outside people.. I think that would be frowned upon. Later, J

When you reach a certain speed, there aren't many nuances to add to the picking. I'm talking some of the top speeds of guys like Petrucci and Vai. If you had Petrucci and Vai play the SAME 16th notes at 208 BPM, I bet it would sound extremely similar. What distinguishes their styles the most are the CHOICE of notes and all the nuances that they add when they're NOT playing quite so fast.. This theory breaks down when you analyze guitarists who are "sloppy" or who have a lot of pick noise in their playing. Petrucci and Vai are quite clean, however.

    >In fact I could tell Vai, >Satch, and JP's playing a mile away.

As could I, for the reasons mentioned above..
