I love her and would give her a chance, but I saw her open last summer

Someone mentioned the new Shadow Gallery album - does anyone have a release date? And will it be released here in the UK? And what's happened to the SG website??

    hey Andy,

The Official Release date for Shadow Gallery's Tyranny is Sept 22, 1998. I have heard that in New Zealand the release date was shown as Sept 22nd also. As for the site it's still located at http://www.shadowgallery.com

--- If DT ever got a female singer to sing with them it would have to be Enya. Anyone not familiar with her stuff really should give it a spin.

    Thorin ---

Actually, I'd have to say Loreena McKennitt would be a much better choice. She has a better vocal range than Enya and I think her vocals would be an excellent compliment to James' voice. Best male vocalist I've ever heard has to be James and best female would definately be Loreena.

Yeah, I think he's been using that type of set up ever since like GUP or something. I have to start doing that. I've never practiced to a metronome, only to music. But like some else mentioned in one post of this thread, practicing to a band who's drummer uses a metronome is the same as practicing with a metronome. I guess what I really want to do is start working more on rudiments, like paradiddles (excuse the spelling if it's wrong), fifth rolls, seventh rolls, variations and other practice regiments. You can only play Metropolis, Take the Time and Paradigm Shift so many times before it kinda starts to get boring! :) You know what I'm sayin'? Later for now.

Peace, Love and all that stuff ...

Bad news about the September 30 clinic:

I just got off the phone with a woman at Melodee Music in Sterling, VA. She said that Mike Portnoy's clinic there has NOT been confirmed. She said that it's "just a rumor put on the Internet." (I could be wrong but I thought MIKE was the one that put it there! <g>) They have been in touch with Mike, but they have not confirmed anything yet. They're "still in their old building and need to move into their new building" before this can happen, she said.

I'd still encourage that we call and show our support for bringing Mike to the area, but don't badger them for details or anything... :)

About as similiar as Vai would sound to EVH plaing Eruption note for note. My point is that its just as hard to sound like Vai as EVH, even if you follow the exact practice regimen he did. In your original post you had implied that it was possible to sound like Vai (and not like EVH) because of the disciplined practicing. Thats what Im disagreeing with.

Is it just me, or are there more and more people who get all stressed when nobody listens to them? Anyways,a couple of people, including me, have commented and reviewed it. When I first got it, I liked it, but wasnt exactly blown away. But every time I listen to it I like it more and more. In fact it's the only CD I'm constantly listening to now, aside from Fear Factory's 'Obsolete'. <--- GREAT fucking CD

Metropolis, Part I Scarred Peruvian Skies Take The Time Voices Trial Of Tears Learning To Live

Those 7 songs take up 71 minutes!! Pretty cool mix though...

I was flipping pages through one of the local San Francisco A&E newspapers ("rags" are they called?) and I got to a full-page ad for Virgin Megastore, which is this huge record store, in case you didn't know. On this ad are album covers for six releases, one of which is EXPLORERS CLUB, "Age of Impact". Price: $11.99. I thought that was pretty cool to see.

Yes, you heard right...I've decided I'm going to give up "Progressive Genius" the Progressive Metal Webring. I don't have enough time to run 2 rings effectivly right now, and I want to focus more on LSOAR than Progressive Genius...especially since I just run the ring for PG and someone else owns the domain and runs the page. So...anyone who wants to take on this task, send me E-mail at emoeglin@wezl.org with a short little essay about why you'd like to do this, how yer qualified, and also what your work/school schedule is like. I will give the winner the login and pass for the ring...and will also give them some training with how to work all of it (it's pretty easy). The ring has grown tremendously over the past year...and most of the bands have seen significant requests for tapes and stuff from their sites since joinging the ring. Alrighty...that's all fer now, make sure you don't post to the Jam or most likely you'll be flamed or something. Take care!

You know, this is quite heartening. A few years ago, i saw Awake in a similar ad, and FII more recently. Now, with AoI, a minor label is getting that type of ad space. It makes me wonder if musicianship actually *is* making a comeback. If so, a lot of bands are coming in just in time. Like mine ^_^

But anyways, I also got to thinking on a few statements from jams gone by, and wondered, "If Yes, Kansas, ELP, DP, Tull, and other big proggy-type bands are still making records at the ripe old age of 50-ish (for the members), how long will DT endure?" Emerson sounds like he's still pretty dang spry, and even Ian Anderson can keep up some of his stage prescence. I'm wondering if DT's conservative stage antics will keep them going longer? I mean, some of those classical guitarists played until they died at 90 or so, and were always getting better...

Opinions? Don't ignore me, I might scream and cry! ^_^

no. they are not a prog band. they are not a metal band. they are not a christian band.

TRUE: they have some prog influences. they are a rock band with a lot of beatles, soul, and jimi influences (and others as well). they write some spiritual/searching lyrics in their songs, and one member claikms to be a christian (the other 2 do not claim to be).
