This isn't necessarily correct. I've been playing bass for almost 12 years
now. I can't transcribe Michael Manring's 'Monkeysuit Businessman', or Billy
Sheehan's 'NV43345', or any number of solos from Vic Wooten. Does this mean
that I don't appreciate it? Hell no - it's an insult to me to think that I
don't appreciate the difficulty of any of these pieces merely because I
can't transcribe them.
For the record, Romeo SMOKES. His guitar playing is so friggin' fluid, it
sounds like water. I first heard him on the Working Man tribute and was
totally blown away by his tone and his ability.

Hello My Friends,
How are things? It occurred to me this morning that there are loads of musicians on the jam (mainly guitar, but bass, keys and tubs also exist). Many of us are probably between bands or just the kind who enjoy fluting with our instruments in the bedroom (??). Anyway, would anyone be interested in starting up some kind of demo/riff/whatever swapping site where we could bounce riffs, incomplete tune or whatever off each other.
There are undoubtedly a number of highly talented people here on the jam who would be well capable of being part of an LTE kinda situation if only more of their like were around to help extract the songs and see them through to completion. I think a riff swapping site could help see a few of these incomplete tracks emerge into something with a bit more shape.
One question is what form should the swapping take? I have a Tascam 414 which I know is compatible with the Tascam 424II. Does that extend to Fostex's line of multitrackers? We could post our riffs on a common site in MP3 form and contact the person responsible if interested in helping it develope.
Another issue is who owns the newly developed riff/track? This I can't answer. We can all protect ourselves against loosing our own riffs to someone by sending a tape and tab of the riff to ourselves by registered mail thus proving that it existed before it appeared on the thief's latest album.
Does this idea have a chance of lifting off the ground?
Any thoughts/flames/mental abuse would be welcome,

Anyone have a URL for the AT&T BFG 9000 pedal vibrato attachment? It's supposed to allow the frequency to be altered slighty. I think I may have PMU transcribed but bending the notes by hitting the keys with a ball peen just doesn't seem to work.

You know, all this talk about listening to classically trained singers and vibrato is rather funny to me. I took a class in voice fundamentals last semester and my prof always made a big deal about how, if you were totally relaxed from the start, vibrato just naturally happened from the outset. Now, don't come to fucking flame me with all kinds of, "Well, now there's variety. Don't you know the importance of jazz singing?" etc. etc. etc. I happen to enjoy that stuff just as much as some of my favorite classical singing. I'm sorry for asking this question again, but in layman terms, what's the difference in a record of having a 7 string or a 6 string? I know the physics (which means that lower notes can be played), but how low are the notes? Any hints on how to identify when a 7 string was used just by listening to the recording?
And another question: why is it that people always argue that JP uses a 7 string in a song or not? Is it much harder to play?
These are some questions that I've always wondered about whenever this (recurrent, must I say) topic appears here on the Jam.
