album most widely accepted as good Zappa records: Joe's Carage Acts

Dude, you have it on video? You could dub a cassette from that! But, yes, I must say that I have a 2CD of highlights from that show: Knebworth 1990. The CD also includes performances from Status Quo, Tears for Fears, Cliff Richard, the Floyd, and Phil Collins solo. It was released on Mercury/Polydor in the states. I found it many moons ago in the bargain bins for $5.99. I would like to know how track listings on video may differ from what I have. On that Genesis medley, Phil does his best Dan Aykroyd impression from the Blues Brothers, failing miserably, but when they actually get into the songs, they groove. On the boot The Lamb Woke Up Again, Peter Gabriel, with Steve Hackett, did a version of I'll Be There that invoked the spirit of Motown.

no they aren't "free". If you read the web page and the form to get a ticket, it says if you get a 3 day pass you will get a promotional pack with free stuff. The cd is the promotional pack. Also during the event you could pay less to get in and get no cd. The reason we complain was Keith was saying the cds might come in anytime(this during the event in August). Here it is December and we finally get them... Also if you have ever been to a Powermad, you know how completely unorganized they are...
I've been watching the 5yial video and after the Marillion song, I was wondering what is so great about them? I wasn't impressed by the song at all? It may be just me but I'd like to find out what Marillion fans see in the band.
Also what is the name of the second fan club song on the video. The first is Cover My Eyes, but what's the second song?

Well, that's "Ticketbastard" for ya. If you look around the TM page, you'll find a phone number (I think its an area code (201) number..?) that you can call and get tickets that way..it takes about 10 days to get them through US mail, but you can always get them "Will Call" at the club...the only downside to that is you don't get a stub to hang on to, but at least you don't have to pay any shipping/handling fees to get them in less than 10 days. So, there you have it.

Wanna-be Shreddi Knight is looking to finally ditch the shitty crate amp and get something decent. Desires great clean tone and the sceaming metal tone of the gods (JP). The rest is not so vital. It will be used primarily for home/recording use, but may be used live occasionally. Price cap: around $700. Any suggestions?
So far I've been told the Tech 21 Trademark 60 and Line 6 Flextone Duo may fit the bill. Anyone used either of those? Any comments?

Whether or not it was free is totally debatable, and depends entirely on your perspective. The entry price for the Powermad festival was, let's say, 30 bucks. *Included* in this price was the promised 3cd sampler. It was a reasonable expectation that each concert-goer would receive said sampler while at the festival. Would we have paid the 30 bucks *without* the promise of the cds? Of course. So you *could* argue that the cds were free, in a sense. But. The principle of the matter is that we (Powermad "customers") did not receive something we paid for until waaaaay after the fact. Menser apologists will argue that the cds were free, therefore shut the hell up. People like me (and every other person on the jam of whom I know) will say that we paid for it, where is it. It's all perspective. I seriously doubt anyone would not have purchased a plane ticket/got in his car and drove if there weren't a 3cd comp promised for his 30 bucks, but again, it returns to the principle of the matter.

i'm not saying "shut the hell up, it was free." i'm cool with complaining a bit, for the reasons you mentioned. My point was that i've heard a whole LOT of complaining - it seems someone brings up the powermad CDs or lack thereof on an at least biweekly basis, and i was just commenting that for somethign that was technically free, that's a lot of complaining. if you paid for something and never got it (hah, you thought i'd mention his name, didn't you?) then i understand (although it doesn't make the complaining any more pleasurable for everyone else), but if you don't get somethign that was free, i think you should mention it maybe, to make people aware of the problem, but not keep doing it.
but now that i thin of it that wasn't even what i was referring to - it was just the fact that even AFTER getting it, <i forget who it was> complained once more about how long it took, and then about the little things being broken. it's like jeez, what does it take to make you feel you're getting your money's worth with a free cd? get me? word. moo.

I was cruising around the other day and I heard a new version of Floyd's "Another Brick In The Wall pt II" done by a band called, "The Class of 99", it consists of Tom Morello of RATM, Layne Staley of AIC (yea!!!), Stephen Perkins of Janes Addiction (I think) and someone else whom I can't remember right now, but anyways, this new version of the song can be heard on the soundtrack for the upcoming movie, "The Faculty". It has an extreme groove to it. I think it kicks ass, of course you'll have to hear it for yourself :oP Btw, I heard a "new" PANTERA song on the radio a few nights ago to, it was called "Hole In The Sky", this didn't sound like a song they had written, but rather a cover song, anyone know of a band that plays that song?
