Yeah he's the same guy, guitar player, and their stuff was awsome (what I heard of it anyway). Good drummer too as I recall.

Well, I've got a few questions. As always!
I'm new to all of this prog.stuff, although I've been listening to DT for a couple of years now. For a 16 year-old that's a pretty long time! I find it much easier asking you guys than to spend hours finding the answers on the net myself...
I hope none of you mind me asking questions that have nothing to do whith DT. I have noticed that some people are slightly irritated that there is so little DT content on the Jam. I miss it myself, but you can only talk about a thing for so long... Not that DT is boring or anything! H*** no! But It's pretty quiet around them right now....
Ok lets get to it: It's about alot of different artist's\Bands this time. -------Savatage-------- -Are Savatage christians? -I'm listening to "Jesus Saves"... -Is Savatage a popular band among DT fans? -They've (Savatage) been around for a while, right? How long? -IF I were to buy a Savatage album, any albums I NEED to have? -I loved FII and all of the other DT albums (esp. FII & IAW) --------Shadow Gallery------- -Shadow Gallery's Tyranny seems like a good album. Is it? -Sounds alot like DT! (some clips I've heard) -------Rex Carroll------- -Anyone heard of him\Whitecross? (Just curious) -------Marillion-------- -When Jammers talk about Marillion in a positive way, are they just reffering to the *early* marillion whith Fish on vocals? -If I like "Afraid of sunlight" will I like *the old ones* (Fugazi, azraels tear...), or am I better of whith "Radiation" and "Brave"? -----------------------
Wow! I amaze myself! That's alot of questions!!! Any attempts of answering will be appreciated!
Have anyone else noticed that after every DT album (starting whith IAW), DT have given us *hang on a second* albums! -After IAW we got LatM -After Awake we got ACOS -After FII they gave us OiaL Coinsidense? (how do you spell that anyway?) So now we're about to get a new album in 99 (I hope!) Whith Metropolis 2 and a whole lot of other snacks. What will come next? Another *wait a little bit more* album? Well I don't mind! Off course all of the supposed *hang on* albums can be looked at to be independent (whatever that means in this connection) albums, but I think they surve the purpose as *hang on* albums for the Fans.
Looking forward to seeing answers to my questions! If anyone even read this post that is.... Well anyway: DT Rules!
Have a nice day Jonas Opsal NP: Shadow Gallery - Mystery (mp3) http://listen.to/dreamtheater

Hey dudes and dudettes - just a quick observation for ya: while loading up CDNow's main page just a few minutes ago, what advertisement appears at the top but a link for "The Ivory Gate of Dreams", the DT and FW bulletin board! Wow! I know CDNow must use one of those rotating advertisement type things (every time you reload it's different), so I may have just been lucky to see it. However, this was a pleasant surprise. Anyone on the 'jam involved with this site?

While I agree open strings sound different than fretted strings, it's simply not the case that you can tell, when there's heavy enough distortion. The difference in tone that you hear between hitting an E5 power chord in open position or in 5th position on the low B/E can be produced by having dull strings, half wounds (what I have as a low B right now) etc. Your EQ can affect how it will sound. The amount of distortion will affect the sound and your ability to hear what's going on. The only reason you know for sure that JP plays 7 string is because you know a lot about him. Bands like Orgy, KoRn, Crimeny/Derek Taylor, Symphony X, Sevendust etc are all very ambiguous as to 7 string usage. As I said, the only way you can be sure is to see em play, or to read about it. Anything else is just conjecture.

If you've set up a "My CDnow" account, then it remembers which bands you look at most and posts advertisements appropriately. I've noticed that everytime i go, things on my wish list that happen to be onsale are listed. of course, this may not be the case for you. later.

I like 'em both equally. There is plenty of great songs from the band with both singers. PLENTY. Thats like saying ther are only 2 camps of SAGA fans; People who love 'em, and people who NEVER heard of 'em. Well, thats probably true, but thats a story for another time...

If you got there using the link that Michael Kizer posted, then the banner is there because you're going through his Cosmic Credit account. The same thing happens when you get to CDnow using the link on Under a Cyber Moon... there is an UACM banner at the top. If you get there through my homepage, you'll see my banner... etc.

gee.... maybe the same way that you get worked up about music and your "late great" Bill Hicks and those other things that add a little spice and entertainment to your life. The human mind has to have something to think about.... sex, music, star wars... star trek...bad comedians... what difference does it make?
why "we're fucked up as a human race"? People obsessed with their own self importance perhaps?

I think that is John Williams the classical guitarist, not John Williams the composer. I've been told about that album and have heard that it is very cool....
BTW, has anyone heard if that DT date at Jaxx is a go or just BS? I'm trying to make plans right now...
