Now, personally, I had heard some rumours about KJLB's upcoming solo
album, but until now, nothing as specific as the information on Magna
Carta's website... Yet another DT-related album to look forward to (LTE2,
new Studio Album, KJLB, we're getting spoiled next year, even more than
this year.... AND I LOVE IT! Yippeee).

The Chemical Wedding....oooh, what an album. I like this. Far better
than anything Maiden's done since Bruce left. I saw him in Nottingham
(Rock City) last week, and he was AWESOME. There's a singer who
no-one's going to say's going downhill. Oh, sorry, this is the 'Jam,
so I'm sure someone will. Controversial! Adrian Smith's still top
draw as well. Glad that some people remember Brucie!

Greetings ye 'jamanoids...
I had the pleasure of seeing Hammerfall play their last show of the U.S.
tour last night here in Atlanta. Lots of fun, very enjoyable. I know some
people here aren't into Hammerfall, but for those who are, here's the setlist:
Heeding the Call
The Metal Age
Stronger Than All
Steel Meets Steel
Let the Hammer Fall
The Dragon Lies Bleeding
Legacy of Kings
Child of the Damned
Hammerfall
The band made as if to leave after "Hammerfall", but I could tell by the
smirk on Joacim's face that they weren't done yet. He motioned, and Oscar
took the mike. Oscar said, "This is our last show of the tour, and we're
having too much fun to go yet. Besides, you guys have been so cool you
deserve one more song. We do this one once in a while, just for fun. We
think you'll enjoy it."
And then, a la "Nightmare Cinema", they all switched instruments. Joacim
took Stefan's guitar, Stefan sat down behind the drums, Magnus handed his
bass to Patrik and took Oscar's guitar, and Oscar stayed on the mike. Then
they launched into a cover of Judas Priest's "Breakin' the Law". Very very
cool and very amusing. Not a bad rendition at all.
Great show and very enjoyable. The whole band is very approachable and
friendly (Magnus, for example, was so grateful at being recognized that
after he talked with us and signed stuff, before the show, he went back on
the bus and returned with signature picks and promo pictures for everybody
who wanted one). They are also very appreciative of their fans, posing for
pics, signing autographs, and generally being the souls of courtesy.
If Hammerfall comes anywhere near you next time they tour, and you like
power metal, go see them. You won't regret it. :)
ta,
Phil

HI Jammers.
I want to ask you a few things.
First of all, if you know who will play in USA between Dec.16 and Jan.26
Because I will be there. I know the Dream Theater dates. But I wanna
know
if others bands will play.
The other thing is about the JP's guitars model. If someone knows which
is the standard JP Guitar. (The blue red and yellow, with the Tone Zone
mics)
I wanna buy one of those. Or maybe a Universe.
Bye.!

Hi Jammers.
Someone called Sigit Prabowo talked about Scheppers, he is now
playing in a bamd called Primal Fear, that sounds like Judas (He was
angry because the guys from Judas didn't let him sing in JP.
They have covered DP's Speedking in his first album. The album has a
special edition that comes with a metal case, in the front it has a
metal
eagle (like in JP Screaming for vengeance), and in the back a circular
saw like
the Painkiller's wheels. In fact they like Judas.
About 7-String guitars, they are used to have heavier chords like
others says
but they're used to be fastest in some pickings, because you can have
louder
tones without having to run from the fret 20 to the 5th.
Bye.

As he struggled to stay awake, captain Borzilleri gazed out of his
cockpit at the inky blackness, pierced only by the lights of the
metropolis of Houston he was approaching. Suddenly, he felt a hollow
shudder from the bowels of the aircraft. With a glance to the silent man
beside him, his copilot, capt. Korg ('maybe he never says anything because
he's a keyboard,' he thought on a brief tangent), he quickly called the
Airborne Reconnaissance And Surveilance Hotline, or A.R.A.S.H., to inquire
about the empty tremor he had felt. What he heard didn't please him.
Just then, all of his engines burst into flames. "Empty Tremors and lots
of flaming; just another day aboard flight Y777SE, his navigator, the
Japanese Eck E. Asu spouted wittily.
Finally, the captain radioed the tower, declaring an emergency.
"Houston, we have a problem." By a strange twist of fate, his longtime
friend, Steven Vai, was working the tower in Houston that night.
"Borzilleri, is that you?" Vai said. "Yup, Steve," affirmed the captain.
"What's your status?" inquired Steve. "I'll be honest with you, I'm
basically all fucked up, Vai," replied capt. Borzilleri. All my engines
are out, and Eck has begun spouting his witticisms again. I think we can
coast in though. What do you think?" Vai replied, "I think you're right.
you're fucked. Houston Out." "Jesus Christ!" exclaimed Borzilleri. "Skadz
is up there with you?!" said Vai. "No," said the captain. "Oh, ok. Bye."
Knowing Vai wasn't one to make simple, unfounded guesses, capt.
Borzilleri took his word for it and dutifully reported the news to the
passengers. "Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. You
might have noticed the flames spouting from all four engines. Do not be
alarmed, everything is under control. We're going to crash. Now like any
good drama, I must deliver a clever and deep phrase in this moment of
impending doom. Yo've spent your ntire lives learning to live; now it's
time to learn to die. Please note the 'no smoking' and 'fasten seatbelt'
icons are still lighted. Please do not remove your seatbelt until the
aircraft has reached a full upright position. Thank you."
The End.

I'm not with the "Mind Control" here (nor with my WoWoW tape), but if I remember correctly, the tape consisted of the entire broadcast...
Unfortunately, I don't have the 5YiaL yet, but I've been told that the sound of that show was re-worked... So, it may well be possible that they've edited "Voices".

Greetings, As for thi theory by Mads, I kind of agree. However, did Ellington, Monk, Charley Parker, or many of those older players have "formal" training? They might have, I don't know my history very well, but if they didn't, that kind of negates this theory. Those cats could play over changes better than Mads, I, or many people will ever be able to. They could also interpolate changes on a whim (Monk's famous back-cycling in his blues's.) Just thoughts. Be well. Matt B

Clarification - Conan was holding up CEaOS, the old disc, when he introduced them (the cover of the disc he held up was more blue, while TCA is more red/orange). I love Conan's show - way better than Leno, obviously. I've been watching Conan since his show came on the air. About two years ago, NBC was considering switching Conan to 10:30 and Leno to 11:30, because Leno's ratings were plummeting and Conan's were skyrocketing. But then Leno got some advertising and apparantly people thought he was funny (how I'll never know), and the whole deal fell through the roof....

watching hockey is good
hearing savatage is good
realzing you are hearing savatage while watching hockey is phenomenal
ice skating?
the problem with Savatage isn't exposure, per se....their music is out there, i've even heard one of the interludes from EoT on PBS at the end of some show.....the only problem is that very vey vey few realize what they are hearing is attributable to "Savatage"
Even metal tolerant folks i know who like the TSO material just aren't able to get the hint that TSO IS Savatage, only heavier and less christmassy.....a certain logic breakdown which I for once can't friggin' understand....

Ok I think we've overdone the KJLB bashing for a bit, it's not just this post but a great number of them recently. The guy is great live, there is a problem with taping live stuff though (actually not a problem I happen to like it, it's what makes a live show but...whatever). Musicians and singists (yes singists) tend to do stuff which is there and gone in an instant and when you're there leaping up and down and screaming UAGM at the top of your voice you don't notice and you don't care. But when the tape is played back to you (and this must be true of the band members themselves) you tend to think, "Ooooh, not sure about that drum fill" or "Woah, that note was just held a little too long" etc. And singers are especially up against it. I can honestly say though, that I find KJLB's performance on the CD(s) and Video most satisfactory....
I thank you,

Ps. I still think you can hear Bruce on the backing Vox of LAD (and if so...how's that done live then..?).
